If I wouldn't played H5, H6 and MMX during their release and if I couldn't remember Ubisoft's promises and how these games (not) worked then, then maybe I would be a little more optimistic... but I remember and you can see first hand, how H7 beta works and how much is to be done yet.

I'm going to be completely honest... for as much as I've backed H7 in the past, as much as I've liked the artistic design, as much as I've been looking forward to the game since its announcement...
What little I've played of the beta has sapped my interest. A resounding "meh" all around. Aesthetic appeal is still there, but any of the actual game elements? Nada.
I'm legit starting to consider cancelling my preorder, spending the money elsewhere, and maybe getting the game on sale down the road. As is, though? It just doesn't click.

Some suggest just buying the game until it is properly patched. Best results could be just to buy until the last DLC is launched. At a sale.

Which is food for thought. Imagine Ubisoft ditching the franchise and handing it over to another company. Whatever they produce can either be a Heroes-game staying true to 3, 5 etc (basically pretending that H6 and 7 never happened), or something that goes even further away from that. For all you know, they might turn it into an MMORPG and your hero becomes something like you get in World of Warcraft.
It's hard to say whether a new company will indeed listen to the fanbase or just do whatever they think is best. We might never even get Heroes 8. Because every new developer will inherit the fanbase and everything that happened, and they will need nerves of steel to work with them .

Why do you think ranged dmg is overpowered? If I don't take the full arrow perk and +2 to shooter dmg shooters are under par even with full population . This includes taking core dwell week 1 and building +shooter growth week 1 and no losses sustained. That is with a hero which levels offense stat.
If they nerf it too much some heroes will have trouble creeping.
I hate it when someone takes a full fledged shooter hero and says shooters are OP....

I felt the complete opposite. I was decided to never buy the game. Without raising a holy inquisition here. I'd rather spend 40 euros for MKX. But after the beta 2, i saw stuff that actually worked for me. After playing some dragon age past month, i don't mind the free leveling up system anymore. It's stategic as much, having to prioritize what you'll learn. On the replayablity department we'll have to wait a tiny bit longer although i don't think it will dissappoint. If it will, i will be the first to whine here, i promise.
Balancing and optimizing will be on the way. Bug fixing too, so that's that in my books. Too bad about zooming and resizing,but not gamebreakers.
As for spells,arcane knowledge etc, i don't mind the schools etc. As i said i'm more of a casual player. But if smth is to get better about that, I'm counting on this community and their great ideas, on that topic, to communicate with the devs. Just leave the lore alone. Dungeon is already ruined in many ways. The community's strength is knowledge about gameplay,modding and issues like that and that's why I'm still here.
So after the first two patches i'm buying that thing. Found a cheap retailer here in my country.
I really wonder who of the nay sayers will buy it. I think all of them
