One thing I find funny is the bloodlust the lefties have for Americans and the West to get involved right here. Knowing that absolutely none of the keyboard warriors would lift a finger to serve.
Propaganda has so demoralized them to not even care that Biden abolished the southern US border to flood fentanyl and sex slaves around, but all of the sudden a nation across the sea we have no defense agreement with by design, must be defended with the blood of deplorables.

Still confused as to why the Ivans killed off the Donbass Spartan commanders, sure Motorola was shooting near his own positions for laughs (with a nade launcher) was a little 'crude', but the breakaway regions would've fared the 8 years of isolation a little better with having these jokers around imo.

I always seemed to have it stuck in my mind my entire adult life that the next big conflict was going to be somewhere in East Asia and that the worst of the East/West troubles in Europe was water under the bridge, but it seems that Europe wants to maintain its streak.
I have occasionally watched videos of Putin speaking for many years now. Without exception, he has always appeared calm. Several weeks ago I watched a clip where he was talking about the future potential of missile silos in Ukraine, and I could tell in his voice that he was genuinely anxious and angry. I have never heard him sound like that before. That gave me the idea that maybe a war actually could happen (because Putin alone is enough to make it happen), and now here we are and Ukraine is getting invaded.
Everyone is going to be worse off from this but it seems almost guaranteed that Russia will be the biggest loser, including if it has a military victory. There is some territory in far eastern Ukraine that is strongly pro-Russia and primarily Russian-speaking. Annexing those sections ought to be relatively easy. The rest of the large-sized country of 40+ million is very much divided, and sympathy in the Ukrainian public towards Russia will deflate now that the invasion is underway. It seems inconceivable that Russia could/would occupy the entire country (and publicly it said it doesn't' want to do this). The cost would be catastrophically high. Best case scenario it can make some small annexations in the east and then threaten future invasions now that the entire world knows they are reckless enough to do it. There's the idea of having a new and more amiable Ukrainian government put in place to Russia's favor, but I don't understand how it would ever rule effectively because as I've already said, invasions always make public sympathy collapse. People may continue to show loyalty on the surface for self-preservation purposes, but that display is all a house of cards when a government is operating without a mandate.
My prayers are with the people of Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church has been working very hard in a very difficult situation, as they are a people who politically, culturally, psychologically, and religiously co-exist simultaneously in an East-West mindset; belonging to both and yet not truly belonging to either. In a way, the entire world is gradually and increasingly finding itself in that sort of paradoxical position in which the tug and pull of various affections and loyalties lack the simplicity of bygone times. I do hope as many people as possible can make it out of this alive.

Well, Russia goofed. Not just because they invaded Ukraine, but because they also threatened to invade Sweden and Finland if they joined NATO. Which… not even Kazakstan or China were willing to look past. China joined in the sanctions and Kazakstan condemned Russia’s invasion and denied the legitimacy of the “breakaway” states that Putin is pretending exist.
So… Russia is pretty much toast economically. The value of the Rubel is already in freefall, and without China backing them up that will only get worse. When you add in the constant stalling of their military advances, Russian troops straight-up giving up, the growing anti-war protests and the plummeting of Russian stocks, this invasion and how Putin’s administration have handled in have been an unmitigated disaster.

No, no. The inner circle will kill Putin before it comes to that.
I mean, they have a lifeline in Russia: if things go belly-up they can always "dethrone" Putin and kill or gulag him, blame him for everything and pledge to be good Russians again. The world will accept that (but of course try to be better prepared for the next Putin).
So there is some hope that total desaster can be avoided.
