Excuse me, but could someone please provide a link to a picture/concept art of the wolves, as I only saw ONE type of wolf in a screenshot of some sort, but never realised there were 2 separate ones until I read the last few pages on here.

Thanks. Wow, I like them but of course it would make more sense if one was the upgrade of the other...

Also posted them in the Heroes 6 creatures thread.
I'm sure it was already discussed and I've missed it, but is it safe to assume the other light elemental thing on the Christmas tree is a Haven boss, since we have all 8 neutrals now?

Ah okay, I guess those wolves were not counted during those interviews back then. But the number of bosses is still 8, right? And we still don't know any of the Necropolis ones?
Edit: Oops obviously I meant besides Mother Namtaru.

For All those people hate the idea of Wolf in Heaven and Sub factions...
I think you misunderstood the idea itself.
Think about it.
You have two feuding families. One has a Gryphon as Banner, the other a Dire wolf. Why would the second one use Gryphones, which are the icons of there rivals, when they have the knowledge to train Dire wolves, that are there own banner animal and suits there nature better.
The idea was not to make a playable sub faction that would have one different unite, but a Campaign only special similar to the Heaven in HOF
And by the way.
living animals are much more fantastic than any legend. All you have to do is understand them.

Exactly, it's a perfect way to bring some flavor into the campaign.
Remember when they introduced the "red haven"?
This'll be a smaller difference, but it makes perfect sense, and would be a rather nice addition.

Then it will be civil war! *Thumps chest*
But honestly though, from the looks of it, the Wolf Duchy (the Germans) are shaping up to be the big bad in at least one of the campaigns.
It would at least make sense to have them enlist wolves to the army even if they aren't recruitable from a town.

Purely an opinion, as is, for the most part, the following.
Whilst it is certainly true that Wolves are fascinating creatures, they are very mundane compared to the fantastical.
I'm a complete and total biology nut and a person who almost religiously watches National Geographic, Animal Planet and other such channels, so I know how incredibly amazing something as "simple" as an Earthworm is.
That doesn't mean I'd prefer an Earthworm over a Hydra.
So I like wolves, but I feel they could have added a much better creature.
Like on a satsifaction scale of 1 to 10, Wolves score a 6 for me (passing grade) but say.. a Lycantroph(Werewolf) would have scored a 8 or 9 likely depending on how they handled it.

Haha LOL!
Yeah because if a fictional creature like a Black Dragon existed then surely it wouldn't be fantastic and amazing?
I wish they made both wolves core instead and then have the Dire Wolf as the Timber Wolves upgrade, would make a lot more sense in a way and people would probably stop complaining...
Edit: stupid typos, Care =/= core, Factional =/= Fictional...

So,if you see a flag with a rat on it,does it mean that the particualar faction enlists rats?
They dont have to use wolves because they are called the "Wolf" duchy.
Wolves are redundant in H6,not to mention the recolor...
They wont change it though, its a decision that had been made a long time ago apparently.
Dont worry, you will have your awesome hard hitting, first atack wave of uber mega wolves vs some spider queens,pitlords... But northin is as awesome has an angry wolf.

I think that they should replace all the creatures with some animals.

I think it's nice to have a blend of "fantastic" and "realistic" creatures.
Besides, wolves have been in the series since game one,
so I'm more than inclined to cut them some slack.
Yes, they're boring, but at least they're not utterly ridiculous like some of Ashan's more "original" creations.
Of course, Ashan doesn't have that many creatures to begin with,
which may be the source of some complaints.

Yeap my feelings exactly, I don't think that introductions of some real life animals would be that bad in a fantasy game, my only problem with the way wolfs are is that there pretty much the same model re- skinned, so if the dire wolf would be on the side of a more magical animal lets say an experimentations on regular wolf that made there way back in the wild etc., and would be a 4 square large with a black mane red eyes and some magic ability like melting in shadows (when attacked 20% of dmg deduced) or something like it would be fine and could pas as an elite, but as I looked the in-game screen-shoat it left me kind like ...
P.S. Even in real life the dire wolf had bigger physical characteristics, so it still brothels me way the look exactly the same when even the inspiration source presents them as different...

The familial crest of the Ironfists back in Might and Magic I (1986) was the White Wolf.
The familial crest of the Gryphonhearts since Heroes III (1999) was the Griffin.
Wolf family, Griffin family.
Wolves and Griffins are important in Heroes, god damnit!!
