Frankly, I much prefer Heroes 6 designs of Necropolis to any visuals from the older games, spider-themed or not.

MM8 vampire

You won't ever be able to convince me that this doesn't look disgusting. Ever. Perhaps nostalgia blind some of you guys to it, but... This is not a decent design.

First, we need to see H6 vampires and liches without armour so we could compared MM8 desing to H6 Necropolis design.
So far you say that H6 desing is better but you forgot that in MM6-8 your charackters could simply wear various clothes:
Leather armor

Chain mail

Yes, some are bad but others are great.

Color coding in clash of heroes...? Every unit came in at least 3 different colors cause it was part of the game, not the lore. You guys are over thinking it

I guess you miss official CoH's Necropolis artwork?

Tell me this isn't colour codding.

Avonu, we're talking about the default outfit here - it's cool that you can change it, but it still makes their starting clothes problematic.

___

I love how there are two ghosts on that picture and one of them is purple, while the other one is green.

The other is Fiona - CoH's heroine, not a purple unit.

In that case give me some time and I will equip MM8 vampire with "default" outfit (read: used by vampires as items description suggests).

Hey, I know who Fiona is - I played Clash of Heroes, after all. It's funny that this artwork makes it look like it's Markal who's the main character, the person in charge here. When you reconsider the events of that game's Necropolis campaign and take Markal's actual goals into account, it's not even that far from the truth.

look at Avonu's post, just because you can select one spider outfit it doesn't make it cannon

Because when your arguments fail to hold water and convince people, making fun of them will surely do the trick.

Dude, just look at it:
Green+Purple+Spiders+Sumerian(not Egyptian!) architecture+Spikes+ Vampire carbon-copy of Arthas. If there were let's say just 2 of these I would say nothing, but this is too much of a coincidence, then you are trying to blame urban culture. If it was the western culture we would have black Gothic Necropolis with Dracula-style vampires. How can you say that they just come with the same ideas just randomly, even after Erwan stated he played Warcraft and WoW was already a giant on the market. Plus the architecture they use isn't pure Egyptian so you can blame the Egyptian dead rites, it's a mix of Sumerian buildings and Egyptian obelisks spiced with spikes which is the same as Warcraft's, then they add purple and green. Why wasn't it Egyptian architecture combined with Sumerian fortifications for example? And besides it's sumerian+obelisks why isn't it black and red or dark blue and dark green? Why toxic green+purple?

well, the default outfit is the one they have in the character screen i assume (considering you can see it under the armor in those pics you posted) and that the outfits the characters wear in the creation screen are only avaliable to that class.

My point is that there has been some association between undead and spiders in the MM franchise before. Now if you can make a (ie) knight or troll with the spiderweb outfit from the beggining (which would mean it's not completely specific to the vampire) then i eat my words. But that doesnt seem to be the case.

If character starts with armor skill, (s)he also have basic armor in backpack - so this character default outfit can be other then you see on creation screen.

The difference is that you have one necromancer model in game assiciated with spider theme (other one and 2 vampires had nothing with that) and in-game all necomancers and vampires living buildings in cities have IIRC none spider theme.
In H7 not only units are associated with spiders but all their city is one big spider.
Again, I general like H7 Necropolis (but there are many things to correct) but I think even you can tell, that there are too many spiders in this town, line-up and units design. Not to mention all these spikes.

Examples: Cryx from Warmachine, Necrons from Warhammer 40k, Though not glowing, Death's horse in The Book of Revelation is called "Khloros", which can be translated as "Pale", "Sickly green", "Yellow green

because dead things are pale, because blood is no longer circulating

And it says that purple is used because it can be shaded better.

If there was just green and spikes I wouldn't say anything about warcraft and ashan necro

so basically, that's their underwear? Ok. But they're still spider themed outfits unique to vampires and necros (the vampires outfits have black widow red clocks slapped to them besides looking like spiderwebs Avonu)

Like i said before, im not saying that they were "SPIDERS EVERYWHERE" like Ashan. But they still associated spiders and undead which was the question originally asked

Now it makes sense

Seriously, white colour also is associated with death in some cultures, so colour-coding is not so important... if it is not over-used like in Heroes 6.

Yes, that was their underwear.
And no, spider theme for undead is IIRC used only by one character in all game... when she can wear other outfits without problem.
As for "black widow red clocks slapped to them besides looking like spiderwebs" - this picture below is also spider themed?

another fun fact you may like to hinge all your arguments on: the Ashan necromancers consuming animal fluids to become undead has a basis in Might and Magic 3 from 1991 lol

Quote:
Open graves can be found all around the Cathedral of Carnage, most likely the source of the Ghouls and Bugaboo that wander about. A strange creature known as the Lamprea is used by the Clerics of Moo to animate dead bodies and create the undead warriors associated with the Moo cult. Bodies that have been recently re-animated may still be willing to provide help before they fall completely under the spell of the Moo Master.

Quote:
Ghouls come from the musty ground of the grave, brought to undead existence by the quickening fluid of the Lamprea. They leave their victims weak and are resistant to physical damage.

moooooo lol
