I have laughed at this so hard, you can feel the rage coming from your post.

I understand you, but take a look at it from this angle: Reaper here is not a Reaper like in Age of Wonders, they are just called like that by Necromancers/Humans/whoever but they are actually Vampires that have become really powerful and have changed their appearance. That could also explain why there is so many of them.

Now, I am not some lore freak for Heroes franchise(I still favor things that make sense though), but I like to think that it happens this way as it is the one that makes the most sense to me.

1. Did they retcon H6 spectral dragon lore? I thought you needed to go to the spirit world to bind the dragons spirit in order to animate its bones.

No, I just checked in H6.(unless they rapidly changed that since, but I find that hard to believe)
What you say is correct, but not for a Spectral Dragon, but for a Dragonwraith. A Dragonwraith is a Dragon ressurected with Necromancy, in the way you describe.
Bone and Spectral Dragons are Dragons locked out of the cycle of souls, which forces the body and soul to remain on the world as undead. By being locked out of the Cycle, Dragons basically ressurect themselves.

Actualy ... you can't have Vampire be anything but .... Vampire. Vampire is Vampire. This is why it's called the freaking Vampire, and not ... well anything else.

And I know what I'll do. I'll pretend I never read that bit and will ignore it like a pro

Do you know now, why I say lore should not impact gameplay decisions, like 7 schools of magic, and that making something to make game better, should be witouth regarding the lore.

It's because lore makes no sense anyway

I wonder how it would go if JVC and Erwin tried to work together?
would JVC be asked to write for Ashan with all its hard to keep track of laws? would Erwin finally relent on the reboot and the technophobia if JVC wanted to bring back the Ancients and the sci fi?

Bone and Spectral Dragons are Dragons locked out of the cycle of souls, which forces the body and soul to remain on the world as undead. By being locked out of the Cycle, Dragons basically ressurect themselves.

There was only one known Dragonwraith, Belketh's toy. The others are the Spectral Dragons. Here's their bio:
Usually when it feels its death coming a Dragon rises up to the moon, returning to the place where Asha rests, there to shed its mortal skin and be reborn anew. However, there is a remote chance that a traumatic event sunders the Dragon at the moment of death, cutting off its spiritual conscience from its material form. In this case, the body and spirit remain prisoners on Ashan; the former becoming a Bone Dragon and the latter a Spectral Dragon. Different types of Spectral Dragons can arise depending on the manner and place of death. The Spectral Dragon is driven by a vital need to consume the souls of others in order to maintain the form and shape of its own memories. Most turn mad and uncontrollable, unless subdued by a Death Lord. Under the guidance of their Archon Belketh, the Necromancers have indeed learned powerful rituals that allow them to find, capture, and bind the powerful Undead Dragons to their cause.
So no retcon here, as you said in H6 we were binding Spectral Dragons (the spirit form, not the bones).
But I guess they changed "Dragons are reborn anew" to "they slumber for all eternity".

Look here

That's the Grim Reaper. It has a very specific meaning. It's Death Incarnate.

I mean, I have no problem with a Vampire Knight/Vampire Paladin/Vampire Cavalier, that is, a Vampire who - since he can't change into a bat - rides some steed; there might even be some "Horse Necros" whould necrofy horses, making them undead so that they would carry a Vampire (living beasts would shy away from them, obviously).

However, the Grim Rider/Grim Reaper is an abomination: the steed looks like a ghost steed - wtf? And if it's Vampires riding them, what the hell are they doing with a cowl and a scythe?

It's like, "hey, everyone likes that Grim Reaper guy, kind of scythe-swinging skeleton or wraith-like apparition on some weird horse, great stuff - however, problem: DOESN'T FIT THE LORE." "Ok, the name is cool, people will love it - let's make it Vampires on some ghost-white mare."

It's like, "hey, we need some real cool guys for Inferno, Devils would be great, satans, sheitans, lucifers, whatever - however, problem: don't fit the lore. Solution: hell, Liz Hurley was a totally cool devil in Bedazzled, so how about this: we take Succubae and so they have this special forces team of them in Sheogh, called the Archb1tches, with only the meanest and most evilly cunning Succies can become a member of, and of course they have a further elite circle you must have ruined at least one fiefdom for to get promoted to, the upgrade, called the Archdevils." There you go, problem solved.

You see, the problem is - the names are completely DEVOID of their original meaning. They are selling labels, so people say, wow, Grim Reapers, cool. It's like this advertisement for tooth paste, where some chick starts babbling about how she was a "dentist's wife" ... wtf? It's just to get in the word "dentist" - must be a great product then. They could have picked "dentist's cleaning woman" as well, for that matter.

In other words: bull.

Completely agree.

That's why people keep complaining about lore and designs. They do not evoke what that creature is supposed to be all about.
Let me quote myself on this issue in regards to Vampires:

Stevie said:
Look, no one blames them from trying to be "original", the problem is that in pursuing that they became blind to the main point: creating a VAMPIRE. That's what people complain about. That thing they did there not only it's not original (Warcraft, WH, W/e) but it's also not a Vampire. When I showed it to my mom, she said it's a "knight with sword".

There are certain features people expect from a creature. With a Vampire they want to get a sanguinary appearance, claws, fangs, black/red capes with large collars and a malevolent stare, not a poker faced supermodel wielding a sword.

I think its good sign that people are flipping out because few lines of text describing a creature or if lich is skeletal or mummified. It means that core of the game is solid when we are focusing on flavor and look of the few creatures

Correct me if I'm wrong - but actually we have no idea about the "core" of the game, and consequently we have no idea whether it's solid or not either.
