Northern France is in Northern Europe

I thougt the story of Ashan is very intersting and good. It will be interesting how they will develop the story.
TotE had a great story and campaign.
And there is 0 chance that we will go back to old universe (but if you think about... maybe they are in the same universe, Ashan is just another planet).

Who care where france is, let see, france is in china, cos i said it. (wel, they both eat frog legs... emmmm... frog leg... ahhh..)

I have no idea with the story line of any heroes game, although I started playing heroes serie when I was 10. (32167 , black dragon code.. that only way to win game that time), the story took too long.

So what happened in the old universe? and whats the story of Ashan, short and brief.

(em.. little off topic here, who care, this is internet)

Well firstly, the old universe and the new universe are certainly not the same and won't be merging, thus Ashan won't be a planet in the old one.  Too many problems there with continuity and these Elemental Dragon things which contradict the fundamentals of the old universe.

Secondly, if Ubi actually do try to bring back the old universe, Nival will just spoil it with crappy storytelling, so we're agreed against this at least.

Thirdly, I bet you're not aware that Nival actually wanted to use the old universe in the first place, with Ashan as Axeoth in "the future".  Hence we have Lost Palaedra on the beta map (Palaedra was in Heroes IV).  But Ubisoft mysteriously took charge and ordered Nival to disregard the old stories and come up with a whole new world full of this... unsavoury stuff we're playing now.

You will note that mightandmagic.com contains a developer diary with excuses as to why they threw the old universe in the bin, apparently because there was no full storyline bible to Axeoth and Colony or something (if only The Spinward Tales had been around then)...

There may be "0 chance" we'll be revisiting the old universe.  There's also "0 chance" that Ashan will ever be a match for it

I just said that i liked Ashan and that there is no chance that we will leave it. I like its story, like the creation myth, like the dragon gods.
But the storyline sucked before ToTe.
Okey it didnt, but it was completly ripped from Warcraft III.

And who would be Thrall ???
Gotai maybe...

At least: Jaina Proudmoore = Isabel

Anyway as in Warcraft III, guns could be acceptable in Heroes. Only if their are musketlike things and NOT laserguns or revolvers!!! That is an insult to the Heroes idea.

Well I already knew that  But do not be so sure that the old universe is dead and forgotten, I assure you it's not...

Don't worry.  It did suck...  Though I don't remember any weddings at the start of Warcraft III?  Or Succubi?  And weren't there Orcs there?

I'd like to see guns like those from warcraft 3. Simple guns were even before crossbows.

No they weren't, but they were around in the early 14th century.

So I say: guns in China were before crossbows in Europe.
OT: If about china, what about oriental fraction in Homm 6 with ninjas, dragons etc.

The Greeks had a crossbow weapon called the gastraphetes in the first century AD, and believed to have been invented centuries before, therein, predating the gun by about a millenium (at least).
The problem with creating a far-east styled faction is the lack of unique creatures, so you tend to end up with a Haven style town, a lot of humans and a few creatures.

I vote yes

As you can from my creature suggestions, I have two gun-using units (Gunslinger and Arbalest), not counting my Sanctuary faction suggestion which has another one (the Dhampir). I don't think guns disturb the balance- what's the difference between a bullet/cannonball and a fireball/lightning bolt? Remember this is FANTASY- so what if the Castle (for example) has guns, the other towns got magic and fantastical creatures to counter their slightly more advanced technology... Also, if you saw the movie "the Last Samurai", medieval weaponry CAN prevail against non-automatic guns.

So I say- machineguns, sniper rifles, grenades and rockets a strict No- more primitive, Rennesiance-era firearms- Yes. Remember this isn't the real world, where a single gunshot brings down a guy (but a good sword blow or well-aimed arrow are just as likely to take him out)- this is fantasy!

Lol, I like that both sides use this sentence, each for their own cause.

True, it's fantasy and guns probably would not be overpowered, but on the other hand - it's fantasy where all the factions (except Orcs) know how to use magic and therefore any advancement of gunpowder is redundant since a good wizard can do all that and so much more.

far east mythological creatures.

oni-japanese demon
thousand tailed fox
pheonix (un unique)
qiln
izanagi and izanami
kappa

etc: i even created an entire faction (a bad one though) about them incorporating a yin/yang concept as a racial.

Quite funny that the crucial argument for guns in HoM&M VI is Warcraft. Does anybody remember Disciples II where we had flamethrower?
But, it was by the way.
I'm into the idea of technics for two reasons:
1. Bring some fresh air into the series.
2. I'm a great M&M series fan and some time ago I had realised that the universe HoM&M is... less complete (?) than this one of M&M. The second one had it own myths, history (not storyline but history) etc. etc., while the still vast plot of HoMM is rather orthodox fantasy. Even we aren't informed that Kreegans are simply aliens. So: the plot. Well supported idea of a faction using technology would be very appreciated from my side.

All in all, I'd like to ask you all about one thing: some of you may agree with the thesis that somwhere there in space may be another intelligent race. Most of us do like the sci-fi films where human meets other races. Why don't we allow fantasy world's inhabitants to meet them too? Because what? Because it would simply de-so-la-te the traditional world?
Bwah, I think that in this way we only will be able to receive the next generations of Heroes III clones. Ok, Heroes V. Do we reallly want to? :/
