Salamandre said: It is his last term, so approval doesn't mater. The regular guy doesn't necessarily understands that the world of tomorrow is a world where 3 powers, China, Russia and the US, will have to battle hard to compete for influence zones and what derives from, he still thinks US is untouchable, but the US whose GDP was 50% of worldwide 50 years ago, is now only 20%. Trump got it and does what he thinks is right to stay and even win the race.
Europeans aren't concerned, they already lost and are out of this race, then their nations will suffer terrible downfall, both economic and geo-politic. Their frustration is the now the trigger of the putinophobia and trumpophobia we experience. Such phobias and idiotic biases do not exists in the major parts of the world, where everybody understood what is at stakes and takes a side.
So you are a clairvoyant now, in addition to not being "the regular guy".
Of course, your logic being as faulty as it is, I'm not even surprised that you don't leave that doomed place called Europe and try your luck in China, Russia or the US. You might have a career waiting as a palm-reader in some amusement park.

Vladistovok.
If you move to US, just FYI, anything by the Gulf is basically H3 Fortress. People move there because it is warm and then they realize that they get more than what they bargained for. Move further inland like Austin and it is a big improvement.
Don't come to Maryland. The gray squirrels are attempting to usurp the government and take full control.
Still, if you want to meet up sometime, we can have a few beers and then dye our hair blue and vandalize some buildings together while screaming that Trump is not our president. It will be fun. Afterwards we will post a video of ourselves on Tik Tok having a meltdown.

But you are so… European.
Isn’t Europe still the best place to be a classical pianist though? That much is still the same, I guess. Why are you leaving, what changed on a daily life basis? Is it economic, high taxes or something. If I remember right, it was Gerard Depardieu who quit French citizenship because of taxes, lol. That was like Elvis quiting U.S. citizenship.

GDP?
It depends on the investment.. For example in monopoly, it's easier to understand.. You have a lot of monopoly currency about 150,000, but one of the blue properties aren't bought yet.. The opponent arrives and buys them.. Guess what? Your 150,000 will be wasted..
Finland is rich, thus woods, water.. But not used investment.. The same event in the Soviet, but today Russia uses resources.. Not OP.. Look at Ukraine.. What is Trump waiting for? Nobel? And then to take care of things? I mean Ukraine..
Again.. If another country sells well, so economics is strong.. It starts eating another economics..
Not easy.. Economics is publicity.. The army, etc don't needed.. Ok Napoleon, but some are hidden.. I mean the army.. When my friend believed the US has UFO.. And mind weapon rumour from Russia.. But the same thing, the US dropped an atomic bomb.. The Soviet attacked to Japan.. And today nuclear-weapon state.. Thus hidden is revealed..
Ok

If you are serious - Québec seems like the place to go. The province, not necessarily the city. Say, somewhere in between Québec and Montreal.
Although - a lot of snow in winter

When I was 18 yo my first option was Canada, the dream destination. I applied, I showed my diplomas, prizes and such, they didn't look and said "You need 200k $ in bank to come here". It was quite humiliating because for a Romanian in 1990, 200k was about 100 years median income. Now I have a beef with them, especially when I see how permissive they became on immigration later.
I never was a town guy, I prefer hut style in the middle of forest, or near sea, somewhere near mountains, far away from noise and anxiety, so that is for now the starting point for research. Asia or Eastern Europe have tons of such places.

Hmm. "Asia" is a pretty big area, while Eastern Europe is ... Europe. If your vision was right (it isn't because I don't see India becoming part of one of the other three, just as an example), then you'd probably get back to speaking Russian a lot.

France is way too expensive if you seek comfort. Then there is obviously something else too, no need to precise.
Turkey is on top of my list, so who knows. Anyway, is very energy demanding to prepare expatriation at my age, so it may take one year or so until things get cleared up. But is on way.

Ugh. I legitimately hate the Mediterreanean.
If I lived in Europe it would be England or northern Spain/northern Italy, i.e. the nice part of the countries. Except nobody lives in northern Spain and it is all redneck country, so northern Italy I guess.
The Mediterreanan is an overly commercialized cesspit and it is too damm hot and stinky. I am sorry. The people are cool.
I would also actually like to live in Ukraine in Odessa or in Crimea, except for, well, you know. Certain disagreements.
I am never leaving USA though. I love it here.

TURKEY?
Well, how is Turkey with the exception of Istanbul and the tourism coast (which has its own disadvantages) better than France with regard to "there is obviously something else too, no need to precise"? Especially considering you don't want to live in Istanbul?
And with that said, how is France bad with regard to "there is obviously something else too, no need to precise", when you don't want to live in big cities, but prefer forested areas, near mountain or sea - RURAL areas, in other words? I'd say that in the Ardennes region life should be cheaper; also, the other thing shouldn't be a problem either. Somewhere between Reims and Metz and nearer to the border?

In Turkey, Antalya is quite cosmopolitan, many Russians and Ukrainians, working-class British live there. It’s by the sea and historical. Bodrum is also great, my mom lives there and I visit, so you’ll even have the privilege and honor of meeting me in person if you move there. Ayvalik, where I live, is rather a small town compared to them. Not many foreigners but it has great pine forrests, the climate has almost no humidity and the sea is better.
Istanbul is a completely different beast, of course, but that would be like moving to New York which seems like not your cup of tea.
@JJ
There are very secular zones in Turkey. As long as you dont politically target Islam, they wont mind your life style. But I guess you’re right about France having them too, if that is what he really means. I also figured so.

Step 1: Alberta leaves Canada
Step 2: Alberta becomes a US state with full citizenship rights.
Step 3: Yukon and Northwest Territory join them.
Step 4: Profit.
Step 5: Falkland Islands becomes a US commonwealth and a major naval base is established.
Step 6: Invade Antarctica. Arrest any penguins who resist.
Step 7: Profit.
I can sort of understand leaving France but I have no idea why you want to go to Turkey. Just go to Italy bro.
