I watched how some rioters are happily plundering a deserted supermarket. Loads of people are coming in and stealing. This included Blacks and Whites, also poor people and rich ones (judging by the cars they got into when done looting - I can't afford those, lol).

I would be seriously worried if I had a car near any people who I would suspect could decide to vandalize it. Makes me wonder if participants in riots ever experience their own property getting damaged by their fellow rioters?

If you steal a crowbar in order to smash your own car on the street, is it rioting?

Maybe the rioters are only destroying their own cars and shops. Like they read something on the news and then light their house on fire. I do this twice a month at the bare minimum.

Here’s 2013 data on drug-related crimes, which comprise the majority. The arrests of African-Americans seem out of proportion.

I've seen only and one Black coffeeshop near metro. Many White coffeeshop, but Black client never seen. So don't broad-minded at US. You should watch around the world.

There is some serious issue here in the mentality of those people. Ofc there are thieves everywhere, but when you see a girl drive near a store in an expensive car, go in, take two pairs of boots and leave while smiling towards the camera, you can't help but go WTF is wrong here.

How much of this behaviour do you think would be reasonable to attribute to the brain death inducing USA media? Hollywood and reality shows seem to have seriously damaged most Americans' perception of reality.

@Blizz,
Not that I necessarily disagree with the premise of your post, but there's not enough information there to make any kind of conclusion. "Illicit drug use" and "Drug Arrests" are vaguely defined categories, so a 1-to-1 comparison isn't possible. What are percents of in the top plots? Are the other 80% Hispanic or something?

Sorry, your argument may be sound but it's not supported by the graphic at all.

@Cor:
I'm pretty sure that the top pie chart is the estimated percentage of each population that uses illicit drugs, rather than the racial makeup of all drug users. So there's no unaccounted for 80%, it's just meant to show that illicit drug use is more common among black communities, but how the arrests and convictions are far more unbalanced than that statistic would account for.

That said, it is missing things, like how much of the illicit drug use belongs to more hard drugs, like crack, the general amount of drugs that are found on those arrested and convicted, how many arrests and convictions are for use and how many are for dealing, etc. It's not perfect in the slightest.

So, a guy is executed (slowly, in a public place, while the situation is being recorded, despise several people trying to help) cause he may, eventually, tried to pass a counterfeit 20$ bill and then this beautiful, well spoken, young girl makes a public appearance where she cites an American conservative black author, to explain why she is not on board with protesters: because her community (blacks) is "the only community that caters to the bottom denominator of our society", that they "are the only people that fights, and screams, and demands support for the people in our community that are up to no good".
Conclusion, we should all shut up cause he was (probably) committing a felony, so the police was on their right to murder him (slowly, painfully, in front of the eyes of a dozen witnesses).
And you have the audacity to talk about fake news? This couldn't be more faked. Of course she is being paid to say this, it defies all common sense.
He is not an hero, he is a victim.

Why am I not surprised that you tout a video of a right-wing conservative Trump supporter who's been communications director of the Turning Point USA group.
Against abortion, against feminism, member of the NRA, anti-muslim.

Personally, I think, she's misguided, at best.

Your conclusion defies common sense. She couldn't be more eloquent in her speech so that everyone can understand what she agrees with and what she doesn't agree with. At no point have I seen her excusing the murder, that's only you constructing your straw man there.

And why would anyone be even remotely interested in the propaganda speech of a right-wing conservatibe black female Trump supporter schooled in communications NOW?

I mean, aren't people starting to wonder WHY there is always rioting in these situations? It's like in these old Hollywood movies about Britain in the 17th and 18th century and some mutiny. Some Captain runs a tight ship, and the crew is always near mutiny. Someone made a small mistake and is lashed for it, and it's one drop too many and there is mutiny.

THAT is, what this is reminiscent of. Because the situation isrepeating itself time after time, but nothing happens.

Ops, I didn't finish hearing the video and I'm in the wrong here.
Not that I don't believe there is serious motives to the protests or that she is on a payroll but I was too quick to jump in and in fact built a straw man here. My bad.

It's simple, because of you. By you I mean the idea you support, that minorities of colors should never being held accountable for their failures, as those failures are only a direct effect of white race oppression, slavery, systemic racism yada yada.

So why not riot, if the only issue will consist in getting a bigger paycheck.

Should we tell them stop bickering and solve your outrageous criminality problems, I bet there will be a different outcome. But one can dream, as having the black community dependent on paychecks and welfare ensure their votes to a certain side.

How would I know? The situation is pretty hopeless and based on utterly inept social politics, laws and law enforcement realities. Every measure shy of overhauling the whole system will probably just close a couple of holes and open up some new ones.
There is then the question of jurisdiction; the fed gov is responsible for some things only, while others are under the responsibility of the States. Add to that the fact, that long-term policies are notoriously difficult to enact, especially in a system like that in the US and the vagaries of enacting radical changes (there can always something go awry really badly in the process), and it's clear that no one really has an interest in long-term solutions.

Politicians want short-term measures with fast results so they can take credit for them. What you don't want as a politician, is starting a process, get no immediate results, have that thrown back at you, lose office and then your successor boasting about how good they are, when something good eventually happens.

If Floyd can't be our hero, how about Martin Gugino?
White, 75 years old, completely isolated yet trampled by the police and left behind bleeding from the head. A single shy movement made to help him was immediately discouraged by the other officers.
Somehow, I feel it portraits better what is happening right now. Not an isolated act of brutality from one police officer with others containing the crowd but a legion of police officers marching over a fallen compatriot with no regard for his live. A clear statement on how the Police looks at the people they were sworn to protect.
Not a few bad apples.
