Jack, seeing as how he had just been in an incident earlier, with the ship, decides it best to head straight to the pokemon center to get his pokemon checked out, fed and have something himself. He talks with the nurse about such things, and asks more about the latest news of the area. After all is well and good, he travels back out. With a left turn from the entrance, he takes a closer look at the helicopter wreckage.

"Bandra, I would assume, with the B. Pretty impressive, whoever took this down."

Jack stretched out his arms, and turned west. There was a large building in that direction. However what caught his eye was the park beyond. Smiling, he found his way to the park.

"Where'd this come from?"

"Er... well... Ariados sort of... ate a guy's wallet." He explained, scratching the back of his head. "Destroyed everything but the money, the guy's ID and a few dirty pictures... one of which had the phone number on it. It was a name that pretty much doesn't go with any of the pictures, so... I'm assuming that since those grunts introduced Jaime to his dealer and the probably had contact with him that the money is from ill-gotten methods and that the number is for the dealer." Hopefully it wasn't for a prostitute. That... that would be awkward. >n>

*Mina's plan*

"Alright, let's see here. I think we're probably going to have to go for this guy and the poochyena. I don't think we have the time or the resources to take on an entire smuggling ring while dealing with Bandra. Maybe at a later date, but... And the best way to take him down is just to have one of us show ourselves and then have the rest of use try to confuse him, knock him out or make him sleep. I'll make sure to ask about pokemon in particular during the call... er... would you recommend asking about buying or selling?" Either way, if he gave them an affirmative answer then they would know that shady dude was the guy they were looking for. "... Oh, and as for the local law enforcement... yeah, if we get the guy and know what he is and set up a meeting, then we'll call up the law enforcement and give them the location. I think we should tell them to come in a bit late, though. Just to make sure the guy isn't tipped off..."

Jack:

While talking to the nurse, you find that apparently there have been a number of sicknesses passing through the wild Pokemon population out of the mountains—Scarlet Froth mostly, and a few cases of Creeping Tide. You also learn that there seems to be a crime problem in the area, and the nurse instructs you to seek out Wain, the local Ranger, if you see anything suspicious.

After looking around town a while you make your way to the park. The man behind the counter at the entrance informs you you may only bring in one Pokemon at a time, and indicates lockable boxes you can use to store any others you may have. Also, the Pokemon you bring must be no more than three feet in length.

((Who do you bring?))

----------------

Main group:

((Eph, speak up!))

"Er... well... Ariados sort of... ate a guy's wallet. Destroyed everything but the money, the guy's ID and a few dirty pictures... one of which had the phone number on it. It was a name that pretty much doesn't go with any of the pictures, so... I'm assuming that since those grunts introduced Jaime to his dealer and the probably had contact with him that the money is from ill-gotten methods and that the number is for the dealer."

"Mark, you robbed him!" Mina pushed 'her' third of the money back to Mark. She knew that she really shouldn't be so bothered; Dove had done the same thing to Bandra back in Slashpeak, and if it had been a Bandra Grunt whose wallet had been stolen she wouldn't have been the least bit troubled. And if they were selling Pokemon or helping them be sold, the money was just as illegally gained; that lot just hadn't happened to wear uniforms.

But...but...but...

A good chunk her reaction, a tiny, clear-thinking part of her mind noted, was simple shock: Mark seemed like such a nice, polite person...and here his Pokemon were picking pockets...

Eventually, however, Mina managed to un-gum her brain enough to blurt out something coherent.

"If the Ranger finds out," she said, mentally side-stepping the morality knot her thoughts were twisting into, "he's never going to believe a word we say. He already thinks you tried to rob me, and I vouched for you."

((After plan: ))

"Alright, let's see here. I think we're probably going to have to go for this guy and the poochyena. I don't think we have the time or the resources to take on an entire smuggling ring while dealing with Bandra. Maybe at a later date, but..."

Mina nodded, though internally she was disappointed. She wanted to drag a bunch of filthy Pokemon thieves back in chains, even if logically it was impractical at the moment.

"And the best way to take him down is just to have one of us show ourselves and then have the rest of use try to confuse him, knock him out or make him sleep. I'll make sure to ask about pokemon in particular during the call... er... would you recommend asking about buying or selling?"

"Buying," Mina said almost instantly. "We can try to get him to bring the Poochyena that way. And if we can catch the guy with stolen Pokemon on him, we'll have solid evidence." Mina looked briefly thoughtful. "I'll try and get a list of other Pokemon that have been stolen recently beforehand, too."

"... Oh, and as for the local law enforcement... yeah, if we get the guy and know what he is and set up a meeting, then we'll call up the law enforcement and give them the location. I think we should tell them to come in a bit late, though. Just to make sure the guy isn't tipped off..."

"I think that's a good idea. We should keep this as quiet as possible."

*Mina's reaction*

Mark flinched at her accusation and looked down, her third in his hand as he hesitated for a moment... and then told her, "I didn't want to rob him. The nurse told me that Ariados had stolen his wallet once I was in the pokemon center and I... panicked. I didn't know what to say, she thought it was mine, and if I told her then what do you think she would have done? She was one of the people who thought I stole your pokemon too... it would have been just as bad as the ranger. So I... I took it.

"After we had left, I had time to actually think about it and realized that I couldn't return it." Mark held up a hand to quell the objection Mina might have. "No, listen for a second... after taking the wallet out I thought about returning it, but after looking inside and finding out that the credit cards had been destroyed, it didn't take me long to figure out that returning it would end poorly. If a guy that would sell pokemon wouldn't have accused me of stealing from him out of spite before, he would definitely have done it as revenge for breaking his property. And even if the rangers or police believed that it was an accident, they would have taken Ariados away. Because he's dangerous, Mina. He's threatened, hurt and now stolen from people... they would think that h-he's too dangerous to stay with me and I don't... I don't want to lose him. He's my oldest friend, I don't want to..." The trainer looked at his hands and the money in them.

The fact of the matter was, Ariados would have been taken away for rehabilitation, but the spider might not have been fixable. He might be so bad that they would just put him down to make sure the arachnid wouldn't threaten anyone again... which is something that Mark wouldn't allow to happen. "I'll... I'll put him in storage as soon as I can, but... I'm not going to lose him too. S-so yeah... I'm gonna keep the wallet thing a secret, and if you don't want the money then that's okay, but... please. Please don't tell anyone."

After making his request, Mark patted Lapras's side and held out the trainer's wallet. "Here buddy, just... have a snack, alright?" He asked, letting the water/ ice pokemon eat the piece of chewed on leather and everything inside of it. "Thank you... Return." He pushed some of the ice his Lapras had made to the girls and became a bit silent after that, curling his knees up against his chest. His Kirlia put a hand on Mark's shoulder and he closed his eyes. He nodded at Mina's input to the plan, not talking or really moving at the moment as his mind connected the dots that this wasn't the first time he had done something wrong to protect someone he cared about... He'd downed that helicopter for Mina, killing a bunch of the people inside after all, which is something that he still hadn't told her... but which obviously was eating at him still. He probably wouldn't tell her even if she asked, more because he didn't want her to know out of shame than because he thought she would think poorly of him... though she would definitely think differently. He assumed it would be for the worse, and it was better to just not take the risk and deal with it on his own, no matter how much it was eating him up inside.

Mina sighed. At least he'd had some line of logic behind it—not like that time when Misty had decided to stop in the middle of enemy territory to groom her fish.

"After we had left, I had time to actually think about it and realized that I couldn't return it. No, listen for a second... after taking the wallet out I thought about returning it, but after looking inside and finding out that the credit cards had been destroyed, it didn't take me long to figure out that returning it would end poorly. Mina sighed again, half-muttering, "At least it was someone who deserved it." More normally, she added, "Fine. If they hear about it, it won't be from me. But Mark, you can't let Ariados go on acting like this. Because you do realize—as his trainer, you are legally responsible for everything he does, right? They might take him away but you will end up in prison, and I know for fact there is at least one nasty, kill-happy individual in the Helnith prison system you do not want to come across."

There was a tense, far-away look in Mina's eyes as she recalled Altros. Mark had never met him, but Mina could hardly forget him; he was the reason she had the injuries on her ribs and arm that had had her in and out of the hospital since she came to Helnith. He wasn't the smartest, but dangerous? He was that. In spades.

Having made her decision, Mina watched Mark feed the wallet to his Lapras without protest. The Water type made a disgusted face before vanishing into his Pokeball.

----------------

Jack:

The man hands you a key to lock away the rest of your team. "Enjoy your stroll with your...err..." He fumbles briefly, apparently not recognizing the species, as he finishes awkwardly and with excessive false brightness: "...with your Bug monster!"

((How long do you stroll for?))

----------------

Jack (edit):

((Find Roll = 43, 24, 31, 84, 14, 80))
((Treasure Roll = 67, 58))

You stroll around the park for an hour, your Swadloon scooting along beside you and enjoying the relative shade of the bushes. Occasionally the Grass type scuttles off the path briefly before returning with some brightly-colored thing which he then indicates for you to take. ((+1 Red Glow, +1 Yellow Leaf))

After a while you reach a playground and he detours to play on a Pokemon-scaled slide. When this stops being fun, the Grass type String-shots his way onto one of the nearby swings and calls out to you, shaking it back and forth meaningfully.

Jack:

Your Swadloon lets out a buggy cheer as you push him on the swing. A couple of Taillow flutter to the top of the swing set to watch, chirping encouragement, and a small swarm of Hoppip ((four of them)) float over the fence to stare curiously at the unfamiliar Pokemon. A couple of other trainers stroll into the playground as well, and their Pokemon—a fluffy, cream-colored dog Pokemon you've never seen before and a Pichu—begin playing together on the merry-go-round.

Jack was about to take out his pokedex to scan the dog pokemon, but thought better of it due to the fact that he would have to stop pushing the swing for a bit to do so. That, and he wasn't sure his pokedex would even recognize the pokemon. Checking back in with Nurse Joy, to see if there's an update that's needed, would be a good idea later. Though, for the moment, a quick call out to the other trainers would likely yield the information.

"Excuse me, but what pokemon is that," Jack asks, pointing to the dog. "I haven't seen that one before."
