Say that to those whose trust was betrayed. The damage is dealt, unfortunately, and no matter how many patches there can be, it still won't change their opinions much.

Besides, the team also needs time and money for to make new patches. Considering how the sales went, I don't think the game will be completely patched.

"Damage" has been dealt with Heroes 6 already. That's why my interest in H7 dropped even before the game was released. With all my optimism somehow I didn't feel that the game could've worked. There were signs here and there...

The best thing for this franchise would've been if it was never even picked by Ubisoft in the first place. If it wasn't picked up maybe someone would ressurect it via Kickstarter (which unfortunately didn't even exist at the time of 3DO's demise). Unfortunately we don't live in this alternate reality, and Ubisoft will never drop the series cause they've invested a lot of money in it. They will continue to desecrate it with their "loving care for the franchise" and other PR bull...

Hey, even H4 has fans that think it's the best in the series. Horses for courses as a friend used to say Personally I'm more concerned with the amount of disappointed fans, especially those who have been let down twice in a row. You cannot afford to lose the community's trust, in a community driven series.. Ultimately the sales will show but gone are the times when a fan would buy the game just because it is heroes. It gets increasingly hard to not only make up for past mistakes and harder yet to win back the lost fans or cover the lost sales by bringing new fans into the series.. Many games have done better what the current heroes does, including the old heroes games...

The one thing that I do know is that I won't pre-order H8. Learned that lesson after stubbornly believing that they wouldn't repeat the mistakes from H6 with H7.

Heroes 8 will definately need to be a major redesign of the core as it exists in Heroes 6 & 7. However, as long as Team Erwin remains in charge, I have very little hope that they can find the true essence of the game and capture it in the best way possible. They managed to botch it in two games in a row now and they themselves have admitted they're clueless as to what the essence of the game really is and which road they need to travel to get there.

But you're missing the elephant in the room - it's a community driven series! If it weren't then maybe we would see a game with appeal, innovation, vision and features that would make it good at a gameplay level. It is those things that make you competitive on the market and keep the series alive, not a bunch of dissipating fans buying the lies of rekindled golden ages.

Well, they didn't fool me... As soon as I caught wind that this won't be good I've left this ship before it hit the rocks. What a true fans of the series I am, no?

Maybe the Spider vision in itself wouldn't be bad if the games weren't such a mess. Heroes 5 had it's charms (but that's mainly because of Nivals contribution), but somewhere along the way (cheap/unexpierienced developer + Ubi with it's release it before they notice policy) the games completly lost it for me. I've always been more of a dark fantasy man, but I really digged this semi-fairy tail/colorful medieval times (sorry I can't find words that best describe this) charm of past heroes. Heck, even Clash of Heroes was nice. But then it all went down the drain... I just can't accept Heroes 6-7 style and the direction the series is going...

I did not pre-order H6 or H7 and will not pre-order H8 if there is one. As a matter of fact I have not even bought H7 and am unlikely to. There were lots of signs H7 would be "not good" way before pre-ordering was even open; I mean just the townscreens alone showcased the game's coming mediocrity. As Stevie said unless the Heroes series starts being sold to a larger market (rather than trying to appeal to fans by recreating the old and failing at that) it will continue to be underfunded junk like H7, and I will continue to spurn it as it deserves.

Hehe clash of heroes and duel of champions were great! I even liked the looks of the canceled Raiders game. They're good at making spin offs! Just not the actual game they bought the rights to....I think we can find a compromise

The franchise only needs good hands to take care of, problem of Ubisoft is they only care about the money. What they do is taking famous names and milk them, everybody knows that. Couple that with incompetence from current MM Team and you get current state of it: a mediocre and failed attempt not even working properly.

Its sad that your right. Ubi did so well with heroes 5 (as its considered best or on par with heroes 3) I think they this time have tried to listen I think though they will milk the entire game out when it comes to pay for the expansion. this free update its stupid just to get us all existed for a campaign with a broken AI

I never really cared about the AI because it never really posed a threat, not even in H5 with that ridiculous amount of cheating. Also because I can no longer play single player after tasting the excitement of multiplayer. I still enjoy campaigns though and H7 made me reconsider for that very reason. It's just unacceptable to have campaigns with a totally useless AI. Despite its flaws, H3 AI gave the illusion of a human player. In H7 it doesn't do that, it cannot even function in a reasonable manner. Pickups? Let them lie. Easy stacks to kill for xp? Nah I'm good. Mines? Whatever for? Clear starting area? Too boring, must explore ahead! Empty enemy city? Screw that, I think I'll attack that human hero with the noticeable advantage in levels and army.

How can you take seriously a campaign where the AI 1) sucks too much 2) is scripted to leave you alone(or is inaccessible most of the game) because its presence is embarrassing or it cannot perform as expected within the map's framework 3) or has ridiculously strong armies to make up for its ineptitude?

I'd rather have the H5 cheating AI instead and I found H5 AI pretty terrible. Sure I like the occasional solo adventure campaign but there should be missions where the AI can challenge you, for gameplay variety. Tastes differ but both are needed.

actually, that proves you are.

think about it like this: would one of your dead relatives be better honored in fond memory, or by digging them up and then dressing them up for parties, to be propped up as an obscene decoration, so that you could somewhat enjoy their presence again(but probably only if you actually hated that dead relative)?

because that is essentially what ubisoft did with the series. but before that, homm4 came out, which was what killed the series, imo.

Totally for you alone, and maybe for some others. I also know a bunch of people who think H4 was the first wrong step. Then the game went 3D thus the youngest players felt comfortable, while the oldest ones gave up.
