Mina (Daycare):
Spencer nods as he starts towards the Pokémon Center, the three intrepid heroes following closely behind.
A few minutes later:
Spencer, you, Misty and Korejora are now inside of the Pokémon Center, Pokémon completely healed.
Spencer then says to the three of you:
"Thanks a lot for helping me out back there. I definitely picked the right group of people to trust."
Spencer smiles happily as a tear suddenly rolls from his left eye. He turns away.

Mina looked a little concerned. “Are you okay?”

Heh, no worries.  I’d noticed, I just figured I didn’t need it so I didn’t say anything. Mina, on the other hand…))
It took a great deal of self-control for Mina not to gape.
Chansey can learn Toxic?
Her sense of shock was short-lived, however, as Onix tossed something green that had been hidden under his tongue into the air and swallowed it. ((He doesn’t have hands, I don’t know where else he would keep it…)) Afterwards Onix looked considerably less ill. It took a moment for Mina to process what had happened.
“You—”
Mina had to grit her teeth to keep from shrieking something rude about rocks for brains.
“Why didn’t you do that earlier?”
Onix looked rather sheepish. It was plain he’d forgotten.
“You—you—arrgh,” Mina growled at last, grumbling under her breath. “Hopeless!”
Onix sank lower to the ground, embarrassed. His infatuation seemed to have evaporated with the disappearance of Skitty, gone as if it had never existed.
“Use Rock Tomb.” Mina deadpanned, holding a hand to her head. She knew the sandstorm would die off in a bit, but didn’t want her other rentals to get hurt if Onix got poisoned again and had to be recalled. She had a backup in mind if it came to that, but for now Onix was doing good damage.

Stacey:
The man looks at you even more nervously as, suddenly, a Poké Ball falls out of his left pocket. It opens up to reveal a Shuckle. The other Breeders quickly recognize it as the Champion's Shuckle and start grilling the nervous Breeder with questions. He quickly sobers up and rips off his green Breeder Shirt, revealing Bandra colors.
He looks decidedly calmer now that the farce is over. He recalls the Shuckle, places it in his backpack, and takes out his own belt with 3 Pokémon. The Breeders look on, powerless to do anything without any Pokémon in their possession. The double-agent Breeder stares at you and remarks:
"Well well, it would seem I have to shut you up then. You won't beat me, foolish girl! Perhaps this battle will teach you to not meddle in Bandra affairs..."
His composure, as compared to about a minute ago, is night and day.
Bandra Breeder challenges you to a battle!
Bandra Breeder sends out Skarmory!

“Take care of yourself,” Mina said in farewell. Feeling suddenly depressed, she excused herself briefly. “I’m going to go freshen up.”
She wandered into the Pokemon Center bathroom, taking the opportunity to clean up, check her bandages for seeping blood and prepare for her upcoming match.
It was painfully clear to her in that moment that even if they freed the region from Bandra’s influence, it would never be the same. Spencer would probably never be able to have peace with his brother again, the dead would remain dead and the Pokemon who had suffered from the region’s slow death would still have suffered.
But it was all they could do. And she had a match coming up.
Once Mina had finished cleaning up, she rejoined the others just long enough to excuse herself again.
“Well, I’ve got my match in a little bit guys. I’ll see you later. If anything comes up, text me okay?” Mina waved farewell and smiled (a little sadly) to her friends as she left the center.
((And unless you’re going to have her get jumped by goons on the way to the tournament, winter, that’s it!  ))
((Tournament))
“Great work, Onix!”
A part of her was starting to worry that Chansey was going to use a healing technique and wipe away all the damage Onix had just dealt. Those Leftovers were bad enough…
Mina flinched as the Toxic overcame Onix’s system once again. “Hang on!” she called.
It was, she believed, time to recall him. She’d seen his moves, and couldn’t see how any of them would significantly change that outcome; there was no point in delaying. Sandstorm would only hurt the rest of her team. Rock Tomb was doing good damage, but wouldn’t wipe away the Toxic and if Chansey healed it would do Onix more harm than it would do the match good. Harden would be singularly useless in this case. None of them would do any significant good.
Wait.
Like lightning, an idea struck.
“Onix, hang in there for just a little bit longer! Use Taunt!”
There was a severe risk in this; Mina had never actually seen a Pokemon use Taunt before, and only had the Pokedex’s description of the attack to go on. She wasn’t entirely sure of what it could do, or did do.
But if it worked…
((*hopes fervently that Taunt does what I think it does*))

Initially thinking that I may have to battle the shuckle, I try to decide which pokemon I'd like to start out with as the other breeders are questioning him. The fact that he is a Bandra spy, revealed by the change in clothing, doesn't surprise me much.
As I see that he recalls that shuckle, and calls out the skarmory, I've pretty well made my decision on which pokemon I'll be using. For now, at least.
To get to know the pokemon type I will definitely be traveling with in the future, I choose to send out the slugma.
"Slugma, use Ember!"

Spencer looks back and nods sadly, before heading out the door.
You arrive at the tournament grounds just as the last battle of the second sequence ends. The announcer notices you and shows you over to your assigned arena.
"Your opponent will be this Lass *points to the Lass*", says the announcer.
((And from here, you can cut to your battle sequence, which is already underway ))

You immediately notice that his Pokémon are several levels above your own. The other Breeders notice this as well, as one of them runs to the west...apparently to get help of some sort.
The Bandra Breeder notices this as well and grins:
"Help won't arrive soon enough for you. I will capture you and take you to my commanders!"
Slugma uses Ember!
Skarmory takes 17 points of damage!
Its super effective!
Skarmory is burned!
Skarmory suffers from its burn!
Skarmory loses 8 HP!
Skarmory's Condition:
HP: 31/56
Condition: Burned
Slugma's Condition:
HP: 14/41
Condition: Healthy
The Breeder flinches and remarks coldly:
"So, the young girl knows how to pick on weaknesses. Two can play that game!"
The Breeder switches out Skarmory!
Bandra Breeder sends in Graveler!
He takes a moment to gloat in a stereotypically evil manner, saying:
"How does it feel to stare in the face of defeat?!"
