That sounds a bit familiar - two twin brothers, sons of a mortal woman and a deamon, one good one bad, bad want's good guys powers to release the demons into the world of humans - excuse me but that couldn't be more like DvilMayCry3.

Who said it has to be one good and one bad? The Demon Sovereign could train both of them. It's just a matter of time before one of them becomes power hungry enough to turn on the other and tries to steal his powers.

Why do you so much ensist on that - anyway what would we gain to the storyline and how would it become better if so had happened - all we get is more chars stuck in the conflict  - is the problem with the new storyline everyone has and the thing everyone considering it stupid for actually the number of chars and conflicts between them?

Actually, the biggest problem with the Heroes 5 story is the lack of character development and motivation. We don't know how Agrael betrays the Demon Sovereign and turns good all of a sudden. We don't know why Markal wanted to invade the elves. We don't know why Nicolai turns all evil even though he has his old personality. We have no idea what kind of person Sareth is and why he's willing to risk his life to do all the crap his master puts him up to. With the campaigns in Heroes 3 and 4, there's actually plot and character development. In the "Price of Peace" campaign in Heroes 4, we get to see how Emilia develops from a simple peasant into the leader of a nation. We get to see Solmyr struggle between his oath to King Magnus and what his own beliefs as well as his doubts over Magnus' sanity.

The other problem is that the story isn't nearly as "dark" as it was purported to be. A "dark" story has more to do with complexity and intrigue rather than violence and ruthlessness. Look at the Heroes 3 campaign. The Necromancers don't just go around slaughtering people, they actually have a careful plan for conquest. First they use Lord Haart to assassinate King Gryphonheart. Then they coax Nighon and Eofol into a war with the weakened Erathia. After a full scale war between the different factions, the Necromancers raise all the dead, steals King Gryphonheart's body and uses his knowledge to conquer Erathia.

Sandro being a Necromancer.  But don't forget he was stupid enough to land himself in prison before the Wars started, so partial credit goes to King Finneas Vilmar.

About Nicolai:  He's evil because he doesn't have a soul, or if he does, it is deeply broken.  Same thing happened in Buffy.

since they've inspired a lot from warcraft, they should have payed attention to its storyline as well, which is the best in my opinion.(from all strategy games)

Agreed.

But World of Warcraft destroyed everything (charakters get mad and killed  and aliens comes from spaceships etc.)

H5 Storyline is very strange. Like someone said before its very bad because som charakters do things without any reason.

That's not all...

Yeah, with WoW you have to buy the game, buy hte expansion, buy the second expansion, pay to make an acount and pay every month unless you get a piratic game, piratc expansions and play in piratic server. It's an MMORPG so you can't expect it to have single player, but the bad thing is that you have to wait for other people to disconnect to connect - how much waiting do you think it is if you are the N2000 to connect - 2000people have to disconnect and 1999will connect untill you connect. And all of that paying isn't the end cus I think it offers micro payments - buying special stuff with additionall real money. Besides there are those maniacs and addicts that would spend fortunes on WoW. A guy both a WoW character with a unicque wweapon for (take a very very deep breath) 10000$. Also there was this woman playing WoW that posted on an MMOsite that she'll have sex with the guy to giev her 5000 WoW gold. It seems MMO's make people freak out while they are actually not that good as games - most are too monotonous and you get enough of them too soon - that's what happened to me when I played an MMO called Silkroad online. So you either hate MMO's or fall in love with them and get addicted - It seems me and watcher hate them(Amen bro).

Nicolai turns evil because he was raised as an undead even if he doesnt want to conquer the elves he is forced to by Markal who controls him completely. And about  Agrael he is deemed a betrayer because he's got free will and defied the sovereign seen any other demon lord that shows free will.Demon lords in Ashan are like satyrs in Warcraft there lines are like ,,Insert random commander of the Legion, commanded us to stop you and we shall".
Too bad i wasted half a post showing the stupidity of satyrs

He fell in love with Isabel and wants to protect her.

We don't know why Markal wanted to invade the elves.

The nobles opposing Isabel (and Markal) sought the help of the elves. Besides, Markal is a powerhungry Necromancer. Why would he NOT try to expand his territory? If it weren't for Findan, the Dwarves would probably've been next. Or the Dark Elves.

We don't know why Nicolai turns all evil even though he has his old personality.

Because he's undead and under Markals control. He obviously doesn't like what he's doing, but he's forced to

We have no idea what kind of person Sareth is and why he's willing to risk his life to do all the crap his master puts him up to.

Because 1. he was raised by his master and doesn't know better 2. there is only so much character development you can put into such a game without ruining the Imersion of the player. Guess why many player characters don't talk much, but have an assistant of some sort (a fairy, an AI, whatever) that does the talking instead?

Bottom line, the main problem is that the storytelling in the original game was so bad that most people didn't get what was going on. The characters might not be that deep as in Heroes 3 and 4, and the story is suspiciously alike the Warcraft III one in some parts, but there is a definite plot and reason behind the game.
