I think they've done really good by deciding not to implement Heroes 6 Town Portal system again

I think we really need to start to lobby for custom choice for town portal system like they do for skill system. A game without the option to portal to any town with the proper building built will be a disaster imo., and given how divided people are on this subject, custom choice when setting up game is the only thing that makes sense.

yes with the current system I'm sure it will be just as disastrous as H1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 were, and unfortunately not as awesome as H6 lol

To be honest, I haven't seen any vocal support for changing town portal system (except you, alci). Speaking about it - do you want to have possibility to choose to which town should be teleported from any place, instead of being teleported to the nearest one?

H2 and H3 did not have the current suggested mechanics. I'm not saying H6 system was perfect, but we need to have at least the option for something that's not just back to closest town, otherwise huge maps become an utter bore.

I think there needs to be some sort of way to travel between cities. A merge between H2/H3 and H5 system would be my choice (level 5 adventure spell needs a certain level like in H5, but lets you choose city like in H2/H3) but other options could work. I liked the suggestion that someone made a while ago that it worked with a building in both end like in H6, but that you needed to link the portals to each other which would take some town, so that you can't just zap between all cities on the same turn.

I actually would prefer to have an option and obviously know that a few users here like the H6 system, but still I haven't seen any polls or indications that the rest of the fanbase cares,
so I don't know where do you get the idea that people are very divided?

I just hope that we won't end up with full screen of options before we can start the game.
It will be difficult to find people online that want to play exactly your type of game with so many variables

Again, you are getting confused. Change "we" with "me" and you might be on the right track. 
Now seriously, even I don't know what we want and I read these forums multiple times a day. Opinions are very different and a lot of people are unsatisfied for different reasons. I don't think that you can just say "we want this!" because even you don't know for which part of community you are speaking.
