The issue for me is that their trying to put bits of the old game in, shows they don't know why they keep f***ing up.

As far as I understood NWC already made new versions of old heroes for the different games, so UBI is only continuing this tradition. Many of you will agree with me that H6 is the worst iteration in the series. Still the stories of Ashan Sandro and Crag Hack are very good. That's why, as long as the story writing is decent enough, I prefer them to use old heroes in a new jacket over new heroes that are a wannabe version of our good oldies.

Oh please, people have been screaming Sandro, Solmyr, Crag Hack and whatever for I don't remember how long. Maybe not you, and I didn't (mostly because I couldn't care less, either way), but many fans did. And frankly, picking on them for something as trivial and unimportant like this moves the focus from the actual problems that do matter, namely gameplay.

I like this discussion. And heroes forums in general. Rarely you see people arguing over nothing for almost 700 pages

My old Renault is still in my garage. It drives and looks exactley like before. My experience with this car has not changed. But when I want to buy a new car? I will, but it most likely will not be Renault anymore. I will serch for another brand, that still does the type of car I like. The only way I'm still buying new Renault models is IF I LIKE THEM. I will not buy it for the sake of brand (which has lost meaning anyway). And I belive that's how most people would react. People who still purchase Chinese Reanults clerarly like the changes.
And this is great analogy. Heroes 1-4 still exist. You can play them. If you don't like Ubi heroes, don't buy them.
Or ... maybe you meant that over night, my neighbour would break into my garage and pimp my car, while I was asleap. When I wake up, my car would be ruined.
Now this is just silly.

Sorry but I am not part of the people who decided to give up the minute they saw the franchise going down the business path. You guys have the same freedom of ignoring my comments than I have to express my opinion on a public forum. I like references to old stuff, lore, heroes, reuse of things that are cool. Of course, unless those are not forced and do not seem to be a tacky marketing move.
I find it pleasure to discover some binds with older world and apprieciate when things that I like are used- simplly ause they are good. It is much better than enforcing sth new that has weak concept, is far too controversial or is just not a good idea.
Older Heroes games (and M&M as well) were reusing many things and have been making references to other games all the time- just look how many things HoMM 2 simply reused from HoMM 1 or how HoMM 3 reuses stuff from M&M 6 (and then M&M 7 did same trick, but with HoMM 3).
The truth is that fans generally like old things and warmly welcome them. Of course, new things are much needed, causewhat would be the point to play the same game?
Besides, most of the fans demand all the time old Heroes or return of some thngs- so Dev just gives us what we want. I personally like that- unless they would mix Ashan with sci- fi.... but when thinking about it, than they could reuse concept of dragon golem and change it into spder golem qute easily

The Dragon Golem on the H4 cover always looked like a Spider Dragon to me.
Even made up a creature based on it.

My only beef with bringing back old heroes is that there is no reason to include any of them. Sandro, Solmyr, Taurnum are OK but only because they are basically immortal. And even they are only good if they are the actual immortal heroes from the previous games and not just their namesakes as they did with Sandro and Crag Hack.
So what should I do with Darkstorm for example. Cool looking sorcerer minotaur is a great twist on a dungeon hero but there is no real story behind him other than being in the previous games. No campaign or personal flavour just the fact that he was cool looking and had an acceptable skill combo on start.

Passed on but did not die if I remember correctly. Would be an actualy good segway to introduce him. But let's not pretend. Its's not gonna happen.

Dev can make just their counterparts, I am fine with that, they do not have be same persons- oh God, that would mean that those are same worlds. And that I do not want to.
Reuse some heroes, even names, is not bad- I woul same good caue older fans will probably smile and remind older scenarios. All those, who do not know older games will get decent lookinghero with cool name.
Besides, some heroes just shall be in every Herooes game- at least references to them
What I reallly do not like is the $****y lore that tries too hard, is overcool- like that Tyris and Edwin are now married. For what is this s***? As heroes I am fine with them, but this is so cheap and goofy, so forced....  
Maybe Malekith and Tazar are also a couple, or Mehphala is in relationship with Adelaide? Or just change the gender of one of the heroes- because it was often discussed on forums and is now popular theme.
Also while Edwin, that always was old man with face blistering with boredom written on it, is now a young and pretty boy?
Oterwise I am fne, cause it is cool to see them again and their portaits are well made (altough I hate this fetish of young and pretty people- come on, now even mages are youngsters, and heroes who are said to be old, like Kryzstoff, look like they were in middle 40 or or max early 50- that is not that old, at least not)

Uh... please, no characters from the previous universe in Ashan. I mean, equivalents are fine, but not the same characters. That would be too much.
While I'm actually looking forward to seeing Ashan's Solmyr, I honestly hope there'll be no Tarnum, for reasons of my own.

Better not have them at all. Token heroes are actually a hinderance to the development of new ones.
And hearing Gauldoth utter the phrase "Asha uses all." makes my skin crawl.
