How often do you get dragons?  Usually my games finish after I have maybe one or two weeks worth.

Getting dragons is very hard, but not impossible. Perhaps it's the rushing to leve5 guild that prevents me from building them most of the time. But honestly, I can't defeat things like endgame haven with chain lightning, I REALLY need implosion in that case.. >_>

Btw, the upcoming expansion will bring new destructive spells, one of which is already known (deep freeze). I wonder if they add another more.. for now it's 2 dark, 2 light, 3 summoning and 1 destructive spells, so I sincerely hope for at least 2 more

Dungeon army is incredibly weak in late game. Only army that it is able to defeat without spells is necro. But in this matchup you cant even take your hole army with you because your lizards alone will kill all your units. Even with your spells its not easy to defeat sylvan in one fight. And heaven is almost imposible to defeat without hit and runs, if its not a rush fight that is.

If somehow we can cut haven's economy, they are far weaker, as they become normal faction with no cheat (a.k.a training).

Hey

I had few more games with dungeon lately and i must say something. Shackless are just not fair. I have lost every singe game lately with dungeon to shackless and 80% of my total losses is due to this thing. Its sad how this thing ruin games. When your opponent gets things like ring of speed or staff of netherworlds there are always counter strategies but there is no counter for shackless, it just kills you. For me this item is a dungeon killer and should be banned coz it doesn't affect any other faction so much . And dungeon simply must to use hit and runs to have winning chance with some other castles.

For those who say that say that hit&runs are overpowered im saying: learn to play , or ask others how to do it. Of course im not going to describe ANTI-Dungeon strategy in this topic, but ask Betruger, he knows something about it.

This would be my final post in this topic since i need to retire from playing for a good while and the topic is pretty much dead anyway.

My final opinion about dungeon is that if it wasn't for shackless it would definitely one of the best castles or THE best perhaps.

I simply feel that I cannot let that stand without a short comment.

Maybe there are ways to counter Hit'n'Run strategies, but I still say, rather than banning Shackles, one should balance Dungeon so they stand a change w/o having to rely on Hit'n'Run. Like you say yourself, w/o Shackles, Dungeon would be one of the strongest factions, if not THE strongest faction in the game - how would that make banning of Shackles fair to all the other factions then!?

Shackles are easily overpowered vs dungeon but I believe it's not the root of the problem. The problem is that dungeon is generally a weak castle overall. Unit's growth is pathetic or they are just bad one way or another. Even black dragons may be beaten up relatively easily because of weak initiative and warlock's pathetic defense. So, no might way for warlock, sory.. The only exception is taking attack/leadership to move 1 tile(furies, grim raiders) more thanks to tactics/aura of swiftness but that's it - rest of the skills are all about magic and hit and run abuse.

IMO, the best solution would be to remove surrendering and retreating from this game and we should get a strong dungeon instead after next patches - warlocks do deserve it. None of the castles should be based on hit and run gayness and the word 'skill' and expression 'hit and run' should never been used in one sentence unless thay are seperated by a word NOT. Starting ATB mess and resistance(up to 45%) lottery + hit and run may not be all about fun for everyone..

Simply. Most people don't know how to repel hit&runs. When i was playing against  very good players i havent managed to win with this tactics ever but it gave me a way to engage fair fight.

Im not saying that they are main problem. Perhaps peoblem lays elswhere but what can we do about it? We are not Noval , we cant fix things. Im just saying what we can do.

Hmm ... it would be very nice to get to know of these anti-Hit'n'Run strategies if the full problem should be evaluated, but just call me old-fashioned, but I think Hit'n'Run is a sneaky and dishonest approach.

For me its a very basic philosophy of this castle. Not without purpose Furies have hit&run attack... Yrwanna is a Fury too

Imagine what could you do with fury who doesnt have hit&run and no retaliate ability Thats shackled warlock. Can do some damage but will die very quickly.

Fully agree with Feluniozbunio, on some LANs when I got shackled it was over almost instantly. my quickest loss was against Deleb with a boosted numbers of familiars, some regular units and ballista ofc; she rushcreeped (crept? ) Dragon Utopia and got that artie, plus some neutral familiars joined her. I was immediately drained and blocked, and the battle took 30 seconds

And yes, it's scary mostly against dungeon. That shows our castle's weakness - we have no chances in "regular" combat many times. Dungeon needs to be played in a smart, rushy way, that's it.

Feluniozbunio, will you return to H5 when 2nd expansion gets released? We have to master the orcs, you know

With dungeon against the AI the only problems I had were vs morale/luck combo knights (on heroic). Last time I needed to armageddon the knights whole army - together with my army of course. Everything was dead besides my deep hydras which appear to be as tough as the black dragons (at least I lost about the same number of dragons as the deep hydras). Anyway - a town with a decent stack of deep hydras is almost invincible - providing you kill the enemy ammo cart first.
As for the small grouth - against every other enemy I rarely lose more then couple creatures. Besides of blood furies. If the AI has creatures with speed of 9 or high initiative ranged troops they all concentrate on the blood furies giving me to nuke them all.
