I hear two pairs small of feet running towards me in the hallway.
"Victoo-or! Wait for me! Varjo said that we should stick together!"
I smile to what I hear. It has been too long since I last lived in a house with children. I turn and walk towards them slowly. Victor runs upto me and pulls down from my left sleeve.
"Sir Lieutenant said he had a message for you...", he doesn't get to finish as Fate shouts over his voice.
"I want to tell him too!", she looks like she's going to start crying but she steels up and just stares at the boy.
"I reached him first!", the boy shouts him back and a glaring contest ensues. I break it up.
"Victor, you should have waited for Fate.", he bows his head a little.
"Next time you'll wait for her.Understood?", he nods. I take his hand and lead him forward. I pick Fate up to my right shoulder.
"And next time you'll run faster so he can't let you behind, right?", she wipes of the solitary tear at her right eye and smiles to me.
"Right! I'll be faster for sure!"
"So what was it that the First Lieutenant wanted me to know?"
"He said..." "...that the new..." "...recruits had..." "...arrived.", they explain in fast succession.
"Well I quess we better go meet them then.", with the girl at my shoulder and Victor walking alongside me I head to the entrance.
I let Fate down from my shoulder as we reach the entrance. A group of five newcomers is standing on the doorway. One of them especially jumps out. It's quite small, a little under 160, and has blue fur. Fate immeaditely goes to pet it. It does seem a little akward of the situation. Another one sure to catch the eye is a young woman all dressed and maked up in black with black hair and even her eyes seem dark. She also has numerous scars on her arms. One young guy who wears all torned up clothes, has dark spikey hair and large headphones. There is also an adolescent girl and a boy. They both have blond hair and they dress casually. They seem hauntingly alike except for one thing. The girl has a competely white left eye and the boy right. Bloodmage steps forward and gives me his notes to me.
"These are the new recruits, Sir!", I take his memo.
"Thank you Lieutenant.", I quickly skim through the notes and start calling them out.
"Cedric 'Yin' Amanuenko?", the teen boy steps forward.
"I am."
"You are capable of giving good luck. Is this correct?", he salutes.
"Yes, sir!"
"Why did you apply to join M.E.G.A.?"
"I wanted to serve the people as my parents and granparents before me, sir!"
"Good, you may step down.", he steps back to the line.
I add 'presumed trustworthy' and 'important' to his profile.
"Cecilia 'Yang' Amanuenko?", the teen girl steps forward.
"I am."
"You are capable of giving bad luck. Is this correct?", she salutes.
"Yes, sir!"
"Why did you apply to join M.E.G.A.?"
"I wanted to serve the people as my parents and granparents before me, sir!"
"You are two are twins are you not?" she salutes.
"Yes, sir!"
"Good, you may step down.", she steps back to the line.
I add 'presumed trustworthy' and 'important' to her profile.
"Jake 'Buzz' Riley", the young man in torn clothes with headphones steps forward.
"That'll be me."
"You are capable of projecting circle saws. Is this correct?"
"Yeah, sounds right."
"Why did you apply to join M.E.G.A.?"
"It's either this or the castle. This sounded slightly less revolting at the time but seeing what this place looks like I'm having second doubts."
"Good, you may step down.", he steps back to the line.
I add 'possible turncoat' and 'expendable' to his profile.
"Maxie 'Payne' Taliarroco", the goth woman steps forward but keeps silent.
"You gain power by enduring pain. Is this correct?"
"Yes."
"Why did you apply to join M.E.G.A.?"
"Working for Mega is the best chance I have to experience the most things."
"Good, you may step down.", she steps back to the line.
I add 'possible turncoat' and 'important' to her profile.
"Zqztuqzekzqzaqzzhqiqzmz 'Pipsquek'", I play the name that Bloodmage had recorded to the memo and the blue furry thing steps forward.
"That is mine."

"You are capable of changing your form. Is this correct?", to prove it's point it changes it's form to Fate who was just stroking it's fur.
"That is so.", it changes back.
"Why did you apply to join M.E.G.A.?"
"I wanted to be a part of something."
"Good, you may step down.", it steps back to the line.
I add 'important' to it's profile and hand the notes back to Bloodmage.
"I am First Commander of this base! This one here...",I point to Bloodmage.
"...is my First Lieutenant. He will show you your current quarters and inform you of your schedule. If you have any questions appoint them to him or to one of the base's regular personel. As of today you are part of the M.E.G.A. so act like it! Welcome to the Western M.E.G.A. Law & Order Practical Training Center, 'Discipline'!", I pause for a while.
"Dismissed!"
Bloodmage starts leading the group to the halls where we keep our temporary living quarters. "The current living quarters are this way. The base is still in phase of construction so we are a little cramped. Also sanitary areas aren't up yet.", I hear the young guy interrupting him.
"What does that mean?", the goth woman answers him.
"That you can't use the crapper here, idiot.", I can feel Bloodmage's blood starting to boil this far off.
"YOU WILL NOT INTERRUPT A SUPERIOR OFFICER! If you have questions you make them known after I am DONE! GOT THAT?!"
Only five, well, you got to start from somewhere.

Night 5... things have progressed in the training some, but of course not much. Every night the recruits go to bed exhusted, but the bases are coming together. They seem proud of how much they have gotten done. The surrounding areas are worse then ever. Mega has suffered a few setbacks in the government. Other orginizations are taking advantage of the losses they have suffered to press their own agendas. Wylde is doing what he can, but Mega is in its darkest hours.
Which means law and order is pretty much out the window. Gangs have started popping up like weeds, mostly with Mutants at the head. It doesn't take a brain surgen to figure this is Coed's doing..but of course there is no way to track it back to them.
That night...
Team JS - The base alarms go off in the middle of the night. There is smoke everywhere. The base is on fire.
Team Overlord - You are on patrol around the base when a molitov (spelling?) cocktail comes through a window. You hear the sound of motorbikes starting up. Bikes come crashing through windows..and for some reason you are starting to feel much weaker. (They have neutralizers).
Team Ename - One of the recruits come running in, and tell you that 'Muzzle' is missing. They went to talk to her about something, and could not find her. Not in her room or on the base..and there is signs that her room was broken into. Many things are broken all over the base, and a lot of the work done by your team has been undone.
Team Varjo - A scream rips you awake. A door shatters open, and a bunch of masked people weilding axes burst in. They start hitting anything (or anybody) near them.

Still on the first day
When the hand-to-hand exhibition fights with Malice were about to end, Rev approaches Overlord with his report:
"The base is pretty banged up, but all the essentials are still here: there are several living quarters, diner hall, some basic weapons and armor in the armory, even two more or less ready training grounds for different exercises."
"GOOD..." Overlord pauses and looks at NX who is being crushed by Malice, "IS THERE ALSO A... LIBRARY?"
Rev looks at Overlord as though he was crazy:
"I don't think so... why?"
"NEVERMIND."
As the battle ends, Malice returns to Overlord and he addresses the trainees:
"ALL RIGHT, LISTEN TO ME, YOU SORRY EXCUSE OF WARRIORS. MY NAME IS OVERLORD AND I AM IN CHARGE OF EVERYTHING HERE. I HAVE WATCHED YOU FIGHT AND IT TURNS OUT SOME OF YOU ARE EVEN MORE WIMPY THAN I THOUGHT YOU WERE. THAT'S WHY I AM GOING TO DIVIDE YOU INTO GROUPS, BASED ON YOUR POWERS AND ABILITIES. EACH GROUP WILL HAVE IT'S OWN COMMANDER. THE GROUPS ARE AS FOLLOWED:
TEAM A:
WAIL AND RIPPLE. YOUR COMMANDER WILL BE MALICE.
TEAM B:
BOLT AND ARCAHIC. THE MAN STANDING NEXT TO ME IS REV AND HE WILL BE YOUR COMMANDER.
IF YOU HAVE ANY REQUESTS OR COMPLAINTS YOU WILL DIRECT THEM TO YOUR COMMANDERS, NEVER TO ME. THIS IS BECAUSE: A. I HAVE TO MANY THINGS ON MY HEAD TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR INCONVENIENCES AND B. I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOUR INCONVENIENCES." Overlord pauses for a second to see if everything is clear and turns to Rev, "SHOW THEM TO THE LIVING QUARTERS, EACH TEAM IN ONE ROOM. MALICE, GO WITH THEM. ENJOY YOUR REST, ROOKIES, BECAUSE STARTING FROM TOMORROW YOU'LL HAVE NONE."
Rev and Malice take their teams away and Overlord is left in the yard with the girl and NX. When the groups are out of sight he turns to the latter:
"YOU ARE BY FAR THE MOST INCAPABLE WARRIOR IN THIS LITTLE GROUP. IT WILL BE A WASTE OF OUR TIME TO TRY AND TRAIN YOU. HOWEVER, YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND MEMORY MAY STILL BE OF SOME USE TO ME. YOU WILL LIVE CLOSE TO US TWO, AND YOU WILL FOLLOW US EVERYWHERE, REMEMBERING EVERYTHING YOU SEE. YOUR ABILITIES WILL HELP ME RUN THIS PLACE MORE EFFICIENTLY. ALSO, I WILL BE VISITING THE TRAINING GROUNDS FROM TIME TO TIME TO SEE HOW THE OTHERS PROGRESSING AND YOU WILL HELP ME FIND THEIR WEAKNESSES AND THE BEST WAY TO OVERCOME THEM. UNDERSTOOD? GOOD. LET'S GO."
From then on things pretty much settled down. Malice and Rev trained their groups, teaching them how to protect and compliment each other in battle. Bolt's electric powers worked especially well under Rev's supervision. Overlord had a lot of work to do to keep the base running, but he quickly learned the most important military rule - when you a have a job to do, dump on those with lower ranks. And since Overlord had the highest rank around all that was left for him was overseeing the work of others, which he did well with the help of NX. The little girl was always by his side, because he figured that's the easiest way to protect her. All in all everything was fine, until...

Sun is shining low above the horizon colouring the sky above a deciduous forest crimson. A field of slightly yellowing rye slowly waves in the wind. There's a big rock in the middle of the field with a black cherry tree growing beside it. There is someone standing there, a woman. Her green dress slowly waves in the wind as does her long black hair. She has her head bown down and her hands together wrapped around something small. I run towards her but it seems as she's constantly slipping further away and the distance is only growing. When she is almost too far to be seen she raises her head. Her elegant face is ridden with grief and sadness and her emerald eyes that once flamed with a strong green flame of passion are now withered down by tears. She opens her hands and throws me what she was holding and whispers.
"You have forgotten me...", what she threw me was a simple golden ring, in the inside it reads Nikolai Aleksandrovitsh, 26.08.2573. I clench it in my fist.
"AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!", a woman's shriek rips me from my dream. It seemed to be coming from the living quarters. Four people burst through the door axes swinging. In a second they are already down with burning holes from my pistol in their chest. Fate and Victor also wake up. The alarm starts ringing. I pick Fate up in my right arm.
"Victor follow me.", I start heading to the living quarters with Fate in my arms and Victor at my trail.
"What's going on?", Fate asks. I stop and turn my face to her's. Her light blue eyes reflect confusion and fear.
"Nothing we can't handle.", I say in a comforting voice. She curls up against my chest and whispers.
"I'm afraid."
"Don't be. We will protect you with Victor.", I turn to the boy.
"Won't we Victor?", the boys eyes light up and he's face turns into one of determination.
"Yes! We'll keep you safe Fate!", she smiles a hesitant smile and nods. I start walking again.
"Stay behind me Victor."

But it is no use complaining - there exist far more pressing matters, to be dealt with immediately.
"I want you all to tell me when and where you last saw Muzzle. When you have completed this task, you will search Muzzle's room and any part of the facility you think appropriate to search for clues as to Muzzle's current whereabouts or captors."
My pupils obey promptly, with two covering Muzzle's room and the others spreading out around the areaa. I drain the shadow from Muzzle's room to provide light - though the brightness hurts vaguely.
Anything can be made into a training excercise.

No evidence was found of her current wearabouts. 'Druid' growls and says. "Enough of this. She is not here. Time to ask around." He calls a green energy forth and a couple of plants from outside grow rapidly and reach to him. "Tell me ... where is my sister." He listens. "I know where we must go. Follow." Without waiting to see if Ename does he starts walking. The others, even though in different areas of the house, come as if they know what is going on. They follow him.

he thinks to himself:Good thing i am already dead.this could kill someone.
Jorn jumps out of bed hits the fire alarm which sets off the sprikler system and begins running down the hall banging on doors.
he shouts"This is not a drill get your butts up and get a move on."

Jorn realize that the sprinkler system isn't going off.
"Alright Boys and Girl,
Looking like we are goning to do this the Hard way.
Grab some buckets..
Havic you fill them up and the reast of us will use them to put out the fire.
This is going to take alot of team work."
as the fire is blazing and they keep the water going.
"Pass the water with your right and the empties with your left"
With there lives riding on them putting out the fire and the smoke
fills up the air.

Team Ename- You find a rather large group of people after a few minutes of traveling. They have taken up residence in a run down and abandoned warehouse district. All of them are 'norms', and there is no sane reason why they would kidnap a mutant. Being part shadow two people walk right past you without seeing you (it is still dark outside) you over hear a conversation.
"This is stupid Rex. You know they are gonna come for the girl. We can't take a bunch of mutant freaks on. They are gonna slaughter us."
"Relax. If they come, we will just surrender and do some jail time, the boss tells us keep em occupied, we keep em occupied. Simple as that."
"I tell you this ain't right. I don't like those freaks any more then the rest of our group, but this is madness. We ain't even seen this 'boss'..."
They have moved out of range of hearing.
Team JS - One of the recruits looks at you. "Hey..ain't snow just frozen water? Too bad we don't have somebody with like ice powers." as they bail water.

Overlord, accompanied by NX and the girl as usual, was walking around the perimeter when the molotov cocktail hit the window. He turned to face the direction from which the motorbikes were heard and raised his sword. He tried to light it on fire to see better, but all it did was heat up a little and turn red.
"WHAT THE... DAMN THIS MUTANT BODY INTO WHICH I'VE BEEN SUMMONED. IT SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED BY THAT NEUTRALIZER STUFF. WELL, NO MATTER - I STILL HAVE ENOUGH ENERGY TO FIGHT." The Overlord thought to himself, "AND WHAT'S EVEN BETTER, ABOUT HALF OF MY ROOKIES ARE PROBABLY IMMUNE TO THOSE EFFECTS. IT'S TIME FOR THEIR COMBAT INITIATION."
Without even turning the Overlord shouted to NX:
"NX! GET TO THE TRAINING GROUNDS AS FAST AS YOU CAN. ALERT THE OTHER TEAMS AND TELL THEM TO COME HERE NOW. GO!" when NX started to float away, the knight turned to the girl, "GET BEHIND ME AND TRY TO FIND SOME COVER WHILE I FIGHT."
After that he turned back to face the enemy and shouted so loud the windows around him broke:
"COME HERE! LET'S SEE WHAT YOU GOT!"

Well, you are not sure how sane they are, but they indeed rush the compound. Luckily NX's levitation seems not affected by the neutralizer, though most of the others powers are. Fortunately, they really don't need their abilities. They arrive about the time the attackers burt through the door.
As soon as they hit the door, Bolt rises from through the floor, and grabs two. He smashes them together with ease, and drops them. One of the people attacking fires a gun at him, but the bullet bounces off of his hide harmlessly. His smile sends shivers down those near him. As he wails on the nearest you can hear him chuckle. "I have bolts the size of railroad spikes driven through my skin. You really think a popgun is gonna hurt?"
Ripple fights a lot differently, moving with the fluid grace of water, they are using a odd type of martial arts. Using their own attackers momentum and strength against them, there is no danger that any of them will even come close to being a threat to Ripple.
Archaic is having a bit harder time, using his staff to fend off those around him. Though he has skill, his older body lacks the agility and speed.
Muzzle is holding her own, and NX is staying out of combat. Turns out to be a good thing, when he rushes down to pull the elemental girl out of harms way. The 'neutralizers' are really doing a number on her..something tells you if you don't find it and fast..she will not make it. You have to destroy it, or it will kill her.

Overlord managed to fight as well as Bolt did, even with the neutralizer around his armor still protected him from most attacks and his sword-fighting skills were enough to handle a group of badly trained bandits. He saw the girl getting weaker by the moment an NX pulling her out. He growled under his helmet, it would've been so much easier if that girl just died here and now, unfortunately he could not let that happen. He had to protect her whether he wanted to or not (and he clearly didn't).Slashing yet another foe who was foolish enough to come close he looked around checking how the others fare. After a quick assessment of the situation he shouted out to his group:
"THIS NEUTRALIZER ARE STARTING TO PISS ME OFF! WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM. ME AND BOLT ARE GONNA HOLD OF THE ENEMY, THE REST OF YOU SCATTER AND LOOK FOR THE NEUTRALIZER. IF YOU START FEELING WEAKER THAT MEANS YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT COURSE. WHEN YOU GET CLOSE ENOUGH DESTROY IT OR CALL FOR ONE OF US TO DESTROY IT!", Overlord dodged another attack and drove his sword through some bandit's stomach, then he turned back and added: "NX, YOU TRY TO GET THAT GIRL OUT OF HERE, AS FAR FROM THE ENEMIES AND THE NEUTRALIZER AS POSSIBLE."
After that he nodded to Bolt and the two of them switched gears trying to push the enemy back to the compound entrance.

Team Jorn- The fire is out and everybody accounted for, but about half the work the group had put into this place was undone. Morale falls like a rock.
Team Overlord - It is Ripple who finds the Neutralizer. As soon as she shuts it down..you feel much much better. Also, though the fight was already going your way, once his power is back, Bolt shows you another reason they call him Bolt. He generates a powerful electrical field over his whole body, and slams his hands together which unleashes a lightning bolt. Anything, or anybody, in its path is disintergrated..which causes the people around to start running in panic..causing a rout.

Jorn calls for this troops to line up.Once they are.
"Listen.
I know i haven't been much of a leader.
Let's be honest..as a leader i suck.
But i am not going to let this stop me.
Something or someone wants us to fail.
I'm not giving up and the rest is up to you.
You can either let them win or not.
It's your call."
Havic stps forward.
"but Jorn all our hard work went to pot."
Jorn smiles
"Havic,When you was a kid?
Did you let the bully of the block beat you after he beat you up?
or did you stand your ground no matter how much you got beated up?"
Jorn looks at the group.
"The fire was our bully.
Do we just give up?
Or do we just start building again?
I can't tell you to do it.You have to deside for yourselfs."
he grins
"I'll be cleaning up while you deside.if you come join me then i will know your staying.If you don't it was nice knowing you."
Jorn starts cleaning up and doing repairs room by room.

he uses his sence of smell and smells gasline or some other form of
flameable liquid.
He turns around and looks to the others.
"This fire was started.
Someone or something started this fire.
If they are still here"
he looks minorly upset and shouts
"FIND THEM NOW!!!!!"

The bandits ran away in fear as Overlord, Bolt and Malice mercilessly slaughtered those who fell behind. When the last breathing enemy was out of the compound Overlord let out a deafening victory cry. He sheathed his sword and turned to face the others.
"THIS WAS A GOOD BATTLE. YOU FOUGHT A GOOD BATTLE. TODAY, AS I WATCHED YOU FIGHT, I REALIZED THAT MY ARRIVAL HERE WAS NOT A COMPLETE WASTE. YOU HAVE FOUGHT WELL AND WE WON!" The trainees raised their hands in a victorious cry... all except Ripple who just stood in the distance with a sad face. Overlord turned to look at the battlefield behind him and continued, "IT SEEMS WE LEFT QUITE A MESS HERE. BUT WORRY NOT, LET THE SIMPLE WORKERS CLEAN UP AFTER US. WE ARE SOLDIERS, AND TODAY WE EARNED OUR RIGHT TO REST. GO ON, ENJOY YOURSELVES, YOU ARE DONE FOR TODAY... WARRIORS!"
Happy and tired, the rookies and their instructors began to disperse, alone and in groups, looking for some fun. Before Bolt could go away as well, he was delayed by Overlord:

Bolt nodded silently and went away. Overlord approached NX and the girl. She was feeling much better, now that the neutralizer was destroyed. The black knight dismissed NX, who seemed happy to be able to finally get away from his terrifying commander for a while. Overlord glanced at the girl and without saying a word motioned her to follow him. The poor child had no choice but to obey... as usual. Since the day she was brought into this world along with her protector, she was always by his side. Not of choice, but because he decided that it is the easiest way for him to keep her safe.
And so the two walked in silence until they reached Overlord's quarters. But just as they sat down to rest, the communicator signaled an incoming call from Jorn's base, a very disturbing call...
