9/7:
Djive plays Camelnor: 2/0, 2/0.
First game was close. Second was won when Camelnor lost a piece and queens were exchanged at a time when Camelnor was standing better.
Dar_Kraven: You schedule your own matches. IM your opponents when you have time to play and ask them for a game.
10/7:
Djive plays Sir Elric: 2/0, 2/0
Djive plays ThE_HyDrA: 2/0, 2/0
Djive plays Nebuka: 2/0, 2/0

*is lobbying for playing at a different place*
Maybe it is just me, but I think the Chess Program at the Zone seems quite bad. I had trouble with the tiny pieces and I missed seeing good moves(and good moves my opponent had) often.
I know that it is fair, since everyone has to use this layout, but I am fairly certain that out of my 4 losses, I would have won at least 2 of them had I been able to clearly see the board.
Thus I suggest we use another one, maybe yahoo, or any one where the board is clearly presented(and larger!).
That is just my thoughts. I am not saying Djive or Thunder are bad, for they were both good players, I just think the layout has a good portion of the blame of my losses.
The 10 min time I dont like(and that might have been part of the reason I lost those games), and I suggest 20 min.. but I will live with 10 if it must be.

I partly agree with Camelnor. Chess Client is much better place to play than Zone. It can be downloaded from www.freechess.org.
But instead of 20 minute games that Camelnor did suggest, I would prefer 3 minute games. Or better yet, let the players decide the time they play in the zone and let the 10 minute games remain as a standard if the players don't come to agreement with time limit. I also disagree with me being good player. I'm only lightly above average at best. Or that's the image I get from Chess Client.

You can't change the rules of the game once you've started.
The chess on the zone wasn't and isn't exactly a master piece. (It seemed to, for instance, lack certain intelligence when it comes to draws.)
Myself I'm a bit suspicious of the clock and the time. Seems to go awfully fast. Wondering if they have implemented it in a correct way. (Time should for instance stand still for bpth players from the time a player has made a move, until the other player sees the move on his screen.) Perhaps, it's just so that moving pieces takes longer time to do graphically than manually in RL.
It's always possible to play with other times, but it seems to be difficult to arrange games even with 10 minutes time, especially since you have to play two games after each other. That would be 80 minutes maximum for one opponents with 20 minutes time.
3 minutes. It's tough to just have time to move the pieces. This game requires very little skill. You just move reflexively and hope the opponent time expirtes first, and that you're not check mate before that time expires.

Hehe Djive, that's what I'm saying of people who play 1 min games or 10 second games with fisher of 1 second. They require very little skill. But 3 min games provokes quick thinking. Try playing against couple high rated people in Chess Client and you know that they require some fast thinking.

If you read the rules, it says:
Quote: 4.Games will be timed, 10 minutes each player played on the MSN Gaming Zone.
*Note* The time can be changed if both players agree otherwise stays at 10 minutes
Quote: when do i play?
You play whenever you can. There is no set date. Just find someone to play.

Points all up to date
Sorry for the mix up between Thunder vs Nebuka scores are now correct.
Good to see everyone is getting their games under way, wish I could say I was doing well but as you can see it's not the case.
We have some good players here so watch out the rest of you, check the leader board and start practising heh heh....
Some of you are yet to play a match please post your preferred times to play so the others can work out a schedule or at least let me know if you are going to play at all as there are others who could fill in.
I am setting a dead line 4 days from today 11/7/2002, if you haven't played a match you will be dropped from the competition and replaced.
Good luck(I know I need it LOL)
