it's pretty clear now, that trump is only running to direct votes elsewhere

i mean, ffs. with all the shootings going on, not only is that statement in bad taste(for someone running for president especially); it's obviously clear that he was never meant to win in the first place. 
you guys welcome hillary, our next president. i'm sure she'll get away with as much crime in the white house, as she did in her current and past positions.
and if trump somehow DOES win, you can expect all sorts of hell to go down on u.s. soil, from the outrage backlash. much like it will with hillary(with much lesser outrage; at least until she starts making her/their changes).

Do not count Bernie "Feel the Bern" Sanders out just yet. He is gaining momentum pretty fast. He leads in Iowa and New Hampshire by a large margin.

Trump's quote about shooting somebody was a joke. I think it is possible he could get quite a few crossover votes.
My preference would be Cruz but I think Trump has too much momentum to stop now as far as being the GOP nominee. He has now opened up a substantial lead in the polls in Iowa.
We may be facing one of the biggest scandals in American history. Indications are the FBI's recommendation to prosecute Hillary is emminant If the below linked article is correct. If Obama's Department of Justice choses to not persue prosecution the United States has become a Bannanna Republic.
If Hillary is indicted the Democrat Party will be in chaos. Biden or Warren will step in to save the day. We may see a Biden-Warren ticket. I can't see the DNC allowing Sanders to be the democrat nominee for president.

It is great that americans are waking up and finally realizing that they were socialists all along. Sanders/Warren backed by the will of the people would drag corruption out of the shadows, into the light, and put priority back onto americans.
It is nice to see that a massive and internationally important nation like the USA is seeing a star of hope, my own country's politics are growing darker and darker by the day...

Would it? Would it really? Sanders and Warren are career politicians. They know how the system works. They would be as effective as Trump, Clinton, or carbon copy Republican X at eliminating corruption.
All the candidates are is talk. They can promise X, Y, and Z all they want but they are entirely at the mercy of Congress.

Iowa caucuses tonight! What the heck is caucus anyways? I have read a lot about it and I am still unclear. But I assume a democratic process happens nevertheless, although an unnecessarily complicated one....
I think the divide in Republican party is a very fascinating one. They hate their own candidates almost as much as they hate the democrats. Just unbelievable. The Teaparty is probably the cause for this as it has separated itself from the GOP establishment at least to some extent. They simply hate Ted Cruz, some even more than Trump lol.
If Trump wins Iowa then things start to look quite bad for other candidates, imho.

Let's keep in mind that the past two Republican winners of the Iowa caucuses didn't get the nomination - in 2008, John McCain even finished fourth.

no it's not. it's politics. and politics is nothing but business. nobody likes their competition. especially when competing for a head position. they'd all murder one another if they thought they could get away with it.
the best any of them can do past a certain point(after all the cut-throat snow), is get in league with whoever pulls out in front, per party. and that still doesn't guarantee them anything. there's a million and one strings to pull on those pinocchio's.

What you talk is "business as usual" and yes I get it. But this time it is not like that. Neither Ted Cruz or Donald Trump are inside the political system. I mean all republicans (rather reluctantly) supported Romney but now, they will actually might skip voting if Trump or Cruz is the nominee. That is unprecedented.

Unfortunately I had forgotten to register as a Republican when I was filling out my voter registration form (I said I had no party preference), and California gives parties the option to restrict voting in their primary to their members, which the Republican Party does. So I'll have to vote in the Democratic or Libertarian primaries, both of which allow non-members to vote. But it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway, because California's primary is in June, by which time both parties will probably have settled on their candidates. If I could vote for Rand Paul, I would, but he's polling poorly and I expect him to drop out soon.
As for what caucuses are, Wikipedia has a description here, but to summarize: They're a form of public voting in which people gather in a public place (schools, churches, etc) and stand in corners designated to certain candidates, with people free to persuade each other. Then candidates below a certain level of support in a given place are eliminated and their supporters are encouraged to move to a different candidate. This continues until all remaining candidates are above the threshold, at which point they're allocated delegates to send to higher-level state conventions that ultimately select the delegates to the party's national convention, who vote for the candidate there. It's a complicated process - a primary is much simpler - but it's an established part of American political tradition.

just politics getting worse; following the same curve as everything else.
/short meandering rant directed at no one in particular, that i felt like typing and posting, just because:
generally speaking, nearly everything has been getting worse. we have new technology, but it is much more fragile, compared to the sturdy stuff we used to have; and that would last a lot longer, too.
sure, there are parts here and there that have improved(depending on how your pov), but by and large, the human race is headed for the toilet.
you see more evidence of this every day. people who are optimistic about our future are certainly looking at the world through beer goggles. personally, i think everyone needs to sober the hell up.

I've witnessed many crappy candidates over the years but this time we have perfection, in a field of selfish, greedy and power hungry ego-maniacs.
To think back and remember when Carter and Ford debated, that someone uttered; " Carter. peanut-butter on baloney vs Ford, nothing between two slices of bread" and now realize those were the "Good ol' days".
Frankly. the power behind our <ahem> glorious throne that control these "Elites having PARTIES" is anti-American. For some reason it is NOT possible to actually have a 3rd "Elites having PARTIES" in this country. But now, it doesn't matter, the office is sold to the highest bidder. Besides, she is a woman and "we need one of those now". She is woman...hear her roar.
If only that woman did not seem just another run of the mill politician doing whatever it takes to retain power and grab even more.

FoG, I've thought long and hard on this one. And you know what? I think if he wins the nomination he'll double down on the crazy and pick Joe Arpaio to be his runningmate.
The bitter irony in all of this, should my prediction come true, is that my southern and rural brothers and sisters, who were reared on the Dukes of Hazard, who idolized Bo, Luke, Daisy, Uncle Jessie, and Cooter, who love the General Lee and the rebel nature of them Duke boys, they will enthusiastically vote for this modern day Boss Hogg and Roscoe P. Coltrane.

While we're at it, let's resurrect U.S. President 2016. I didn't get Warren(yet), but Bernie's as good a 2nd choice as I've seen in a long, long time.

Honestly all the major front runners in both parties either scare the hell out of me, or I wouldn't trust farther than I could throw them. Unless there's some drastic shakeup, I'll probably vote third party or write in myself.
