That's also a mentality we had once, then we saw that the AI was progressing super slow for the early game (movement points..). But we need to find a balance between that, obviously. It does pick up stuff, but it's not its top priority. It's already a bit more inclined to do so in the latest versions in-house

As for Adventure map AI It really shouldn't be running around mindlessly as it always has a bunch of processes it can do, which it then values to what would be it's most optimal move.
Small note about this stuff. I was wandering why AI simply ignoring my defenseless town when he passing by. It was like "really? does he has any more important stuff than take a free town? what an idiot.." And then I realized that there is fog of war even for the AI too. And AI might simply had no clue that my town is nearby... So I think that you need to improve this a little bit. For example, if AI is at enemy's territory then he should try to explore the territory as much as possible, before he decide to do some very-important-stuff back at his land.
Also I remember that you (not you, but other guy) mentioned that you assumed that AI played every map at least once, and he 'remembers' where all mines and towns are located. So when AI is stalking through my lands, he should act like "Okay, I remember that somewhere there an enemy's town is located, let's check if it's occupied or not" or something like that. Or even 'I am strong enough to make sure that somewhere around here an enemy's town is located, so I will do so with no fear' or 'I'm pretty sure that enemy's town is there, but I'm too weak, so I better won't take risk and just steal his resources'.
Just a note.

That's a quote from the AI man himself so hopefully that answers that. A little more detail on the second point. Essentially all units work out what is best for them as an individual, rather than what would be best for the entire army so this is why you can see a weaker unit blocking a better unit perhaps. It's always being worked on however.
I'm sorry, but that sounds like a giant design flow! Why would units in battle consider only what is best for them?

Speaking of OCD in that regard, I always sort my artefacts by type or set. In Heroes 3, combined artefacts go first, then the parts of the Statue of Legion, then other set pieces I happen to carry around. The ones with more parts go before the ones with less parts. I equip as much as I can, and make sure that the scrolls are all packed together. Afterward that come the artefacts not belonging to a set, but if they are similar (like the elemental orbs or tomes) I keep them together as well.
Heroes 4 allows you to sort all the potions etc to the top or bottom of your backpack, but there and in H5 I have less of a 'sorting strategy'. And in H6 I make sure that the Shantiri Moon Disc fragments are together, scrolls together, set items together.
Yea, I like order.

From the little experience I got it has seemed the AI just wonders aimlessly. In skirmish I had empty town which should have been at least partly visible to enemy, but he didn't go after it. At that point I thought first maybe he saw my 2nd hero and decided to go after that, only to find out AI passed him also next turn. It is possible AI found something more important/urgent, but as far as I could see it just ran towards middle of the map and again headed towards my town. It didn't seem to do anything.
In campaign I was leveling my 2nd hero which saw enemy hero as "high" I think. Despite he having better army and higher level hero he just passed by me. He also should've seen my main hero who had no army at that point, but didn't bother going after her either. The AI could've also gone for my empty town(which he was moving towards initially), but decided to move towards fort in the end. With campaign alone I could easily see this being all scripted, but when I see same kind of behavior in both skirmish and campaign it does seem to form a pattern. Given that I haven't played that many games/maps it's possible that it really is just a coincidence though.

Ok so I'm not one to beat around the bush. Patch is being pushed back a little from the expected date because during the testing process we found 2 major issues. We then had the choice of pushing that patch, with these 2 major issues found, out to you guys and having people experience them, creating more of a snow storm, or wait, push back and get a patch with those issues fixed. So we went that route.
However in going that route the patch then has to be retested so other random stuff doesn't just pop up, which is extremely common in the 'building' process of these things, such is the life of software development.
So essentially that's what we're doing. I'm not giving anyone dates or ETAs because who knows what might crop up, we are looking good though (touch wood) and you'll not be waiting long (read week/s) This patch will then be followed by some quick fire ones rather than a big boy all the time.
After that we still have patch support 'road map' if you will, so it's not like we do this and stop.
This isn't even the statement I wrote up as i've been waiting as long as you guys to find out what is happening. This is the earliest I could provide info.

Yep, I know this. Recently the whole world got familiar with French culture of caricature.
...Doesn't give a right to offence someone personally...
Dude, I don't want to drop into politics, but both of us know in which country do you live. Well, maybe it's ok for you to bow in front of a dude with an authority. I don't have intention to change your position. Do (or, precisely, do not do a thing) whatever you like, but the only thing you were doing (and some other moralists) is whining about how bad those SC guys are. Well, I can't care less but what was the aim? You hate the "haters". Consequently, without us you have no purpose and goal.
Im my culture (and in mostly all Western culture) it is just fine to make a satires, mock some public people in a funny way. You can see a lot of examples just google any famous public dude with a word "caricature" and you will open the entire new world for you.
If you are interested in football, there is a famous "Crackovia" spanish show which is pure "mocking and insult" of famous dudes like Top-managers and footballers of Spanish clubs. And it works pretty good (means, it is popular and heroes of that story aren't even trying to sue the authors). You know why? Because it is 2015 year and we have tools to get their attention by parody and organized cooperation. For sure, if we'd try to do that in like... North Korea we'd most probably have beed annihilated in some inventive way. So that's a blessing to live in a modern world with civilized culture.
And you know what is the most great thing? - IT WAS FUN. I bet Erwan just kek'd from that story and nothing more.
P.S. You, moralists, have just black and white things in your life like mother told you in the childhood. But the things are just more complicated and there are just different shades of grey (screw that movie which turned this meaning into a vulgar way ).
P.P.S. Children, immaturity blabla...dudes, most of us are 27 and older there. If you want to act like 89-years old, then go on. I'm just having fun both IRL and on this beautiful SC forum. So leave your lections to your children please. As I've said earlier, I will sleep well. Feeling zero amount guilt because of this stuff.
Elvin said:
No. Under no circumstances does the code of conduct allow for personal insults. Nothing wrong with poking a little fun but Erwan's case has been blown out of proportion for too long..
Hm...Elvin. The guys are manipulating the terms actually. They say "personal insults were there". But what do you call a PI in that Sun action? Caricatures? "Fire ELB" (sad to say that major part of russians at SC read that as "Burn ELB" which has the totally different meaning)? Posting ASCII? Posting ELB's quotes? Sorry, I can't find that offensive even looking there with a microscope.
Different thing is we'd start like "ELB is a *$$`aing &%*@le" and so on. We didn't say anything edgy and you got to admit it.

So remind me, what was the brilliant philosophy behind keeping users waiting for weeks for a big patch instead of implementing small patches more frequently to improve gameplay experience more gradually?
