But kreegans idea is mixing science fiction into the franchise. There also those Ancients and Guardians, which are also part of science fiction. Besides, how else would they come to the planet? You might say "they came from experiments", but so do them Beastmen from Ashan.

It's a much more advanced lore, yet it does not dictate things which revolve around it. Being said, the lore is not forced down, unlike in Ashan. You have angels here, which come from space, while angels in Ashan are merely powerful servants to Elrath.
Perhaps it would be true that it would be really odd if space demons would come to Ashan. But that could simply be attributed to the fact that Ashan is just a fantasy world and not a science-fiction one. And don't ever forget the Forge, a definitive proof of high-technology faction that could've been present.
Just saying Enroth is one thing, Ashan is something quite different. And there hasn't been much improvement in the lore, only how the Falcon/Griffin Empire is in trouble and how other countries revolve around it to save it, most of the time.

Personally, I agree on that one. For me, the whole Kreegan thing is something I choose to turn the blind eye to in the same way that I try to ignore everything that is Necropolis lore in Ashan.

Well it s different when someone is from another "realm" on another dimension,than being from another planet on the star system. Maybe "another realm" means another planet,but the less we know the better.
In my opinion blending space stuff with fantasy, like the one in heroes rarely goes tasteful. But each to his own i guess.

Anyway, I played the hell out of H2 and H3 and only much later, when I got to Might and Magic 6 I found out about the weird SF vein. And it was perfect like that. Nobody tried to shove it through my throat like they bloody do in Bullshan with their retarded rules and everything.
Screw the lore (old and new), give me good gameplay!
The weird side of the old lore doesn't stop H3 to still live and thrive through brilliant mods and maps (or H5 or H2 + H3).
On the other hand, Bullshan is just another nail in the coffin of H6 and H7.
And spare me the nostalgia BS, H2, H3, H4 and H5 are still being played and praised because they are good, some of them after decades from their release. In 3 years nobody would still remember the Limbosoft bug/crapware (= H6 and H7).

About the demons/ Kreegan -- at least in the old heroes games, their portrayal was based on medieval ideas on demons and such; that portrayal had nothing 'alien' to it. When you're playing heroes 3, you see them as demons--- their appearance and faction atmosphere all read as 'demon', not 'alien'.
I know that the older heroes lore still labeled them as Kreegans, their 'true' name.... but still, in the old heroes games, you can't deny their inspiration is based on what you might expect of demons. Therefore, nothing weird about the demons in heroes-- your arguement for their 'weird-ness' holds little weight in the older heroes games. (The regular Might and Magic RPG games were most responsible for building an 'alien' image of them with otherworldly dwellings and such).
Ha! You know what. Ubisoft's Heroes 6 demon faction features an alien-looking thing in that damn Breeder creature ... that thing is FAR more 'alien' impression-wise than any demon in heroes 3.

I love the older games... but look, nobody here thinks that the 'demon invasion' angle seen in the older Might and Magic games was this dashing, groundbreaking idea. (Notice even Ubisoft employs this for Heroes 6, sans the 'alien' origin).
Besides, the older heroes games put a spotlight on demons as demons rather than demons as aliens (the latter being a focus of the three RPGs, Might and Magic 6-8).
And maybe there would be an outrage directed at Ubisoft, but it wouldn't be for the sake of it. Outrage tends to happen if you've developed bad habits already (in this case, the story line). See, the story lines created by ubisoft-endorsed teams have yet to show much anything outside of the restrictive and the overwrought.

Just 3+/- years (MM6 was released in 1999 while Warcraft 3 was released in 2002) and one is based on Star Trek mythos (more or less) while another is "based" on Warhammer.
