Small vid with JVC playing.

I don't have much time to play, but insofar I'm having a great time, actually managed to get a couple of decent teams making good uses of colors and combos, the whole part (not shown in the vid) where you think of your teams and level up your creatures has top notch immersion. The random element also is used at its best!

Is anyone else playing this besides me?

I might give it a try soon, but during the interview I read this 'all done in a swipe, convenient for grinding'.

Urgh....grinding :/

I can't play it now as I'm abroad but I will try it early January

Maybe it's mentioning battles, it's as you can see in the vid with JVC, most of the strategy happens before the fight.

JvC in it's credits got me interested, but when I looked on the gameplay itself... well I don't like this type of games so I'll pass.

I noticed some discussions about music in this thread - Rob King composed all of the music and sound for Creature Quest.

For full disclosure, I work on marketing/community, not dev. But I do sit amongst all the devs and I handle this so they can focus on getting the game out.

Speaking of which... we have not announced a formal date yet, but we're getting really close!

hi mate, well as an olde fogey type gamer who is an MM and JVC fan for decades and certainly wants to like it, but is a bit put off because of the art style and the whole mobile games tropes and all that, I'm curious what would you argue,

basically can you possibly mention things to entice someone like me, does it go out of its way to avoid the boogeyman pitfalls of nasty microtransactions and such or are there any interesting callbacks for an old fan or whatever, cheers for any reply, also big kudos to you for engaging here with us lol

(the Rob King/Paul Romero thing is for sure one such enticing fact lol)

Ah man, yet another community manager. Sorry if that's a bit rude of me, but frankly I've had enough managing in the past years to be disgusted for a lifetime. Well, at least you're not on Ubisoft's payroll.

That said, I went out of my way out of boredom mingled with a bit of curiosity and tried to download the game last night. I didn't realize that the game wasn't globally released until after the fact. Should I take it as a sign?

@verriker - without getting into it too deep, if you know JVC's style, it's that the gameplay comes first. Hopefully once you spend some time with it, you'll see the depth involved, as JVC tries to push games available on mobile devices to the next gen (in terms of depth and maturity). The Quest maps, the Creatures, the combo-dot battle system, the PvP with Dungeon Building... a lot of great elements with ties to JVC's style.

@Stevie - technically not a "community manager" but I understand your perspective. I don't know who came up with that corporate term. There's typically always someone to handle marketing, re: assets, ads, PR, 1st Party, etc in order for the launch. I didn't want to pose as a developer if that's my role, so you can call me "that marketing guy" if you'd prefer. Bottom line is we're a tight team hand-picked by JVC and want to have a direct line with his fans.

Regarding the current availability, consider this current phase as a beta leading up to the global release.

Dont write if you dont play. Its nonsense if you said I dont play, but I dont like because another mobile games Ive played was money thievery. Idiotic speak. Jon told YOU MUSTNT PAY TO PLAY! Paying in this game is for special additions. You can play long time paying nothing. I dont play so I dont tell how it is. Everyone can see it just playing. ITS FREE!
Now is mobile time and its good Jon go in this world. And welcome Jon partners in game creation in our community. Its good to have contact :-)

+1. Creating video games is a job. People have jobs because they need jobs to survive. And how game creators survive? They sell games and they need marketing/advertising for that. Marketing is a job, not an illness.

Calling a game you don't like "money thievery" or "cash grab" is a superficial reaction; you wouldn't call a car or a house that doesn't correspond to your taste a cash grab, would you? Its same thing.

Sure. FYI we'll be releasing a lot more info (plus some walk through videos) next month, but in the meantime a short summary of each:

Quests - you'll explore maps to discover treasure as you encounter and battle a variety of Creatures and obstacles along the way. Different Quests are available each day, in a rotation based on the Quest type (represented by Color Dots and regarding overall difficulty and loot types). We'll add new Quests all the time and have special event/seasonal ones.

Dungeon Challenge - you can build your own Dungeon with your Creature collection and attack rival dungeons as you climb up the PvP leaderboards in weekly events. There are individual and guild rewards for both progress during the event and also final rankings each week, where you'll earn tons of loot and even some Creatures.

cheers pal, well if it is as deep as you say I will see if I can give it a try over Christmas break, a reason I didn't bother was I assumed it was a bit sparse and simple but I'm open to correction so will likely take a whirl of it based on that lol

I'm curious if you guys have an irrelevant person outside of this forum who you're quoting or if that's just a really bad strawman of me or someone lol

Nice to meet you StoneRose and welcome to HC!

On one hand nice to hear you will be giving more info and some tips, on the other one the lack of it has a charm of the old days haha

Please pass my appreciation to JVC and the team, it is a nice aim to higher the standards of mobile gaming, I have a feeling this game is going to be a huge hit.

Also, even if useless and naïve from me, please tell JVC that we really want a new Heroes game made by him!

Thanks, guess I'll start right away with a few things I'm not sure to have figured out, the white and black colors are independent from the other ones yes? Also not sure I got the use of the dots on the first creature of the row, what does it do exactly? Sometimes I see I have extra multipliers but I'm not sure I get where they're coming from, I like to experiment and make mistakes, but that costs me rubies, which leads to a small suggestion I'd like to make: give away more rubies we never have enough of them! Also when you level up it replenishes your energy, but if you still had most of it prior to the level up it just adds what missed for a fullbar, you feel it a bit like a waste, couldn't it add up to what you already had the same way it does when you replenish it with rubies?
