Looking back at claymore I'm surprised at all the things that made no sense. Seems the writer is trying to sound smart but he fails. Also after checking the manga a bit I can only suggest the anime, at least it's cool and shiny

What I love in FMA is the fact that author resigned from the well known template of defeating an enemy  Im at 37 episode of anime and so far there was no situation as - meeting a powerful foe, getting owned, going for training/having a flashback from past, gaining more power, owning the enemy. Sweet.
I hope it wont change that much later on.

I've started fma brotherhood myself, pretty damn good. Plot never gets stuck in the mud, always moves ahead. Also the changes from the other anime and the manga actually enrich it and set it apart

I'm up to episode 51 of Scientist with Metal Arm, Leg, and Brother, and while it's great, I can't say that it's better than the first series. On one hand, Brohood is less fillerish and its plot feels more epic (not to mention it doesn't have anime Wrath). On the other hand, some characters were more enjoyable in the first series (Maes Hughes, Armstrong, Kimblee, etc).

I've been consuming comics a lot lately.
Just read Id. A bloody awesome. Art is top notch. Fighting scenes are just 
Starts with a flash but you'll get on it quite well. Has the sin of showing us too much of the side characters at times but that's about only problem I have with it. Beside of the fact that it seems to take forever to get somewhere. And has a few minor thgings in the starrt.
Take a look if you're interested in a nice fantasy story with best fights you've ever seen.
