Mark blinks at that suggestion, looks at the small bird, and says, "Oh. Yeah, that makes more sense." Taking in a breath, his robotic fingers click against his palm and he says, "Alright. Plan's set... let's go. Wain, we're up first."

Everyone gets into position. Tattersail strikes first ((yes Mark’s Kirlia is faster than the level 44 Bronzor )), the Grunt on the group’s left crumpling with a strangled cry. The other sentry barely has time to reach for a Pokéball before the Extrasensory hits, at which point she seizes up and falls stiffly sideways with a light thump.

A minute passes. Then two. The activity from the camp doesn’t change; no loud yells or bursts of activity.

Tattersail shields her eyes with a dainty limb, peering in that direction. <They don’t realize anything is wrong yet.>

I tuck Weepinbell's pokeball inside my shirt and turn away from the camp summoning the grass type out.

"Mind if we could get some vines to tie up some more prisoners bud? Need ya to be as quiet as possible. Don't want you going all out shattering rocks with your whips." I turn back to the others and shrug, "Figured it'd be a good idea."

Matt’s Weepinbell has the Grunts thoroughly bound in short order.

“Okay, now what?” Mina asks quietly. The camp is visible from here, and she presses herself out of sight as best she can manage.

The group can make out a similar number of Grunts compared to the last assault, but there is decidedly less talking and they seem more focused and on-task than the last set. In addition to the scree slopes and tents from last time, a number of sharp rocks are currently scattered throughout the camp (which Mark and Mina recognize as Stealth Rock) and at least one weird blue pillar(?) that wasn’t here last time.

"How many do you reckon we could quick KO before engaging the rest of them? I'd imagine a similar ambush attack might be quite effective in removing a number of them before reinforcements arrive. As Taillow is native to this region, I could have her fly over and provide a distraction. Poop on one of the enemy perhaps or something? Maybe fly in their faces? Also, does anyone know what the odd blue thing is? I've never seen one before."

Mark's eyes narrow at that pillar, and before coming up with a new strategy he asks Wain and Pellena, "Do either of you know what that is? Some kind of... detector, shield generator or teleportation blocker or something?"

“Those sharp stones look like Stealth Rock,” Mina pointed out. “If Taillow gets close enough to do damage, she’ll be close enough to take damage.” ((I’ll allow a little bit of leeway for Pokémon that are out of their balls but aren’t actually in battle, but actually attacking the Grunts will count as in battle. Pooping on their faces I’ll allow as not. ))

"Also, does anyone know what the odd blue thing is? I've never seen one before."

"Do either of you know what that is? Some kind of... detector, shield generator or teleportation blocker or something?"

“Bandra hasn’t been really big on technology until recently…” Pellana trails off, uncertain. “I would think they would save that kind of stuff for their bases, not some random camp in the mountains, but if you three attacked here once already, I guess they might…?”

Ranger Wain frowns at his Styler. “It could be a Pokémon, but I can’t tell from here. We’re too far away, and there are too many things in the way.”

"A pokemon? Like a, er.... what's it called.... Regice? Are Bandra grunts capable of obtaining something that rare?" Wait a minute, wasn't I told before that the kingpin Bandra guy had some sort of mythical pokemon under his command that caused the shipwreck to begin with? I suppose it's not entirely impossible for them to have a Regice if that's the case. Regardless... "Perhaps there's something extremely valuable here after all?"

"A pokemon? Like a, er.... what's it called.... Regice? Are Bandra grunts capable of obtaining something that rare?"

There is some brief consulting of Pokédexes before anyone replies.

“Not Grunts,” Mina answers at last, “but if there’s an Officer here we’re in trouble.”

“It’s too short to be a Regice,” Ranger Wain adds, prompting Mina to wonder privately how someone got that sort of data for a Legendary Pokémon.

"Perhaps there's something extremely valuable here after all?"

“I guess we’ll see,” Mina shrugs. “Bandra seemed to think it was worth restocking the camp after we hit it last time. But it might just be a useful waypoint; there can’t be that many paths through the mountains.” Mostly she was thinking if there was something valuable or useful in the camp itself, they’d have found it last time.

Shaking his head, Mark says, "If we're going to have to deal with all of those Stealth Rocks, we're going to start at a somewhat large disadvantage as it is, and I don't like the presence of that structure, mostly because I have no idea what it does. But... well, there's not much we can do about it. So unless someone has a way to reset the battlefield, we'll just have to deal with it."

Narrowing his eyes, Mark adds, "Actually, wait a second, let me check..." And telepathically, he asks Kirlia, -Hey, any theories on what this spire thing does? Do you feel like any of your capabilities are weakened?- And he relays any information she gives to him to the group.

<I feel fine. But its defenses are strong enough I can’t read anything from it.> She squeezes her eyes shut and holds her dainty hands to her head, obviously trying to concentrate. <There might be more than one...?>

"Alright, you've mentioned stealth rocks a few times now... Anyone care to fill me in on what you're talking about? You sound almost... terrified of the things."

Mina tried to think of the best way to explain it. “They’re…a sort of trap move. They do Rock damage to any Pokémon that enters their area of effect.” (( ‘Area of effect’ = Any Pokémon sent out to battle))

Mark narrows his eyes at the pillar as Tattersail informs him of that, and tells the group, "There might be more than one pillar..." Thinking about the Stealth Rock issue again, he asks, "Don't pokemon moves eventually fade away? Or... are there open points in the ring? The grunts have to be able to enter and leave the camp, after all."

“If they put it up once they can probably put it up again,” Mina pointed out, “And the Grunts could just be careful where they put their feet, they aren’t going to be the ones dodging flamethrowers or lightning bolts.” And Mina didn’t see any obvious gaps in the field of sharp rocks, though she allowed she might just be missing them; it was difficult to check that and stay hidden at the same time.

"Would it be theoretically possible to attack the stealth rocks, destroying them, and bypassing the threat all together even if it gives us away?"

In theory I don’t see why not, in practice we’re probably going to need that element of surprise. If we want to ‘bypass the threat’ we’d probably do better just to find a way around the camp altogether.”
