They were already tough enough in H5 let alone + 50 % to physical resistance. Combined with endure/stone skin or any defense buffing spell they would be unstoppable.

Fixed it for ya. 
Still, there is no reason that a well trained, powerful human that can seemingly match an Angel should have a problem with a Dragon. Especially when dragons out in Ashan are so frequently seen.

Once upon a time there was a poll. Evil cheaters and whiners ,together, worked really hard to postpone that poll. Legends say that the results will be announced only when the stars align.

Not necessarily. The Thunderbird was a boss in Heroes VI, it doesn't mean it has to be a boss in every single game. Just like Cate was a Black Dragon boss in H6 and that didn't prevent having Balck Dragons in the Dungeon line-up of the add-on.
That said, in any case the bird of the H7 Academy is supposed to be a different kind of creature than the Rokhe/Thunderbird.

Phoenix being a Magic bird doesn't mean that every possible Magic bird is a Phoenix.
What I mean is two "birds" as champion units (potentially three) might be overkill (like dragons from H5)....

Is there a set time it should be revealed? Do they update other parts of the site at a certain time, or is it a random time somewhere throughout the day?

I wouldn't be surprised if they changed their minds and said: Yeah...about that poll thing... uhhh....we changed our minds, the dwarves are in instead of th elves, but good news! You get to wolte for their lineups. You can choose between 3 champions: a blue giant dwarf, a green giant dwarf and a faceless angel giant dwarf that is also somehow a darkelf martiach dragon.

So now we have 45% happy voters and 55 % unhappy voters I really think 2 options is the best if there will be more voting planned.
But lets hope this is a good line-up nevertheless
