The machine was now visible and it seemed to know it. It seemed to be more determined to get Rose fast. That could not be allowed. I grabbed the chain, threw it around it's farthest leg and started running to opposite direction while tieing it around my chest. Soon it tightened and I threw all my body weight with speed on it.
"RAARGH!!"
I felt a huge tow and hitt the floor backwards. Auch. Bad idea you idiot! But it did what it was supposed to. The machine had flipped over. I released the chain, drew my pistol, switched it for maximum power and started shooting it. Shagrath didn't waste time either and soon it was engulfed in flames. The machine didn't seem to care much as it just flipped its legs under it and headed straight for the door. I grabbed the chain and tried to slow it down while shootin, but it kept going nevertheless. I took the pipe and tied the chain around it again. Then I started running and shooting the pipe on both ends. I hit my knives in the newly formed cracks on the pipe's ends. It was already through the door. When I got to the door I hit the pipe horizontally to the doorway and threw a smoke grenade after the machine. Now it wouldn't be able to get away without breaking the pipe or the chain. And because it couldn't see the chain or the pipe in the hallway it would have to come back to get free...

Shagrath was a mutant of honor, he would rather die than not finishing his job. He stormed after the machine, and found it in the smoke of the grenade. He jumped on it, missiles trying to hit him but missed. He punched through a panel, and found the source of the power to the machine. He would maybe die, but the machine would at least be destroyed, and the others saved. But if he survived he would be the hero of the day. He put his hands into the opening and sent the fire into the main system of the machine. The electricity in it were ruined, and it began stumbling around and sending both missiles and lasers to all directions. Shagrath stayed on, burned now by several lasers. He roared, and sent a final burst of flames into the system, and it blew up. The explosion sent him flying through two walls, out of the building. Varjo were lucky and got the wolf sent over him and they were both sent flying out the emergency exit as the explosion engulfed the building.

Shagrath bursted after the droid. Reckless. No patience at all. It was clear that he hadn't undestood the meaning of my actions. A chaos endured in the hallway. Lasers blasted from the hallway. It seemed to be shooting blind. At least the smoke had allowed Shagrath to get to close combat. There wasn't much to do. I couldn't do anything to help him, if he would lose the machine would be coming back...
Whuum! A missile from the hallway destroyed the pipe holding the droid. Now Shagrath had better prevail or the machine would have free run to Rose. I took my knives from the wall and went to see how Lumi was doing. Nothing serious, only a slight shock. Then everything went black.

'So much for not attracting attention.' Commented the Mindreaver.
Purrfect did not seem very impressed. 'It's just a field with acorns. Ever-growing acorns to be sure but I fail to see how that can help us in any way.'
'Yes I was kinda wondering about that too. But...Something is different here. There is something about these plants - the soil below them seems to subtly radiate with energy.'
The feline raised an eyebrow. 'Alright maybe there's something going on here. Maybe those guys that run tests over there have found something, let's head over to check with their progress.'
Mindreaver produced a vial out of his jacket to take a sample of sand. 'Just a moment.'

As the battle between the mutants and the (so far) unseen foe begins, Problem Child takes Rose and rans out of the building. Bear is right behind them, blocking the incoming missiles. He gets hurt, but his massive body enables him to push forward. When the trio is at a safe distance from the buildings Problem Child examines Rose. Then he turns to Bear who watches them, his eyes filled with worry and fear.
"She's fine. I don't even need to use my powers, she just needs time to rest. Are you okay?"
"I'll live. What do we do now, time traveller? We can't go back and leave my sister like that."
"No, we can't... and we won't", Problem Child takes a communicator and the numbers he was given earlier. "Umm... Bear, how do you use this thing?"
"You just press this, enter the number you need and wait".
"OK, thanks." Problem Child enters one of the numbers and within second he hears a voice asking him what he wants. "I want to speak with Gemini 2... I don't care if he's busy... Look, just tell him it's Problem Child, he'll come..."
"Problem Child? Did something happen?" Gemini 2 finally got to the communicator.
"We were attacked... I don't know what it was, but it came out of nowhere and shot Rose... No, no she's fine... She and Bear are with me, I have no idea what happened to Stargazer and the rest, I had to get Rose out before it ended. Listen, we need a new place to rest and plan our next move. I'm bringing them back to the Rebels' warehouse... See you there".

The Albino helps heal those who he can, you can tell he is a bit drained after. Everybody is ok, and on their feet, and Stargazer picks up what is left of the mechanical spider. "Should get this to a tech person and see what they can make of it. Maybe they can even trace it to it's maker."
Rose's eyes snap open, but it is obvious she is not the one speaking. The voice is old, powerful, and comforting (except for what it says). "The desert, somebody must warn them. A tradgedy is about to happen. The plants are trying to help. Somebody must warn them..." before she can say who to warn what she is out again.
Stargazer is next. "Dang, we have problems. Whatever sent this little toy is sending something much bigger and much more dangerous after the Geminis. Both of them this time. If that isn't enough, The remaining 'returnees' have gotten into one large mass and are headed toward Mega Capital. Lots of them, and more then a few are mutants."
Bear, still smarting from the missiles, says. "Looks like we have to split up. Who is going where? We need to move fast."

"You are staying here, you need to heal and watch over your sister." Problem Child was thinking about Stargazer's report. "Those robots that will come after the Gemini may come at anytime. It would be stupid and careless on my part to go somewhere when I'm already with them at the base. So I'll stay here and help the Gemini fight back the robots, the rest of may do whatever you want - come here or look for that desert with the weird plants. I'm sure Shyft will help you speed things up."

Malice was thinking deeply as she and Steam walk through the hangar. She tries to review the scenario where they are heading to.
As the huge hangar doors beams open she spun at Steam,
"So, we're going to the rebels' warehouse, which is quite a distance."
"What's the problem with that?", Steam answers arrogantly.
"Well, I'm going to bring my Gundam Heavyarms-Custom along the way. And sad to say, it's a one-seater type. So you'll just gonna fly behind me." She explained to him knowing Steam’s capability of flying.
“Why is that? You could always sit on my lap,” He joked. But before he could laugh for his own amusement, he felt the tight grip of Malice hand on his throat. It happened very fast that he even didn’t notice it coming.
“Throw me again some of your dirty jokes and I will see to it that your heart will be detached from your precious body!”, Malice threatened Steam.
Sensing that the lady is stronger than him, Steam raised both of his hands to show surrender since he can’t spit a word out. But Malice even tightened the grip, seemingly enjoying her deed while grinning. She then throws Steam on the floor when she realized that Steam is drastically choking. Steam tried to stand up holding his neck and coughing.
Before Malice approached her mobile suit, she reached something from her pocket. It was a communicator. He throws one over Steam who is still getting into his feet, and wears the other one. “We might use these,”
The hangar roof starts to open. Malice’s mobile suit begins to initialize, while Steam floats at its front. “So, what now?”, he asked through the communicator. Malice just smirked at him and blast off her Gundam into the air leaving Steam in heavy smoke. “Don’t slack off boy! Haha!”, she teased.
He tried to get off it and follow her. “You will regret this…”, he whispered to himself, “I promise…”

Stargazer decides to take a few people out to save Mega City Capitol. Not that she cared much about the current government, but things were bad enough without some sembilence of order.
"Try to limit casualties. I don't care if they are brainwashed or some sort of clones. We are trying to be the good guys. Disarm and capture. There will be mutants, keep on your toes people. It's about to hit the fan."
The rebel squad teleports to intercept the army on it's way to the capitol. Almost immediately they fall under enemy fire and have to seek shelter. Things start looking bad quick. Two of the Rebels fall to enemy attacks, they won't be getting up either. There is more then expected. Lots more.
Meanwhile in the Gobi Desert. A group of people carring flamethrowers on their back suddenly charge toward the field of corn. Caught off guard the military presence there is quickly overwhelmed and sent fleeing. It is clear these people mean to burn down the corn.
When notified of the impending attack on him and his sister, Alex just nods. "It is to be expected. We will be ready. I want everybody but a few to evacuate. No matter what happens here, I don't want this to be the end of the Rebels. Together me and my sister are strong enough to meet any challenge. Let them come. They will feel the full might of Gemini."
The sky darkens and the ground quakes. Machines of all kinds charge the Rebel warehouse. Helicoptors, jets, tanks, mechanical spiders, mechs. There is something...off about them, but there is no time to figure out what.

Purrfect is the first to see the men approaching. She takes an irritated look. 'Just great, what do we do?'
Mindreaver looks around for a few moments. 'I'll try to create an illusion, hopefully it will halt their advance. In the meantime try to make yourself useful, I don't know your strengths.'
The feline grins. 'I'm on it, I'll try to save your hide if you fail!'
He did not listen, his mind was focused on exerting his will on the advancing party. The environment around him began to fade away and time seemed to slow down as their figures became clearer, their feel more acute.
An blueish glowing forcefield slowly rose up from the sand as a barrier between him and then. A vague recollection of some birds flying around earlier found itself in his mind and he created an image of them flying straight to the energy wall. They bumped on it and instantly got electrocuted, their smoking bodies falling on the hot sand. The illusionist's mind was already getting weary from concentrating on that many people but now he could ease his grip a little, all he needed was to keep the illusion going.
As if waking from a dream he suddenly felt the hot air around him, the blinding brightness of the sun and the scuttling of the retreating soldiers behind him((those that were guarding the garden)). He could not turn back to see where his companion was, he had to keep focusing.
'Hope the bird illusion was convincing enough to keep them from passing through the wall. At best they will fall back and try to go around which should give us some time to think of something or at least the opportunity to flee. Purrfect had better called the base for reinforcements..'

Shagrath went alone, it was always fastest that way. He flew high and fast against the desert, and would be there within a half hour. He dove to get up some more speed, and then straightened up again. He closed his eyes, flying were wonderful. He owned Bear a thanks, but they had went away so quick he didn't have time. He were immune to fire, or else he wouldn't be able to summon and control it, but the explosion had still injured him serious. He had after all went through two massive metal-walls. A half hour later he saw the desert, and the corn. He dive closer, and see some men fighting down military troops using flamethrowers, then they charged for the corn. There seemed to be two persons there, then suddenly a force field seemed to rise from the ground.
"There the mutants already here are." Shagrath whispered to himself.
He flew down, and saw a bird fly into the force field and get fried. The men seemed to slow down, and stop in front of the wall. Then one of them said something, and they gathered in a line in front of the wall. Shagrath landed without a sound, and went closer to the men. Suddenly he understood what they were about to do, and closed his eyes. They should test the wall with their flamethrowers, if it didn't stop the fire they would surely cross. He would have to act, after all he could control the fire. He focused on the wall, and forbid the fire to pass it with his thoughts. Then the men fired at the wall, and it were stopped. It went to all sides, and the men shrieked in desperation as some of it went back on them. They turned and walked in a line to find out where the wall ended. Shagrath went forward and threw a stone through the wall. It went through, the wall were an illusion. He walked through it, and saw a man on the other side. He smiled, mutants, he could sense it. He sat down and waited, if he interrupted the man the illusion could fail. So he waited...

Gobi Desert :
One of the individuals stopped, then they all did. A greenish light emitted from their eyes, and they looked back at the wall. As one, they walked through it. Mindreaver feels a backlash like effect, and something is deffinately wrong. Once again they start heading for the corn, ignoring anything else. Single minded of purpose they begin to set fire to the corn. The ground shakes as if in pain. Spreading fast, the fire must be contained. Who knows why or how these people were able to see through the illusion, but it appears as if they are getting instructions from somewhere.

At the Rebels' warehouse
The Rebels were fleeing according to Alex's orders. Shyft was busy moving out the injured and slow-moving. He might come back when he is finished. Bear took his sister in his arms, already concious but still weak, and moved out. He promised to return and help as soon as his sister is safe. The two Gemini and Problem Child were standing in a line in front of the robot army.
"I hate reverting to violence, but I guess you can't reason with a machine", Problem Child said quitely. "By the way, Alex, you said you can absorb other mutants powers. Please don't try it on me, for years I've learnt how to control them and I still fail to do so from time to time. These powers are mine to bear and mine alone."
The robot army was advancing fast. Problem Child took out his microphone and it's top was engulfed by a deep purple fire again. Then he started to sing:
Oh, dance in the dark of night, Sing to the morning light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight, And time will tell us all.
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe, Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might of the darkest of them all.
I hear the horses' thunder down in the valley blow,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow.
And as his voices echoed in the distance, The Gemini felt the power surge through their bodies and all those who hurried to help them and heard that echo moved twice as fast as before, as if the angels themselves descended to Earth in order to carry them to battle that would soon begin.

I came with Stargazer and some other rebels to stop the force advancing towards the capitol only to find us outnumbered and outgunned. I dived for cover and saw the others follow. There were a lot more of them than anticipated. I saw one rebel fall, an average Joe kinda guy, now just a tragedy but it seemed like he was going to become statistic soon enough when another one fell. With this rate we would all end up dead before the battle had even begun.
"We can't fight them from afar without causing extreme damage or killing them! Even then we will be slaughtered! We have to close the distance somehow! In close combat their guns won't be so useful and most of the mutants powers are only useful within close quarters anyways!",I tried to shout to Stargazer over the noise.
"Agreed! Any ideas?!", she shouted back.
"Some! But you have to brace yourself! Even if we get close they still outnumber us 17 to 1!". That seemed to get her thinking. Too bad there wasn't time for it.
"We can always pull back and signal for reinforcements from M.E.G.A. or CoED!", I continued. They would make this a war. This was something she wouldn't allow and I knew it.
"No! They would turn this into a massacre! What did you have in mind?"
"They seem quite determined to get to the capitol as fast as possible! If we could trick them into thinking we are retreating farther they would most likely rush ahead and give us a chance of ambushing them from these positions! They don't know our exact numbers! We can sent most of us to a disorganized retreat and keep few of us here! The few left behind will then try to create a distraction big enough fo the others to regroup and join them! If it fails only those who stayed behind will be lost."
"I quess that's the best we've got! How many do you need?"

Mindreaver's ongoing focus to sustain his illusionary wall was put to the test when he saw the flamethrowers backfire, it was totally unexpected. On the edge of his vision he saw a vaguely familiar demon form approach then sit waiting for things to play out. He was sure he had seen him before but could not quite place it - he was also positive that he was not a threat or he would have taken advantage of the situation.
And then things took a more unexpected turn. His willpower 'bumped' on an inpenetrable barrier and he felt some kind of psychic shock. Dazed as he was the soldiers paid him no heed and proceeded for the cornfields. Seconds later a wildfire starts spreading and the ground sends off violent vibrations.
Suddenly Mindreaver feels as if splashed with cold water, he must do something and fast. He begins to concentrate on the earth around him hoping to create a sandstorm, that should disorient the soldiers and keep the fire in check.
Meanwhile Purrfect cannot engage the enemy with sand flying everywhere and instead starts sniping from a safe spot.

Rebel Warehouse
One of the Gemini's hangs back, the other engages the machines head on. The machines open fire, more then a few with neutralizing technology, but it seems not to do anything to that particular Gemini.
The Gemini that stays behind is just chuckling. "Our suits include a device that prevents us from being neutralized. They are wasting their time. Weird thing is, she is not taking any damage. Usually I just absorb damage and pass it on to one of our fast healers. Works very well. I havn't had too yet...odd."
As the Gemini engaging the enemies connects with one, they go through the machine. As if it was not there. "What the..." is heard over the com. "Um, we have a problem, no resistance at all. Could it be illusion or hologram. I know at least a few are real, I can feel their little stings, but why...."
About that time the Gemini behind says "Ah hell. It's a decoy, I repeat, they are decoys! Rose...they must be after Rose. All units find and protect her at all costs. I have no idea why they want her, but if they want to get to her by all the hells they are going through US!"
"Bear can hold them off for awhile, he is no pushover. I think you are correct however. For some reason they believe her to be a threat. I just hope nothing happens. I don't want Thorn running about." comes the reply from the airborn Gemini.
All involved race to find and protect Rose. All the while the Gemini next to Problem Child keeps saying. "Stupid, stupid, stupid. I should have known better then to send a bunch of minor machines after us two. I'm an idiot."
Gobi Desert The sandstorm is very effective at keeping the fire contained. Though the individuals are not even slowed down, the sand clogs the flamethrowers, and douses the fire faster then they can start it. It is getting rather hard to see, however. Purrrfect has managed to tranq a good number of them, and it seems to be effective. They are out cold. She decides to wrap some cloth around her face and engage them hand to hand. Like a blur she covers the distance. It will take her awhile, but it is obvious they are outclassed unless they have a mutant.
Of course, more then likely one or two mutants are in the group.
5 miles south of Mega Capital. while waiting for instructions Stargazer tries to get a vision of how things will turn out. "Dang, getting nothing. We have to hurry. Only five miles left. If they get too close Mega and Coed will get involved. I don't want that. More of them are arriving, if we are going to do this, we need to do this now!"

Seeing Purrfect closing the distance the illusionist feels relieved. All he has to do is keep the sandstorm going for a little longer and it will be a piece of cake for the agile feline. Meanwhile the group of the soldiers that had retreated the scene are returning back to the location to help with the remaining enemies and the demon does not seem to sit idle too.
'A great asset to have him around with his fire affinity' the Mindreaver mused.
'Let's see what happens.'

When the armed men finally decided to go through the illusion, Shagrath rose. He smiled faintly, twenty on one. But they had flamethrowers, no use. He opened his hands and fire appeared in them.
"Lets go." he murmured for himself, and sprang at them.
They launched their fire all at once, and Shagrath flew backward. Powerful indeed, but at least it couldn't damage him. He rose as they walked forward, and they seemed to hesitate. He spread his wings, dropped down so he walked on all four, and launched at them. He threw himself into their midst, and fire erupted everywhere. He went for the flamethrowers, trying to explode them so he could kill the men easy. But these flamethrowers didn't seem to blow up, and he had to burn through their special anti-fire clothes.
"Anti-fire." he frowned, and burned another man.
One of the men suddenly stabbed him in the back with a dagger, and Shagrath fell to the ground. He lifted up again, and pulled out the dagger.
"Ok, now you've invited yourself to you own funeral!" he roared, and slashed the head off the man.
Then soldiers came, and attacked the flame-mad psychos. This is way too easy. Shagrath thought.

Problem Child and one of the Gemini ran in the direction Bear and Rose went before the fake battle started. Gemini couldn't forgive himself for his mistake, and Problem Child didn't feel any better as well. He was there when Rose was first attacked, he might have known that they (whoever they are) won't leave her like that.
Soon the mutants heard the sounds of battle. They saw a huge number of machines surrounding Rose and Bear. Rose was still weak, fortunately she could use her powers from a crouching stance to conserve her energy. Bear was severly injured, but he fought with such ferosity, defending his little sister, that even the emotionless robots seemed to fear him and didn't dare to attack. Some more Rebels were trying to reach the two and help them, but they couldn't break through the ring of metallic beasts around the mutant siblings.
As soon as the Gemini arrived they attacked the robots using the same tactics as before - one of them began to cut through the machines' defense like knife through butter, while the other stayed at the back in supportive role. Problem Child was confused for a few seconds, he never participated in such great fights, and he most definatly never had to fight robots in his time. Just then one of the robots shot a few missiles at a Rebels' group that was starting to make progress into the circle. The missiles exploded. Those who were at the back were thrown away by the blast, hitting walls on their way. The rest died before they even knew what happened. At this point something in Problem Child snapped, he knew he needs to switch gears, his eyes filled with rage... Paranoid was taking over.
The purple flames on his mic became darker than ever as he began to sing:
Something's calling
In the night
Electric madness
Roars in sight
Heat is rising
Blazing fast
Hot and evil
Feel the blast
Some of the robots halted, trying to cool their systems, heated by the unexplainable power. As the last words emitted from the mutant's lips the robots that were closest to him exploded in a blast. Metallic debris flew in all directions, nearly hitting one of the Geminis. Paranoid didn't care, he just wanted to destroy these metallic abominations that got him mad.

The machines' temperature raised to enormous levels, sparks were flying as their systems burned from inside. However, this only happened to the robots closest to Paranoid, the rest were heated, but still able to fight. The fighting Gemini was almost at the center of the circle, when suddenly one of the robots hit Bear with a powerful ray of energy. Bear was thrown back, falling right in front of a mace wielding robot. The robot's weapon fell down on Bear's spine. Even that mighty blow could not render the native american warrior unconcious, but he couldn't move either. He just watched in agony as his sister was hit by a blast of energy. Rose gave her brother one last loving look and fell on the ground unconcious...

Gobi Desert : Part I
The conflict is over very quickly. Shagrath and Purrrfect are just too much for the flamethrower weilders. Purrrfect manages to keep Shagrath from killing all of them, she wants answers and getting answers from corpses is beyond her current abilities. Calling Shagrath and Mindreaver over she turns to one of the captive men. "Here is the thing. I want to know what is going on, and I want to know now. You have about twenty seconds. If you don't tell me I turn you over first to him." she points to Mindreaver. "If he can't get an answer...then it will be his turn." points to Shagrath. "At that time I will no longer be interested in your answers and will move to the next. Shagrath does not play nice as you've seen."
Blank eerie glowing green eyes just stare at her. "Fine. Mindreaver, can you get anything?"
Unfortunately whatever was interfearing with his mental abilities before is in place..but he does recieve a very disturbing image. Ironclad..only there is two Ironclads. Before Shagrath gets a turn the ground starts shaking.
Rebel base With a burst of strength bear is able to push himself from under the pile. He runs toward his sister, crushing everything that gets in his way, his eyes have changed and he appears savage. Then he just stops...and stares. His sister is getting up. Both Gemini's screech to a halt, and the machines as if sensing something start backpeddling. It is far too late however. Rose looks completely different. Long green hair that swirls around her body, Violet colored eyes, and even her outfit has changed to a few leafs in strategic places. A huge tattoo covers both of her arms, it looks like a long briar with thorns sticking out.
With a single wave, huge roots burst from the ground and rip the machines apart as if they were made of tissue paper. The roots are joined by vines and both keep growing. The earth itself seems to be trembling and shaking. One of the Gemini's starts focusing on her but a very .. seductive but evil voice can be heard. "Don't even try it little man. I am the vengence of the earth given form. Even you can not drain all my power."
The other Gemini laughs. "True, but he doesn't have to. All we have to do is knock you out again. Then Rose will be back. Strange thing though is. How did they know about Rose. How did they know we'd send everybody away to fight them. There is only one person who knows us that well."
Suddenly it downs on both of the Geminis. "Ironclad! Can he really be behind all of this?!"
Unfortunately it is looking like Gemini is loosing the fight. He keeps draining, but it is obvious he is reaching his limit. "Thorn has never been this strong before" he pants.
It is only a matter of time before the growing vines and roots reach our heroes...
Gobi Desert : Part II
Something feels..vile about this quake. Everything feels ... wrong. From under the ground a sphere explodes to the surface. It looks like a combination between a meteor rock and something organic. Red veins are pulsing around it. Yet it seems as if it is in pain, and as if it is trying to shake off whatever is happening. The plants around start shuddering, and the same sickly red vines appear on them..suddenly they lash out at the heroes. One grabs Purrrfect and starts to draw her into the mass of plants.
About that time something is heard over the comms. "Mindreaver, Purrrfect, Shagrath this is Nightshade from CoED. Our sources indicated that something is wrong with the earth..it is suspected that Rose has gone out cold and that means that Thorn has taken over. Stargazer sent word that the plants are trying to aid in some way against whatever is causing all this havoc. Do not destroy the plants..I repeat do not destroy the plants." The signal breaks up.
