Mina nodded to herself. She was also anxious to start her investigations—keenly aware her turn in the tournament was approaching—but she wanted to check something here first before she took off to her allotted sector of town.
She walked up to the front desk.
“Nurse Joy, did anyone mention any specific trouble with Bandra grunts a few months back?”

Draloed:
Magnemite uses Charge Beam! ((36 = HIT darn... ))
Yanma is hit for 38 damage!
It's super effective!
The foe's Yanma faints!
Magnemite's Sp.Atk increases by one level!
The Youngster is dumbstruck at the sheer power of this attack. The crowd grows respectfully silent until the Youngster sends out his Mankey once again, and then starts roaring and cheering: "Draloed! Draloed!"
Even the one overly-cocky Trainer in the crowd ((the one who's been bashing the Youngster)) is looking at you with a respectful grin.

Stacey:
You head off to the southern part of the village, near the Day-Care Center. You see several Breeders and ask about any recent local happenings. One of them turns to you and says:
"Well, I'm from far to the west, but rumor has it that the Elder of Hillsbreak Town has been acting strangely as of late. They say he's locked himself inside of the town's Gym and won't come out."
Another Breeder interjects:
"Some others say that he's not in the town at all. After all, what self-respecting Elder locks himself inside of a Gym to do who know's what?"
The first Breeder looks at him and grins:
"Maybe he's not self-respecting..."
The Breeders laugh as you look around some more in the southern area.
As you make to return to the Pokémon Center, you notice a shady figure off in the distance. The figure notices you as well and scurries off, leaving you none the wiser.

Mina:
Nurse Joy responds:
"Well, a large group of Team Bandra grunts passed by here a few months ago. They were all dressed in ebony colored vests. As far as I've heard, they're occupying Hillsbreak Town now. They have a Power Plant there powering their bases in this part of the region."
She then lets out a sigh and continues:
"And now, no one knows where that town's Elder is. Perhaps they killed him for opposing them."
She shudders and is interrupted by a familiar face.
You look to your right and see Dove, connected to an IV drip and leaning against the wall.
The nurse chastises her for getting out of her bed as Dove says, slowly:
"Killed? I don't think so. It's not in their best interests to kill an Elder. That'll just set off the other Elders to mount an attack."
The nurse asks:
"Why don't they just attack Central HQ?"
Dove replies:
"Two reasons. One, almost no one outside of the Team knows where it is. Two, you'd probably find the Boss himself over there, and I'm sure not even Dream would appreciate that battle."
The nurse pales as she remembers something.
She then takes Dove back to her room. Dove waves to you as she disappears out of sight.

Magnemite uses Flash!
Mankey's accuracy drops by one level!
As the Magnemite makes to use Flash, the audience covers its eyes. The cocky trainer in the audience puts on some shades.
The attack causes the arena to turn white for a split second. At the end of the attack, everyone is unharmed, with the visible exception of the Mankey who's squinting uncomfortably.
The Youngster looks at the Mankey and says:
"Let him have it with Seismic Toss!"
Mankey uses Seismic Toss! ((76 = HIT!))
Magnemite takes 15 points of damage!
Magnemite uses its held Leftovers to heal 3 HP!
Mankey suffers from the effects of poison!
Mankey loses 3 HP!
Magnemite's Condition:
HP: 28/40
Condition: Healthy
Mankey's Condition:
HP: 30/41
Condition: Badly Poisoned ((yup, even the level of poisoning is retained on switching; no switching to weaken the Toxic down to normal grade poison  ))

Mina waved back to Dove, mouthing, ‘we’ll talk later’ behind the nurse’s back as the older girl disappeared back into the depths of the Pokemon Center.
Hillsbreak Town, eh? I guess that’ll be our next destination after we finish with the Tournament. ((Drat, and I wanted to go poke around in that forest once we were done here… ))
“Well I guess I’ll see the rest of you guys later. Good luck in the mean time.” With a parting wave for the rest of the group, Mina set off out of the Pokemon Center and across town. She cut through the festival and headed for the vicinity of the Village Hall, figuring it a good place to start her investigations—if anywhere had information pertaining to Team Bandra or missing people, she reasoned, it would be there, in the seat of government.

Mina:
You move towards the Village Hall. As you cut through the Festival grounds, you notice several shady figures mixed amongst the many visitors (the majority of the visitors being Breeders). They shoot looks at you, but otherwise do nothing.
You reach the Village Hall.
Once inside, you notice several more Breeders and another one that stands out ((the expert Misty talked to)). You make your way over to them as they look at you approach.
The expert Breeder asks:
"Hi! Are you here to learn about breeding as well?"
((I'm out for now. I might be back later. If I'm not, I'll see you all tomorrow! Take care guys! *waves*))

Mina’s skin crawled. It felt like dozens of eyes were glued to her back, watching her every move; it was making her very nervous. She darted inside the Village Hall, wanting to get some walls between her and the observers making her spine chill.
The inside of the Hall had been converted to a Breeders’ haven, and Mina reckoned that this must have been where Misty visited earlier.
(Another part of her remembered what Misty had said about the tournament Champion being a cheater and wondered why she’d been so adamant about it. Having been in the hospital until late this morning, Mina had been absent from Stacy’s revelation and didn’t realize it was more than a wild conclusion on Misty’s part. But she determined it was unimportant for now.)
Mina wandered around the hall for a little while, wondering who to question first. One man seemed to stand out from the others, however, so Mina approached him.
"Hi! Are you here to learn about breeding as well?"
He seemed nice enough. Mina hesitated, still feeling edgy.
“Breeding? Well, I wouldn’t mind some tips for raising my Pichu—she’s not with me right now though—”
Just come out and ask him, Mina, she scolded herself internally. You won’t learn anything by dancing around the subject.
“—I was actually wondering if you knew anything about Elder Roden.”

Mina:
The young man looks at you and blinks in an exaggerated manner. Upon noticing your reaction, he repeats his action. It would seem he's trying to tell you something, but there's too many people in the vicinity.
He then says:
"Well, I don't know anything about Elder Roden *blinks fiercely*, but if you want to talk about breeding*blink* , then we can meet in front of the Day Care Center in 10 minutes."
He asks:
"I'll be waiting. *wink*"
The expert Breeder couldn't have been more obvious, but it gets the point across. It would seem that he does know about Elder Roden, but there were too many people around him for him to talk clearly.

She left the Village Hall at a sedate pace and casually made her way around town, looking for the Daycare while trying not to draw undo attention. ((Too late for that! ))

Meanwhile, the other girl skipped off towards the north end of town in a relatively inconspicuous manner, occasionally stopping to fawn over her Pokemon, pretending they were her favourite pets instead of competent fighters. All the while she kept her eyes out and about, watching the people around her carefully.

The finale of the battle occurs rather quickly. The Mankey manages to connect with a speedy Seismic Toss, leaving the Magnemite at 1 HP. Before you can act again, the Toxic faints the Mankey.
The crowd cheers upon seeing the finale! The one trainer in the audience nods approvingly as he walks away. The Youngster drops to his knees in defeat.
You have gained 500 PD!

((Also, items used recycle during Tournaments, so the berries his Pokémon have used are still in their possession.))

Mina:
As you make your way to the Day Care Center, you take a look back and notice that the expert Breeder is following closely behind. The many shady pairs of eyes are still tracking you, but are showing a greater interest in the young man behind you.
You both reach the Day Care Center. The Breeder quickly takes out an Upgrade Machine and says:
"Here, lend me your Pokédex."
You take out your Pokédex as he connects the machine using a cable ((not wireless this time )).

Breeding Tutorial Download Complete!
As you notice the second download, he smiles and says:
"A little extra gift from me to the lass that visited me earlier ((Misty)). I think she's also part of your group. Of course, you and any others of your group can use that as well."
He then looks around to make sure there's no eavesdroppers and starts talking about the subject at hand:
"You want to know what happened to Elder Roden? Well, Team Bandra walked into Hillsbreak Town a few months ago wanting to build a Power Plant to power the bases in the immediate area. They have three bases, one in Slashpeak Cave, one in Dewdrop Forest and a third one. I have no clue where that other base is, but perhaps you can trace its location from the Power Plant."
As he makes to continue, he is interrupted by a mysterious voice:
"Well, well, if it isn't Spencer."
The mysterious man comes forth. He is wearing the usual Grunt regalia of Team Bandra, with the difference that he's wearing a vest instead of a shirt.
"Klandon..." spits out Spencer, "...Father would kill himself if he knew."
Klandon: "Bah! I was the one who pushed him into the convergence!"
Spencer: "You son of a [censored]!"
Klandon: "And for that, I got promoted to the Rank of Taskmaster. Who needs to be a Gym Leader when you can be a Taskmaster of Team Bandra? I'm just picking the winning side."
Spencer: "I'll make you pay!!!"
Klandon: "Bring it on...brother!!!"
Spencer: "*looking at you* Get out of here! I'll hold him off for as long as I can!"
Klandon: "Foolish. You were always sickeningly kind..."
You look behind yourself and notice two Grunts staring you down. Running, it would seem, is not an option.
Battle Start:
Klandon challenges Spencer to a Pokémon Battle!
Klandon sends out Desparat!
You suddenly see the Poké Ball open. The strange, new Pokémon looks like a porcupine with demon wings. It stands about 3 feet tall and is crimson red. ((Sandshrew-like arms and claws and legs. It has a reptilian-like head though.))
Spencer sends out Angerazm!
Spencer's Poké Ball opens up to a similarly new sight. This Pokémon stands about 2 feet tall and looks like a shrub. It has two branches with white leaves for arms and four legs that are its roots as well as its means of locomotion. Its head is bare, except for a halo on top of it. Its body (("skin", if you will.)) is sky blue.
((Woot! Helnith-only Pokémon! Will make the Pokedex entries ASAP! For now, you'll have to wait until tomorrow! ))

You make your way to the northern end of town. You notice the same bunch of shady figures that Mina has noticed before, and also notice that the majority of them are heading due south ((to where Mina and Spencer are, but you don't know this In Character yet )).

”Mmm?” Mina peered interestedly at the Pokedex Screen. “What’s that?”
"A little extra gift from me to the lass that visited me earlier. I think she's also part of your group.” Mina nodded, smiling. “Of course, you and any others of your group can use that as well."
“Thanks,” she responded, admittedly somewhat distractedly but pleased nonetheless.
Mina listened intently as the Breeder spoke of the Bandra bases; perhaps a bit too intently, as she didn’t notice the Bandra Taskmaster until he spoke.
"Well, well, if it isn't Spencer."
The two trainers—the two brothers!—spat verbal barbs back and forth for a bit while Mina watched on, wondering if she should get involved.
Then the two prepared to battle and Spencer addressed Mina.
"Get out of here! I'll hold him off for as long as I can!"
Mina nodded, trusting that the Breeder knew how to take care of himself, and turned to run as he’d asked—only to find a pair of Bandra grunts most inconsiderately blocking her.
“Oh great, more goons…” Mina muttered aloud.
She grabbed a Pokeball off her belt, looked down just long enough to see that it was the one with the long scratch across the top, and threw.
“Come out and use Sandstorm!”
Raging winds began to pick up and dust began to fly, obscuring vision with blinding sand. Mina dashed over to Spencer while the building storm was still in its infancy, grabbing his hand and shouting to him over the rising winds:
“Spencer, let’s get out of here before the Sandstorm dies down! We can use it for cover!”

Meanwhile Misty has been searching the whole west side for signs of the Elder. She hasn't a clue what she is searching FOR, but she still can't help but think it has something to do with the tournament or pokecenter. Or both. Once done there she will check in at the poke center, asking if anybody has seen Mina, then back to the tournament.
Meanwhile she will text Mina. "Once west side is checked proceeding to Poke Center. Anything turn up yet?" ((This is if we do have a text feature..still not clear about that hehe)).

Mina (Bandra battle):
As the Sandstorm whips up, you take Spencer's hand and try to lead him away. However, he breaks out of the grip, and is about to say that he won't run, when Klandon turns this into a moot point:
"Desparat, Bleak Void now!"
((New weather move! Double Woot!! ))
The Sandstorm subsides as the Desparat conjures up a mysterious storm of pure Darkness. Your Pokédex fills you in on the implications:
Bleak Void
Weather Move
Effects:
The power of Dark-Type and Ghost-type moves increases by 50%
The power of Psychic-Type, Fighting-Type and Normal-Type moves decreases by 50%
All types except Dark and Ghost lose 1/16 HP each round ((Sandstorm for Dark-Types ))
Lasts for 5 turns
Klandon grins at you and says:
"What was that about running?"
Spencer gives Klandon a blank stare and mutters, nearly incomprehensibly:
"Angerazm...Sunny Day."
The void of darkness subsides to make way to harsh, cloudless sunlight.
Klandon then mutters out:
"Bah. Lame."
Spencer grins as he tells his brother:
"Why don't you let her go? She has nothing to do with this."
Klandon glares at Spencer and replies:
"Nothing, you say? Nothing to DO WITH THIS?! Her group destroyed the Slashpeak Cave base! The one I was overseeing, until Officer Altros decided to take over."
Spencer looks you and grins happily, saying:
"Good job."
Klandon looks at the two of you venomously as the two grunts start advancing towards your position.
Female Grunt sends out Geodude!
Male Grunt sends out Wiliter!
The (male) Grunt's Pokémon is one you've never seen before. It is a small, red caterpillar like Pokémon. It has several pores on its back that release small amounts of fire and smoke at regular intervals. Its two frontal legs are a little bigger than the many other legs it has.

Draloed:
The announcer nods as a man comes over with a portable Pokémon Center and heals up your rental Pokémon. Afterwards, the other three battles in the sequence take place:

Bug Catcher D 13

Fisherman B 15
Ranger C 16
These battles are marginally more interesting than the ones before them. Both Lasses dominate with their Jigglypuffs, one with Sing, and the other with Doubleslap. The Ranger uses his Poochyena's Howl to great effect for his win.
New Hints:

Lass - Jigglypuff - Doubleslap
Ranger C - Poochyena - Howl
About two hours pass in these battles ((about 2 PM now)).
Afterwards, the announcer announces the next four battles:

In your search you find a Chahal Berry!

Besides somehow managing to find a Berry in the middle of such an arid place, you find nothing else worthy of note. You make your way to the Pokémon Center to ask about Mina. You receive the reply:
"Well, she asked about the troubles in the area and then took off to the south."
You thank her and move to the south as well.
As you reach the battle area, your 'Dex starts beeping. You take it out and notice the new data downloading to your 'Dex.
Afterwards, you decide to use your newly-gained feature to text Mina.

The girl started to follow the strange, shifty-eyed stalkers, thinking they were clearly up to no good. Her Buizel did laps around her like an excited little bumblebee, still making sure to act the part of a nonthreatening pet, and her Zigzagoon continually wandered off, picking through the grass for interesting things as it always did. The Sandshrew eyed the people they were following warily.

((Fighting Team Bandra outside the Day Care…))
"Bah. Lame."
“We’re going to be swapping weather conditions all day aren’t we?” Mina asked rhetorically.
"Why don't you let her go? She has nothing to do with this."
Ooo…wrong thing to say, Mina reflected, thinking back to the fried computers and general chaos she and her friends had left of the Slashpeak Base.
"Nothing, you say? Nothing to DO WITH THIS?! Her group destroyed the Slashpeak Cave base! The one I was overseeing, until Officer Altros decided to take over."
“He’s right about that, at least,” Mina agreed conversationally.
Spencer grinned back at her at this.
"Good job."
“Thanks!” Mina said to Spencer, flashing a grin to aggravate his brother.
The sound of Pokeballs opening brought Mina’s attention back to the Grunts. Oh that’s right, I have to deal with you, she thought irritably.
She sized up their Pokemon briefly before addressing her rental (the latter of whom was eyeing her impatiently).
“All right then, use Rock Tomb on that little fire bug!”
She was considering who else to send out to even the odds when an odd thing happened. Her Pokedex started to vibrate, the sensation melding into a beep noise.
Breeeee…Breeeee…
“You have got to be kidding me…” Mina growled, thinking something unkind about telemarketers before she saw the screen of her Pokedex. Her eyes widened, surprised.
Misty sent you a message!
Once west side is checked proceeding to Poke Center. Anything turn up yet?
~Battling Bandra @ Day Care. Talk Later.~ Mina typed back one handed while the other snatched the paint-chipped Pokeball off her belt. She hit ‘Send’ just as she threw it out.
“Use Water Gun on Geodude!”
((In the Tournament…))
"Good luck!"
“You too,” Mina replied, returning the bow as her opponent sent out a Skitty.
“A Skitty huh? Cute,” Mina said conversationally. She wasn’t very familiar with the species, but thought she remembered it was a Normal type. She gripped the Pokeball with the long scratch over the top and threw it.
“Come on out!”
Mina found herself bathed in sudden shadow as her rental made his second appearance, towering over her.
“Use Sandstorm!” And maybe we’ll have better results this time…
