*Beep* Battling Bandra @ Day Care. Talk Later Misty looked at the ominous words on the screen for a second, a bit stunned. Then she snapped out of it and the next moment her feet were moving as fast as they could.
At first she couldn't remember where the daycare was, and she started to panic. Normally that would be when Stripes would come in and calm her, but Stripes wasn't with her. It took her running into a random person before she snapped out of it. "Oh! I am so sorry. My friend needs me." she mumbled before she got her baring and went off toward the daycare.

Korejora:
You follow the mysterious men as they head south. There are four men in all. As you draw closer, you notice that they have the usual Team Bandra Grunt uniforms. You keep a fair distance away and tail them to the south part of the village, seeing Mina already engaged with the two other Grunts. The sun seems to be beaming harshly in the immediate area.
The four Grunts stand behind the first two. You notice Misty closing in behind you, so you wait for her.

Misty:
You run as fast as you can to the south and see Korejora looking at you. Together, the two of you flank the four standby Grunts. Two of them step forward as the other two watch both battles silently.
Battle Start:
Team Bandra Grunt & Team Bandra Grunt challenge you to a battle!
TBG & TBG send out Wiliter and Pupawisp!
You see the new Pokémon sent out. ((I have already described the Wiliter species...so scroll back one or two pages please  ))
The Pupawisp looks like a normal bug cocoon, with the exception that its a shade of light red and it has two holes in the back that release heat as well as two eyes in front ((otherwise, how could it see?  ))

Mina (Bandra):
Onix uses Rock Tomb on Wiliter!
Wiliter takes 92 points of damage!! ((for the love of GOD!!!  ))
It's super effective!
Wiliter faints!
Poliwag uses Water Gun on Geodude!
Geodude takes 42 points of damage!! ((LOL! Sunny Day for half!!!))
It's super effective!
Geodude faints!
The Bandra Grunts look disgruntled and shocked as one sends out Pupawisp and the other one ((who had sent out the Geodude)) sends out another Geodude.
Mina (Tournament):
Onix uses Sandstorm!
A sandstorm starts brewing up!
Skitty uses Charm!
Onix's Attack drops by two levels!
Skitty is buffeted by the Sandstorm!
Skitty takes 3 damage!

((During the Daycare Battle…))
Mina watched the little Bug-type go flying, unconscious before it even hit the ground.
Oh that poor thing, she thought, expression one of pity and shock. The bug’s trainer looked like he’d swallowed something without chewing. I hope I didn’t kill it…
Both Grunts recalled their thoroughly unconscious Pokemon and sent out a new set; another Geodude from the woman and what Mina guessed was the fire-caterpillar’s evolved form from the man.
“Onix, use Rock Tomb on that cocoon-looking thing,” Mina actually looked a little uneasy at that command, but didn’t retract it. “Poliwag, use Water Gun on Geodude. You guys are doing great!”
She looked up from the battle just long enough to see Misty and Korejora’s character squaring off against the latest set of recently-arrived Grunts. She couldn’t see Spencer without taking her attention too far away from her own fight but hoped he was doing well.
((During the Tournament Battle…))
What she could see of the gigantic snake Pokemon in the rising sandstorm was fidgeting impatiently, waiting for a command.
“All right now, Onix, use Rock Tomb!”
This is nice, Mina decided. Battling without feeling her life was on the line was a nice change.

Mina:

Pupawisp is storing energy!
Onix uses Rock Tomb!
Pupawisp is hit for 72 damage! (( ))
Pupawisp faints! ((so much for Bide. ))
Poliwag uses Water Gun!
Geodude takes 38 points of damage!
Geodude faints!
The disgruntled Grunts once again see their Pokémon bite the dust.
They recall their fallen Pokémon and send out their third one ((that's 3/3 for them  )).
Female Grunt sends out Wispaferyn!
Male Grunt sends out Geodude! (())
The Pokémon the Female Grunt has sent out is an odd sight. It is about 3 feet tall and is floating above the ground. It has a round body with two small, vestigial wings and two arms. It is red and has a head similar to that of a Butterfree. ((I wish I had good drawing skills... )).
Wispaferyn goes first!
Wispaferyn uses Ember on Onix!
Onix takes 12 points of damage!
It's not very effective... ((but the Sunny Day counters that ))
Onix is burned!
Mina (tournament):
Skitty uses Attract!
Onix falls in love with Skitty!
Onix attempts to use Rock Tomb!
Onix is in love with Skitty! ((roll: 70 = FAIL!))
Onix is immobilized by love!
Skitty is buffeted by the Sandstorm!
Skitty is hit for 3 damage!

“Onix! Hang in there!”
The rock snake groaned, scorch marks plainly visible on his thick, stony hide. Mina was torn.
I don’t have anything to treat Burns, do I? All she could remember in the heat of battle was the Antidote she bought back before she and the others had attacked the Slashpeak Base, but that wouldn’t help any.
“Can you hold out for me?” A sound like a roar; but whether of determination or simply of pain, Mina couldn’t tell. “Okay, use Rock Tomb on that bug; teach him to mess with you! Poliwag, Water Gun on Geodude one more time!”
“Spencer! You doing okay?” she called back.
((Tournament…))
Mina could only barely make out her opponent’s commands, but the effects were all too clear, even through the haze of sand. Onix dropped to the ground, grinning mindlessly.
“C’mon, Onix…she’s not your type!”
The rock snake wasn’t listening, and still looked absolutely besotted.
“Oh dear…Onix, she’s already seeing someone!” Mina goaded. Onix just looked at her disdainfully through the sandstorm. Mina sighed. “Use Harden!”

Much to the surprise of everyone involved in this battle, the Wispaferyn managed to withstand the attack, albeit barely. It would seem that the Burn has weakened Onix's ability to deal damage.
Wispaferyn's Condition:
HP: 3/41
Condition: Healthy
Onix's Condition:
HP: 23/40
Condition: Burned
Poliwag uses Water Gun!
Geodude takes 39 points of damage!
Geodude faints!
The Geodude, however, was not so lucky...
You call back to Spencer. He yells back:
"I'll manage!"
Mina (Tournament):
The Lass chuckles a bit upon hearing you trying to convince your Onix to attack. Afterwards, she regains her composure and tells her Skitty to:
"Sing him to sleep!"
Skitty uses Sing! ((roll = 87 = MISS!))
The attack misses!
Onix attempts to use Harden!
Onix is in love with Skitty! ((roll = 61 = FAIL!))
Onix is immobilized by love!
Skitty is buffeted by the Sandstorm!
Skitty takes 3 damage!
Skitty: 32/41 HP
The crowd shakes its collective heads as the turn ends rather uneventfully.

Misty opens her pokedex and aims it at the creatures involved in the fight. Once she has the data, she pulls out the Geodude pokeball. "Geodude go!" she releases the Geodude and looks at the grunts. "You are standing between me and my friends, that is not a good place to be. Geodude, Ancient power on that one." Points to the Wilter. She has a very determined look on her face.
"Don't worry Mina, I am coming! As soon as I ditch the bobsy twins!"

The Grunt, who is now one Pokémon down, just stares blankly at the Geodude, alternating his stare from your Pokémon to his every few moments, until his battle partner slaps him out of his daze.

“Thanks Misty!” Mina called back.
Then Ancientpower ripped through the Bug Pokemon unfortunate enough to be facing Misty’s Geodude.
Mina broke out of her shock quickly though, remembering her own fight.
“Onix return! Poliwag! Use Water Gun on Wispaferyn! Finish it off!”
((Tournament…))
"Sing him to sleep!"
Mina had to bite off an exclamation, but she needn’t have worried; the raging sandstorm drowned out the Normal type’s attempts at song, rendering them useless.
Or maybe Onix was just so far out of it he couldn’t even pay attention to the object of his affection. Either way.
This is going badly.
She had hoped a non-offensive move wouldn’t be so hindered by Onix’s obvious infatuation, but that obviously hadn’t worked out. So she tried a different tactic: a play on his pride.
“C’mon, Onix, use Rock Tomb! You want to impress her? Show her how strong you are!”

Wondering about the shadowy figure, I first head off to where the figure was, give the area a quick look, trying to see if there is anything the figure was doing here.
If nothing found within a reasonable amount of time, I'll head in the direction the figure went, to see if I could catch up. If I can't find the figure within a reasonable amount of time, I'll head back to the Center.

You go to the area where you had seen the figure, but there appears to be nothing there. As you make to leave, you get the urge to look down. As you do so, you notice a green tag on the floor. You grab it and notice that it says:
"Authorized Pokémon Breeder for the Battle Festival"
Apparently, the mysterious figure was, or is, one of the Breeders for the Rental Tournament.

Mina’s glare at the retreating grunts was fit to peel paint. Poliwag did a little victory dance (more a series of hops, really, but why nit-pick?) as the next pair of grunts stepped forward, sending out—surprise!—more Geodude. ((Geodudes??))
I wonder if these are some of the same grunts we defeated at Slashpeak? They certainly have enough Geodude…
Mina reached for her last rental with a bit of trepidation. Poliwag was injured, but Onix was already burned—and she couldn’t leave the little tadpole to fight by itself. She sent out her last rental Pokemon.
“Be brave for me Houndour!” she cried. “Use Bite on that one! Poliwag, use Water Gun on the other one!”
"How are you holding up?" she heard Spencer call.
“I’ve been worse!” she replied honestly.

Draloed after finishing his round goes to the rental desk and places his rental's there for current storage and politely asks for his pokemon back until his next battle.
he then wanders around the village then suddenly his sandshrew scuttles ahead of him towards an interesting location ((number 3))

You notice that, as you send out the Houndour, the sunlight is weakening.
The sunlight has faded...
Poliwag uses Water Gun!

Geodude takes 18 points of damage! ((Roll = 64 = FAIL!))
The first Grunt looks on in frustration as he recalls his fainted Geodude and sends out another one (()).
The second Grunt orders his Geodude to:
"Rock Throw that Houndour!"
Geodude uses Rock Throw!
Houndour takes 30 points of damage!
It's super effective!
The Houndour is sent reeling back from the force of the blow!
The grunts look bolstered upon seeing the Houndour take the hit.

Skitty uses Sing! ((roll = 29 = SUCCESS!))
Onix falls asleep!

Onix wakes up immediately!

Skitty's Speed drops by one level!
The Lass is shocked that your Onix has managed to attack. Your Onix looks distraught at what he has just done and even turns towards you briefly in anger, for ordering him to attack his "beloved".
The Lass chastises your Onix for attacking Skitty. The Onix blushes.

He grins deviously as he attacks!

The Grunt sends out the strange light-red cocoon Bug Pokémon that others in the group have seen already.

((Daycare…))
“Finally…” Mina murmured as she noticed the sun start to fade.
Houndour yelped and went sprawling as the Rock Throw slammed into him.
“Ow! Houndour!” Mina winced and pulled out his Pokeball again. “Return!”
She replaced it and drew Onix’s. “Poliwag, use Water Gun on that Geodude—” she motioned to the one that had just been sent out ((the one at full HP)) “—while I tend to Onix!” She had remembered the Full Heal she’d received on Aitel.
Quickly as she could she dug the Full Heal out of her pack and called out the huge rock snake. He groaned miserably until Mina coated the burns with the foamy spray.
“Just hang on…” she soothed, “We just have to beat these goons and then we can go to the Pokemon Center and get you fixed up all the way…”
((Tournament…))
Strains of song began to waft from the dying storm.
Onix was sinking even closer to the ground, his body relaxing. Through the drifting sand, Mina could just make out his eyes closing in sleep.
“ONIX!” she scolded loudly.
He jerked awake with a start. The song had already died away. Mina glared at him, hands on her hips and tapping her foot as if at an errant child. Onix had the good sense to look embarrassed. Mina kept glaring.
He scooted deeper into the storm. Seconds later Mina heard a pained squeak.
“Good job Onix!” she congratulated.
Onix didn’t seem to think so. He retreated back into easy visibility, glaring sullenly at Mina through the whirling sands. Dampness collected around his eyes (and subsequently gathered sand) before being blinked away.
Her opponent was shouting something. It was hard to hear over the Sandstorm but it sounded to Mina like:
“You mean old lug! How could you hurt my poor little Skitty? She never did anything to you!”
Onix’s response to that was to blush and look suitably chastised. Annoyed that her rental was paying more attention to her opponent than her, Mina growled;
“I can’t believe you’d leave me for that tiny little puffball! How could you, Onix?”
On a less stony-countenanced being, that expression would have been a sullen pout. ((It’s like a soap opera! ))
Mina sighed, the sound lost amid the dying winds. “Use Sandstorm again.”

The girl snapped her fingers and pointed forward, an unspoken command to her Buizel, which immediately leaped forward, spraying water onto the rock Pokémon.
"Hey, Misty," she said, throwing in a greeting almost as an afterthought as her Pokémon charged into the fray. Helping each other was simply way more important than little formalities.

A villager tells you about the Breeder's convention at the Village Hall. As you make to leave, she notices the green tag and calls you back:
"You won't find those Breeders at the Hall. The Tournament Breeders should be near where you registered for the tournament ((the red tent))."
You arrive at the red tent and notice various Breeders with green tags, and one without. As you hand him the tag, he starts sweating nervously as he says:
"Thanks lass...I have things to do...take this in thanks."
He gives you 500 PD!
He seems to be hiding something as he starts walking away from you.
