Stevie said: But glad to have the video nonetheless. Also excited for the arena playtest. Hopefully it goes smoothly with no connection issues and the like.
Hopefully! But to be fair, hiccups are kind of expected in a playtest since it's all about finding and fixing issues before release.

Okay, but like, who cares? Seriously, why does that matter?

Honestly, this. This seems like the nichest non-issue to complain about. Oh no, they didn't mention the niche adventure game that 95% of HoMM players haven't even heard of in the 50 second gameplay/ arena beta trailer, and put in a line that pretty clearly meant "Haven't seen in a HoMM game before" in-context? Sounds like we riot.

I see where both sides are coming from. It’s understandable to want a nod to past games, especially when a familiar location is being revisited —those connections help build continuity and depth. On the other hand, marketing trailers are designed to quickly showcase gameplay and appeal to a broad audience, many of whom may not know that history. In a short, fast-paced trailer, deep lore references aren’t always a priority.
However, the real issue with this trailer lies in how the sentence was phrased. The construction made it seem like the continent was being introduced for the first time, which, for those familiar with Day of the Destroyer, feels misleading. A simple adjustment to the phrasing could have avoided that confusion, especially for people who are following the lore closely.
That said, while the trailer might not have been the best place for it, there are other ways to acknowledge the history of this location. A dev blog, an in-game codex entry, or even a subtle Easter egg could be a great way to give that connection without slowing things down for everyone else.
And honestly? It’s kind of nice that we’re having this debate at all, because it means we’re finally back to caring about the original HoMM universe again.
