The new Academy townscreen is so ugly I've got a cancer.
It's the same poor and unprofessional style as it was in H6.
It's shocking that in 2014/2015 we can't reach the nice level of H5/H3 townscreens.

well she's got more going on for her than any of the core tiers with their "human with spear", "human with crossbow" and simply "wolf". Justicars does have a holy dueling shield maiden vibe to her which is really unique and fresh compared to the rest of the faction plus that gorgeous helmet. best helmet in the franchise so far without question. (moreso basic than upgrade but that's not important)
oh, and one of only 2 creatures with a face. that has to count for something.
seriously, she is way more interesting than the rest of the faction, beaten only by celestials and maybe cavaliers and dire wolves if you really stretch it.
Justicar is probably my new favourite unit finally beating the h3 dragonfly. Then again i've always been weak to shield maiden type characters so that's hardly surprising.

Can we at least agree that neither were particularly well executed? H5 was cramped and drab, and H6 had all those stupid organic buildings. Say what you will about H3 Inferno, but at least their town looked decent.

I don't think the Academy town screen looks that bad. It just looks a bit lifeless. I think the Heroes 6 town screens were a bit uneven in terms of quality. In my opinion the Necropolis and Sanctuary ones were quite good, but the Haven one looked really bad. I do think this Academy town screen looks better than most Heroes 6 ones.
Regarding the Justicars, I like them a lot. I agree with kiryu133, they do bear a resemblance to Shieldmaidens and they have a unique design. I'd take them over Radiant Glories any day.

... or "human with sword" ... yep swordsman is totaly diferent than justicar. It dosen't bear similarity to swordsman from past games at all ... let's face it, she's female, and that's all the diference, and behind that mask and heavy armor, when zoomed out extremly in-game, guess how she'll look like... On another note - why the hell did Angels need to be downgraded - YES downgraded - to celestials? Even in unit description it says they're only "half" angels. I never call them celestial anyway I always call them angels. To me Angels were one of the best units in Heroes games, and also one of my favourites - they were powerfull, they could ressurect the dead, their stats were amongs the highest if not THE highest of all (tier 7?) units... and now they're just half of that. I have a great idea, why not remove Black dragons and replace it with Grey dragons! Yea, and for the lore let's type they're half Black half Albino dragons.
It's like this:
How would you like a cake for your birthsday? ... Oh you want it? well this year you get half of it! The other half is plain bread. Yea half-cake - that's all you deserve

well the concept is still mostly the same, but there are some really important differences, example swordsmen before have always been more tin cans than anything else: bulky, medieval knights clanking all the way while the Justicar is a light, gracious duelist rather than a heavy-hitting soldier. While the classical favours brute strength and relies on his armour for protection (+shield in h5), the Justicar appears to be more active and parries blows away instead. i like the gritty knight we've had before, but that is kinda already taken by both the swordmaster and the spear-guy, which adds to her uniqueness. bonus-point for actually being the only non-champion unit with a sword too. though a long axe would've been better...

Another thing that makes the Swordwoman just another boring human unit is the fact that her abilities are bland, boring and simple.
If those abilities would be more magical, maybe I would have liked her more. But too bad, they aren't.

So you practically wish for a return of the Heroes 6 Haven. Because being all bright and shiny equals magical. You do realize that the only things magical about Haven should be the Abbot and the Seraph, right? That's how it was in Heroes 3 and I liked it a lot. That's how it was in Heroes 5 and I liked it too. This is how it's gonna be in Heroes 7 and thank God for that. If you're so in love with magical Haven, by all means go and play Heroes 6. You're part of the minority.

Beautiful! This is THE BEST HAVEN LINE-UP EVA! It will be so bright, so colourful! Ton of elemental variety. Ubi, please, let Haven in Heroes VIII look like that!

While I earlier expressed my disappointment in the blandness of the Haven lineup, I think one of my other big issues with it is that it isn't rugged. It's less sparkly than H6, which is a good start, but the armor for all of these units is still pristine and expensive looking.
If I were to design a Haven lineup I would ensure that the Elite and especially the Core units had a battle-torn almost sordid armor look. And they all wouldn't be able to afford to provide full-body armor, which is apparently in abundance in both H6 and H7. From there the Champion unit would definitely be a special fighter who had the best (but still not glamorous) armor that the Empire has to offer.
