Hi RoseKavalier, feedback from the community. A player claimed that he got this msg when checking Advanced Properties


In order to reproduce, you will need to use his custom h3sprite.lod and his map. which can be downloaded here.

Now try to use the validate map feature (Shift+V) and then double-click on any map object (for checking adv properties) to see what's happening. You should get this screenshot if nothing goes wrong.

Bug report


When certain artifacts are equipped on a hero, sometimes other, unrelated slots become unavailable for that hero. Also, often a combo artifact cannot be equipped even though all slots are free.

I remember this was fixed in an earlier version already, maybe the change was accidentally rolled back?

I think (at least for Elixir of Life) it is considered to take the same slots as Angelic Alliance.

Findigs on hero seed bug

Findings on hero seed bug:

when a hero seed is set for one hero (e.g. 3) and the dialog is closed by OK and then another hero dialog is opened, the hero seed mask displays the value that was set for the first hero. However,this is at that point only a visual bug, as the primary stat prediction still shows a range if no new hero seed is set (suggesting that internally still the value 0 is used). HOWEVER, if this window is also OK'd, then the new value is set! Similarly, if the window is canceled instead, then the correct value gets loaded

First heroes  initial setup (first image should show experience for level 59, I took the screenshot before setting it):

Setting hero seed to 20:

Close first heroes dialog.

Place a new hero on map, first time open dialog; seed shows 20 immediately, however primary prediction is still for level 0:

Close dialog by OK. Then open second hero dialog again, now the prediction was set for seed 20 (even though we never set it ourselves):

However, we place a new hero (after again opening previlously a hero dialog and setting the seed to 20), we first get the expected 20:

HOWEVER, if we cancel out of that dialog, on the next open the hero seed is now correctly set to 0:


Also, if we now remove the second hero from the map and place her again (Lorelei), then open the dialog after again previously setting a nother hero to hero seed 20 we of course get 20 again:


This time though, if we close the window by CANCEL, then open it again, the hero seed is again 20:


As such, this seems to suggest that the hero seed is correctly stored seperately for each hero. However, there seems to be a bug with how the hero box mask is set: my guess is that the value does not get initialized correctly upon opening the dialog, hence it keeps the last value. I think it is initialized with the actual value of the LAST opened hero instead of for the current hero. Hence the correct value is loaded if the dialog is canceled and then opened again for the same hero, but shows the previous hero seed when checking a new hero for the first time.

Simply initiating it by reading the stored value could fix the issue. However, it is hard to tell without having access to the source code.

Findings on EAccessViolation bug when checking prison heroes

This bug affects all prisons equally, not only ones holding special heroes or with entry overlap etc.


However, it SEEMS to only trigger on prison heroes. HOWEVER, once it is triggered, it will also appear when subsequentially checking any other hero. It can be fixed by placing a varying amount of new heroes (which also will all show an error message of this format).

Other than that, I am having a hard time finding any leads about why this might happen. I cannot find a reliable way to trigger it. Maybe some hero seed data is written to illegal addresses?

This bug was apparently fixed in the beta version of the editor but reemerged at some point later. I reported it in this thread 2 years ago (on July 04, 2020 08:11 PM) but it has yet to be fixed

I just downloaded the latest version from my post and it worked as it should, so I was puzzled.

Then I remembered that I unwogified my editor options:
>Unleashed>Data>MapedPatch>Options.ini


Number of Monsters=150
Number of Artifacts=144
Number of Dwellings=109


which prevents the triggering of the bug

error after editing new map in Heroes 3

Hello everyone,

thank you for the great editor. I found this topic yesterday and downloaded the base package which is on the first page (from the year 2017). I created a new map, saved it in the homm3 steam file where are all other maps, and it appears in the game. The problem is, every time I try to play my map I get an error:

"The programm has encountered an undefined behavaiour, see the logs for more details"

(I do not see any details)



All other maps work, only those created by me don't. Do you know what did I do wrong?
