Earlier

Christian but the Torkoal and meditite in his pockets.

Later

Christian nodded "Understood. I will go see her once my buisniess is concluded." Christian said and walked off in a random direction, hoping that it would look like he knew what he was doing.

After passing by a corner of a house and disappearing from the scientist's sight, Christian pulled out his pokédex and got out his map. He searched for Wobbuffet and Wyunat, and tried to see how a route taking him to one of their locations and then to moontear base would go.

((Also, I have goldfish memory, what town is this again?))

Mark and Mina:

"That must be nice."

"Not really. It's quiet, sure, but you get a limited social circle when you never have anyone new pass through town. And most of the kids my age were friends of my brother's; it's not cool to hang out with your friend's little sister."

"They were okay... and one of them was actually a friend that I came to admire. I guess that's why I keep writing in his journal..."

The question came softly, with the kind of careful quality one might use with an injured wild Pokemon. "What kind of Pokemon did he train?" Mina wasn't even entirely certain why she asked, only that it seemed the right thing to say.

----------------

Brona:

The Grunt you're addressing scoffs, not-quite-smirking. "Liar, Hannah knows better than that. What, you think I joined up yesterday? You're just shirking, is what you're doing. You got a girlfriend you're meeting up with or are you just playing hooky for kicks?"

During this bit of dialogue you can hear the radio conversation, and from the sound of it—they haven't found your bound Grunt, and the Bandra speakers on the other end of the line have no idea what the patrol Grunt is talking about. The Grunt on this end of the radio is getting increasingly bewildered as he tries to explain, while the third, so-far silent Grunt is looking from you to him and back again in confusion, but that won't last long.

----------------

Christian:

((You're in Stardust City. Western coast, about halfway down.))

You check your Pokedex. The same cave comes up as the last time you looked, on the southern edge of the Shatterhigh mountains to the south and east of Stardust. It's out of your way ((Moontear is straight north of where you are)), but realistically speaking that would probably be the case no matter what, as it is otherwise a random point in the wilderness.

It took a while for Mark to respond, and when he did it was quiet, hesitating. "I... I drew them on page four... With him and everyone else from..." Mark took another bite of his food and pulled out his journal, opening it up to the page he was talking about. "Here."

On that page everyone that had been in Zelgius's group - except Mark - had been drawn, with a name next to their portrait and their pokemon as well.

((Trainer names and pokemon:
-Jason Manden: Jericho (Froslass), Elijah (Lucario), Joshua (Gallade), Mary (Glacion)
Appearance: A young man with a serious but kind face. Has just a hint of a smile and eyes that seem to dance.
-Captain Maxwell Morris: Steelix, Flygon (He was uncreative)
Appearance: Older, looks like he was part of the Military for a few decades. Grumpy face.
-Alan Lorend: Guillotine (Scizor), Tank (Graveller), Oink (swinub)
Appearance: Looks like Zelgius, but he appears to be laughing. Must have been a twin...
-Markus Olen: Precious (Persian), Wraith (Haunter)
Appearance: Young, tall man with a wide belly and angry expression.
-Drake Bauer: Jolt (Pikachu), Spark (Quilava), Sprout (Leafeon) Appearance: Shorter man, more like a teenager, wearing thick glasses. He is holding paperwork and seems to be a little nervous.
-Zelgius Lorend: Avotre (Scyther), Gilliam (Larion), Jessia (Snorunt)
Appearance: The same old Zelgius, but well-rested, younger, unscarred and... happy.

Also, I just noticed in Zelgius's rant that Jason was not listed among those people that died... use that how you will~ ))

Bronzor chimes softly to itself and throws a half-hearted attack at Captain Tanik.

Bronzor uses Extrasensory! ((Roll = 18))
Tanik is hit for 12 damage!
It's not very effective...

Tanik seems to take notice of you again at the hit. Noticing the state of his forces, he roars, "Do I have to do everything myself?!!" and charges. Fortunately Snorlax manages to intercept with her massive bulk before he can paste you with an attack.

Tanik uses Bash!

Stacey stood wide-eyed, in surprise of the trouble she was nearly in. She would have given Snorlax a hug right then and there, though now was certainly not the time.

"Whoa..," she managed finally. She grabbed hold of Tentacool's pokeball now, and called it out. Now that there were fewer immediate threats, she figured it would stand a better chance at being able to do something.

It was good that Sky was doing well, though. No giant goats heading his way, threatening to add his blood to the scenery.

"Okay! Snorlax, rest! Mona, use sweet scent on the big fellow! Slugma, use ember, and Bronzor, you go at it with gyro ball!"

Mark and Mina:

((Oh don't worry, I will! ))

Mina was going to need to pull out her Pokedex for some of the Pokemon pictured, but refrained from doing so; it would have been horribly insensitive. She marked their appearance instead for later. And looking over the names (especially Captain Maxwell—having not heard of many military people, period, it stood out) only now did she recall Zelgius' story back at the Shatterhigh Pokemon Center. And how they all died. Apparently he hadn't been making it up...

But it was another reminder that in the grand scheme of things, her own difficulties were minor. She took Mark's hand ((whichever's closest)) and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

----------------

Brona:

The Grunt looks amused. "Yeah, okay. Bro code. Isn't that right guys?" The other Grunts have apparently not been paying attention to him however and just give him confused looks before waving him off. "Just get out of here before we have to report you, got it?"

----------------

Stacey:

((Realized for some reason I hadn't been listing Bronzor's HP. It should be fixed now.))

Your Tentacool quickly realizes most of the combatants are out of his league and takes a position by your ankles as the fight takes on a frantic quality. Tanik, no fool, Bashes Snorlax again before she can enter her healing sleep. The extremely heavy Pokemon actually gets thrown backwards by the blow and lands flat on her back, her body taking on the purple-black of Shadowing as you watch.

Snorlax is hit for 86 damage!
It's super effective!
Snorlax faints!
Snorlax is Shadowed!

((Obedience Roll = 54))
To make matters worse, Bronzor has apparently decided it wants nothing to do with the Shadow-causing goat-minotaur and hovers backwards away from him. Slugma bravely tries to take up the slack, unleashing an Ember at the Captain:

Slugma uses Ember! ((Roll = 37))
Tanik is hit for 18 damage!
It's super effective!

But while it's clear the attack has hurt, it doesn't seem to have done Tanik serious injury.

Then another burst of flame roars by overhead, one that dwarfs Slugma's Ember and is bright enough to strike shadows over the battlefield. Upon looking for the source, you see a familiar figure in all scarlet with an Arcanine by his side.

"Dream!" "It's Dream!"

The name bounces around the periphery of the battlefield. A couple trainers on the far side actually grab each other and start dancing, completely ignoring the fight—and they get away with it, too, because the remainder of the rift Pokemon are thoroughly distracted by the appearance of the crimson-clad trainer.

Tanik is furious, and for a split second forgets all about you. "Grahhh! That piece of arrogance will be your last, human!"

He raises a fist and takes a step towards Dream, but a couple Billigruff have recognized the danger and hastily pull him back towards the closing rift. Tanik moves to throw them off ((Paralysis roll = 61)) but Mona manages to control her spasming and gets him in the face with Sweet Scent, cooling his temper enough that his subordinates can pull him back into his own dimension. The rest of the rift Pokemon have also fallen into retreat, grabbing fallen comrades pulling back to the rift.

((Mona's Shadow Gauge falls 1%, BTW.))

Luxio: 0/65
Slugma: 55/60 (Shadowed: 0%)
Snorlax: 0/127 (Shadowed: 100%)
Mona: 47/65 (Paralyzed) (Shadowed: 0%)
Bronzor: 120/120
Tentacool: 31/31

Serranix 1: 0/65 (Shadowed: 94%)
Serranix 2: 0/60 (Shadowed: 96%)
Serranix 3: 0/71 (Shadowed: 92%)
Billigruff 1: 5/63 - Caught!
Billigruff 2: 0/71
Captain Tanik: 95/125 - fled

----------------

Christian:

You find the Pokemon Center on the north end of the town square and go inside. The interior obviously saw some fighting when the city was taken (there are cracks in the ceiling where something hard must have hit, and a long stretch of scorch mark on one wall) but it is likewise obvious that someone has tried to clean up a little: the sand and plaster dust have been swept from the floor and the furniture has been replaced or repaired where possible. You can still smell the bodies hanging outside, but someone's been spraying massive amounts of air freshener to cover the stink.

There is no Nurse Joy here, instead a Bandra Grunt is behind the counter reading a book; he stands and salutes hastily when you tell him who you are. When told you want a checkup and a room for the night, he quickly takes you into the overnight section and boots out the Grunts already sleeping there so you have a room to yourself. A little while later you hear a knock at the door and a professional-looking man enters with a stethoscope around his neck. You explain the problem and he takes a look.

After a short examination he proclaims the injuries to be a little strained, but otherwise healing nicely. He reminds you to breath deeply from time to time and puts a salve on your ribs that dulls the pain.

((Got anything else you want to do or shall I skip to morning?))

Stacey recalls her pokemon, thankful for having gotten through that. She would have liked it better if Snorlax hadn't been knocked out and shadowed prior to Tanik's fleeing, but at least she hadn't been taken away afterwards.

With her pokemon recalled, she walks over to Dream. She brushes some hair from her face, her face revealing how tired she feels.

"Hello there. It's been a while. Nice to see you."

Nearby the last of the attacking Pokemon vanish with their captives and the rift seals behind them. Across the battlefield, Sky and a couple of other trainers have to physically restrain the woman with the Zigzagoon, who is doing her best to throw herself after them and breaks down sobbing when the rift closes.

Dream looks at you in confusion for a moment before recognition dawns. "I remember you. You were at the Bandra Base in Slashpeak, right?" He waits for you to confirm or deny the claim before continuing, flashing a bright, confidant smile as he does. "How are you doing? Destroyed any more Bandra bases recently?"

"I remember you. You were at the Bandra Base in Slashpeak, right?"

"Yeah. That's where. Back where I was making more mistakes than I am now."

"How are you doing? Destroyed any more Bandra bases recently?"

"I'm doing," she pauses for a yawn and stretch, "alright." She smiles a smile that looks entirely too fake. "For the most part, I guess. I mean, apart from losing track of where my friends went, having issue with my, well, wild sandshrew, and now getting charged at by a big pokemon, only to be rescued by Snorlax, who didn't fare too well with the strike, or the one that followed." She stopped her run-on sentence briefly to catch a breath. "Oh, and Bronzor not listening to me. On the other hand, I did catch a few new pokemon recently, including one just now. As far as destroying Bandra Bases, no. We ruined them taking a pokemon center, and tried to take back Keida, but failed there."

She looks over to Sky, and sees him near the sobbing woman. She is unsure why the woman is crying, but is sure it's nothing of good news. Stacey turns to face Dream again.

"I tried to distract Captain Tanik from that rift so others could help rescue people and pokemon from being dragged into the rift. Maybe I should have sent some of my pokemon to help with that too. Looks like she lost someone important to her." Stacey let out a heavy sigh, then continued, "So, how are you? What have you been up to?"

Mark's smile was gone as he continued eating, though anyone could tell you that he always seemed to have one. How odd. The young man ate his food with less vigor than before, not really tasting it anymore. Which was rather quite a pity, since the soup was very well made.

Brona:

You continue on your way, and shortly the trio of Grunts have vanished behind a bend in the road. Which means you're only within earshot when you hear the Grunt with the radio bellow "Get back here!"

----------------

Stacey:

"...As far as destroying Bandra Bases, no. We ruined them taking a pokemon center, and tried to take back Keida, but failed there."

"Too bad. But I guess not everyone can be as good as me," Dream responds. "I did hear about your group rescuing the Starlight Squad from the Shrine of Light, even if it was only for a few days. So good job there."

"I tried to distract Captain Tanik from that rift so others could help rescue people and pokemon from being dragged into the rift. Maybe I should have sent some of my pokemon to help with that too. Looks like she lost someone important to her."

Dream seems to hesitate here, a little. "I'm sure she'll get over it. If not, there are other rifts."

"So, how are you? What have you been up to?"

Dream's cocky air returns with a vengeance. "Maybe you haven't heard, but it's because of me this town is free of Bandra right now. The Taskmaster put up a good fight too; too bad you weren't here to see it, maybe you could have picked up some tips."

----------------

Mark and Mina:

"All right." You are just a font of diplomacy lately, aren't you Mina? "Change of subject then. What do you do for fun?"

----------------

Christian:

You wake up around 9 AM, with something of a headache thanks to the overpowering air freshener. Your morning routine is unremarkable except in how normal it is considering your location, and you set off for the cave you'd looked up the day before without delay. The biggest down point is probably walking out of the Center back into the stink of corpses, but that passes once you're away from Stardust's main square.

((Let me know if you switch out Pokemon or anything while you're at the Center.))

((Roll = 43, 3))

Most of the trip passes likewise without incident. You run across Bandra patrols, of course, but your rank as Officer is sufficient to keep them from bothering you. You're most of the way to your destination when you hear the skittering of gravel on rock, above you.
