If this is what you think of the discussion why do you keep it going? You mentioned Paradox, I mentioned JVC, it could have ended there.
While we differ in our convictions about the ifs and whats it's the actual Ubi selling the IP that I don't see happening.

The issue with a different company taking over, is that usually a new company changes from a few aspects to what might even lead to a completelly new product that might be good for a franchise, but other times it isn't really.
For instance I would probably trust THQ to make a good rpg out of the franchise, cause its their specialty(so effectivelly, Might and Magic RPG spinnof, maybe continuing after X or something). For a strategy? Not so much as you can see from their most succesfull titles, made(not just published) by their own studio. Its possible Ubisoft themselves could do a good M&M based RPG one if they really wanted to.
Don't know who could. In my mind I have the success of XCOM after it was taken from Firaxis and loyally working on it to nearly the best of their ability(but they were basically Microprose descendants and makers of good strategy titles allready). Also in my mind is the Fallout Franchise after taken over by Bethesda, who transformed it to a scifi Skyrim clone(for some a good thing, but I'm between those that only have acquired the Vegas standalone and even that barely just to check out if it was any good{not as much as I expected}, and turned more to other titles).
Also the attempts of MoO revival(They tried, granted that, but the product recieved mixed feelings and criticques) and in other Media the Star Wars sequels(made by people that claimed to be fans yet didn't seem to grasp what it was about really). I do have a few in my mind if they actually sell(Maybe Creative Assembly + Sega, Stardock, Firaxis, inXile, Akella/.dat, maybe Grimlore, maybe Epic), and probably it would be best if it was split in an RPG and a Strategy part and then sold to different companies that would have to interact with each other so they would get elements between them, cause the franchise would have to remain tied between its parts still. And Ubisoft could keep themselves the mobile-based attempts since this seems to be their thing nowadays.
