Not necessarily so. I am not very enthusiastic about this option, but we will have to look what's better for the general concept of the game.

No, we don't consider porting the mod to VCMI at this moment.

New heroes looks great. Most of them seem to be warlock/witch.
Are they going to replace current heroes from existing towns?  Or they will be in some upcoming town - maybe some dark elf inspired?

Can't really see a dark elf town fitting in in the H3SW concept, to be honest. There's not enough to make an entire folklore-inspired town around them (even if you count the 'myrkálfar' themselves as appropriate enough to fit in the H2 style, what do you do for the other six creatures the town needs?), and of course while dark elves do exist in the canon, their society is over on another continent (and is the second coolest dark elf society in video games).

Yes, it's enough to have them that way.
Though, we don't have dark elves even in the hero rosters. That grey-skinned elf is the Vori elf, the "high elf" equivalent of the Might & Magic universe.

Mod Request

Hey everyone!

First of all, I apologize for posting an irrelevant request in this thread, I couldn't figure out how to create a new one and my searches for old threads didn't turn up anything...

Second, this is for unmodded Complete Edition. I'm a long time player but for some reason I've never ventured into mod territory in this game. Besides WoG, which I played for a few months, I've only played the vanilla versions and the Complete Edition. I would like to stick to them, but would love to play the game with a custom hero. I haven't hex edited anything in 10-12 years and after some research, I think it'd be too great a task for me to understand the codes and experiment with them. Would anyone be so kind to make me a custom hero or help me find exactly what to change? I don't want anything fancy, just a custom pic, name, bio, specialty and skills. I'll sacrifice Alamar if a pre-made hero is needed. I'm planning to install a 'hire any hero' mod, so I'd be able to play thorugh the campaigns using my custom hero. If anyone is willing, I'll give all the details I'd like him to have.

Thank you in advance to anyone who's willing to spend some time helping me!

How is this mod coming along? Has it been completely converted? I remember last time I tried it it was years ago and there were a lot of HoMM3 assets not converted to HoMM2 and not all factions were changed either.

I haven't played HoMM2 a lot, maybe 1-2 hours in my life and the reason is that I can't get adjusted to the balance, I can play HoMM3 just fine, but in HoMM2 I seem to get defeated by everything very easily, so how is the balance? Like HoMM2, like HoMM3 or a mixture of both?

I'm really looking forward to experience HoMM2 in a more modern way, when I tried the real HoMM2, it just felt so dated and limited in every way, especially how many artifacts each hero can carry.

version 0.8.2 is here:

from what I remember (from trying version 0.8.1) it has at least 6 fully converted town types (7 according to release trailer for version 0.8.2)
I did not encounter any assets from HoMM3 - it is essentially HoMM3 game mechanics with HoMM2 aesthetics
regarding balance it feels much closer to HoMM3

many WoG/Era mods reportedly can be made to work with it (despite no official support for it from orzie)
HDmod works with it as well

We've done a great deal of graphics - more than we probably dreamt of before. However, what we need for the next release is programming, and it's not gonna move until November I suppose.

Not gonna happen anytime soon. It does not make sense to port an incomplete work to another platform without a goal of completing it there, not to mention little sense in dealing with VCMI in general.

Well, slightly belated thoughts on integrity. Don't make features of HoMM3 unshakable just because some limitations of the engine. I understand that you cannot eliminate wait for it will require rewriting the whole AI part. But, you can still make flying units to behave like their HoMM2 collegues. Also you can rewrite spell system as well as secondary skill system, so that they correspond to original spells/skills system. Don't make exceptions just because something is "impossible" on the HoMM3 engine. All is possible with hands from the right place. And remember that the final result, as the name of the projects implies, should be HoMM 2.4 rather than HoMM 2.6, if you know what I mean

While some things you say are true, we are neither H3 or H2 - I'd say, it's more like an alternative sequel slash remake. H2 was a nice game, but it was not perfect, especially in terms of magic and secondary skills.

We cannot.

While Wait removal is dubious because it seems the majority still likes it, our magic 'system' is definitely not a choice - it is because we don't have enough steam to remake it as of now. We need a programmer's help for that, as well as many other H2 (or brand new, like some new spells or some redesigned secondary skill mechanics) features, including the campaign mechanics which are now on hold and which are seriously needed for the next release.

We did have a demonstration video with some of the features partially working, even. See 0:42 and 0:55 for instance.

Regarding flyers, I raised a question in the team's Discord on a close topic (regulating the battlefield starting points), but I didn't see enthusiasm. The problem with H3 mechanics here is that creature speed defines creature battle order, while in H2 things were more flexible. Again, we need a programmer to do something about that.
