In the past, yeah, it would take 5 seconds. Now it takes 5-6 minutes for most strategy games, or if we are talking about H7 beta 25 minutes.

this! this is really happening. it consumes my laptop if i play continusly for hours. after 4 hours, laptop starts to lose its grip on game. everything becomes slower.. but still a simple restart solves this problem. btw so rarely i can play 4+ hours, so its not a important problem for me.
take note that i dont really have a high-end laptop at all.
i think you dont own the game do you? these complaints have nothing to do with h7... or maybe youre talking about h7 beta? lots of progress made since beta.

This sounds like typical memory leak, or excessive disk access. Have you checked task manager if there is evident high use of a resource?

You're not entirely off - the speed of the AI turns is indeed lightyears better than HOMM5 and HOMM6. Townscreen not much of a problem also, in my own PC. Entering battle costs me 2-3 minutes (which is a lot) but I wouldn't mind too much about that.
Entering the actual game, from starting it to actually having a playable screen before my eyes, takes something like 15 minutes. If all goes well. And that I don't sit well with.

After I read the last posts I got curious and did three tests:
- Time elapsed from click on Uplay in desktop until I get into a playable screen (new game, all configurations default): 1 minute and 10 seconds (bypassing the advertisements and the trailer, of course).
- Time to load a saved game with about 5 months game time: 9 seconds
- Time between turns in the loaded game: 24 seconds (2 AI players)
I have a 3 years old CPU (i5 4440) and an much older GPU (GTX460).
The game is installed on a SSD, maybe it's helping to speed up.
I guess I'm lucky as cleglaw
