Yes, the battlefield still looks like the battle of the ants. Hardly can see a damn thing.
I can't understand, are they really satisfied with the way units look in battle? This thought scares me a little.

Man that Cabir is huge. And the Rakasha tiny.
Also those piles of wood look like they are made out of silver.

You won't starve yourself just to have more food later.

Yet this is exactley what investment is and capitol does. You do not HAVE TO invest. You can build your army and be agressive and attack. Atleast if game is designed properly. H6 Capitol was kinda mandatory and served no purpose. Only thing it did was raise income of cities. In H3 I managed to week 2 rush with Stronghold's Behemoth and no capitol. Basicaly go full on army and spared no gold building economy, and overwhelm enemy before he could even develop. I was also defeated with this strategy, more than once. Forthress also worked with fast Vyverns.

And this is what I call good design. To weight pros and cons and right time to build your capitol. What is best time? Week 3? week 4? build too soon and you might fall behind with your resource gathering - basicaly like you mentioned, fall behind with earning gold with army. Build too late, and your economy would be in bad shape with too small income to afford amry.

This is mostly where diference in army size originates. If enemy has dozen of T7 (or champion tier) creatures, where you just have one, it's reason that you didn't pick right building strategy. Maybe you have building built at same time, but your 12 Black Dragons are standing in there waiting for plague, while enemy, who build capitol in time, can buy full array.

I'll give you few points
1: A situation, which you yourself described, when you go first for capitol, then for creatures, then for castles is something you would describe as "the same from game to game", and Heroes VI has shown that this is not fun.
BTW what is more varied 7 out of 7, or 1-7 out of 7?

But it's not always the same build order, atleast not in my experience. Different maps require different approaches.
And atleast we normally get access to 7 but a tight economy would leave us at the same 4-5 every game unless you can build a superior economy.
Quote:

2: The last games I played, (H6, I did not use more then 3 creatures, the rest just stood there, or I didn't bother to build at all.

That's H6 for you.
Quote:

3: Not having the resources does not , TAKE the creatures away. Sure you have to choose. Sure You may not have All of tham AT ONCE. But you still can have ANY of them.
Let's make comparison. If you have 5 guns, and can buy ammo for any of them, but not for all 5 at once, do you have less guns? No You still have 5 but now you have to think and plan since you know that there will be more cash for Ammo later. Its called strategy, and I expect this from a strategy game that has an economical part. Which heroes has.

What you desribe here as a loss of strategy is replaced 1:1 by the spellsystem. You may cast any spell, but only one. Sure you could cast that remove obstacle spell but not the summon fire elemental. Do you have access to less spells? Not unless you manage your spellpoints economically. The strategy layer is still there just in a different form
Quote:

4: Let's exaggerate! If there should be no choice in what we buy, no limitations, then why bother with all the micro management then. No towns, no resources, just instantly increase my army size by 1 for each week. Would that be fun? Again, ask Heros VI and how town conversion helped it's gameplay.

Again. That's H6 for you. But let's not exaggerate too much shall we?
Quote:

5: you talked about turns being long, 2,5 mins is not that much? In a game that last 15 min, it is. 10 minutes in a heroes game, that last 2+ hours? not that much. Also, Turns take to long because you have to pick up so many things? Well it would be nice if it would make a difference, not just be a chore. Sadly The economical tumor of the capitals lowers its impact.

It doesn't have to lower it's impact if there are other things to spend all that money on like artifacts or a second town.
Quote:

The problem is. In H2 when I found a Gold mine, I was thrilled. I suddenly had cash! I could buy the production of that second castle I had, I had a second army. It meant something.
What does finding a Goldmine mean in H3? or in H6? Nothing since 4k vs 5k is not that much of an difference, when compared to 1,25k vs 2,25k.

It's the difference between having acces to those units now instead of 2-3 later.

JollyJoker said:
In other words: NWC did only ONE of their 4 games with a Capitol, while 3 worked with a different - and frankly, better - economy, where you had a lot of interesting choices to make and where the difference between "village" and town was significant (those 3 HoMM games come with a lot of "small towns" you cannot produce anything in except what they already come with, unless you make a very significant investment).

You basically describet the Fort, or atleast what it could be. I also liked the villages from H2 that required significant investment to function properly and would love to see them replace the current forts.

Omg, that Cabir looks so bulky. Just compare it to the other creatures.

And the core Crossbowmen are so tall. Like, taller than the elite Justicar, it doesn't feel right.

@JJ, others - I'll get back to that topic as soon as we go through these screenshots we got.

How can you tell? The Justicar is almost entirely obscured by the stack numbers.

Size of creatures on the battlefield should be twitched. Otherwise from that, I like these townscreens. Interface is clear (especially in the cities), size of creatures on the adventure map doesn't bother me at all, I am optimistic about future of this project at least in terms of its interface and battlefield.

*sigh*

Why we have again max hero level cap at 30? It's just not enough, especially compared to HoMM3-4. Anyone who played HoMM6 probably remember, how game has become boring on huge maps, when you reached max level in the middle of game.

On the other side, we can see new resources icons but why we got 2x gold?

I have a feeling that the Cabir size is actually good. It's the other creatures that need to be resized into larger models on the battlefield.

And please make that Justicar bigger, you can't have an Elite creature be smaller than core Crossbowmen and Sentinels, wtf?!

Ubi-Nox on mmh7.com

- Creatures/Heroes/Items scales are not final at all

Logical, but great to get it confirmed.

And

- There are glitches and work in progress assets

Regarding stack numbers overlapping I guess.

Pretty sure all the icons were cheap recolours of the gold icon when they were first revealed. I'm guessing that part of the WIP bit is "we're still working on the new icons".

I'm not sure I like the adventure map look of the heaven town. Everything just looks so out of place. And I don't see any place it could expand to. I hope that this is not how a fully developed town will look like.

Anyone care to speculate what this building is?
Also whats with the purple stuff floating mid air in the top left corner?

The "stuff" could be glitch. the building is a fort IMHO
As for the town.. This should be a basic town. A fully developed town was shown in the GC demo aka Twitch stream demo

1) I'm guessing a Haven creature dwelling. Elite tier?
2) Observatory?
