There's gotta be something more creative than dragons. There has to be. I know creativity isn't Nival's strong point but come on.

The dragon gods are cool
I can imagine H6 will be about the demon Overlords VS the Elemental Dragons and Asha VS Urgash.
An the Faceless always had Malassa, thé Dragon of Shadow. Its not something new.
SHALASSA: Naga, these follow the wise Dragon of Water.
ARKATH: Dwarf, these follows the fercious Dragon of Fire.
SYLATH: Human, the majority later swapped to Elrath. Its very, very, very, very, very possible that Sylaths dragons became corrupted and turned into Wyverns. The Orcs adopted Sylath as "Father Sky".
ELRATH: Angels. Most humans follow this Dragon of Light now.
SYLVANNA: Wood Elves, these follow the ancient rites of Sylvanna who is speculated to be the Orcs "mother earth" (although it might be Asha).
URGASH: The Demons, in addition to six Overlords (counter parts of thesix dragons above) they follow the primordial evil Dragon of Chaos.
ASHA: The Dragonknights and the Blind Brothers (plus many others, including Necros) follows this primordial good Dragon of Order.

I already said that the faceless had Malassa in the begining of the post (dark elves are obvious)
The Angels are already there at Elrath

Oh, come on OmegaDestroyer! Dragons are for HoMM something like Light Swords for Jedi knights or somethin
If no dragons in HoMM than what?
Dungeon - Mega Dark Elve as tier 7?
Sylvan - Hyper Elve as tier 7?
Necropolis... no, bad example
Maybe I'm boring but dragons are the tradition of HoMM series.
But maybe you say that dragons shouldn't be Gods. Maybe they shouldn't...

Yeah, there are black and bone dragons. We don't need every other vapid alternative out there. It's too much. People would be just as annoyed if half the races had unicorns and griffins.
If you want tradition, go back to the Ancients and the Kreegans.

I like the different kinds of dragons. If only they could systemize the damn thing instead of mixing it all up with Green and Emerald Dragons in same faction and you give me.

Have to go with Omega on this one, Dragons are too cliche with their chromatic names, and the fact that they are all exclusively level 7 creatures (Wyvern is an exception, but then it might not be related) doesn't help either. Also, we only see the big flyers which can get annoying, surely there are drakes (wingless dragons) around, or fairy-dragons (spellcasters), maybe even adolescent dragons.

Dragons are more tradiaton then the stupid Sci-Fi robotic insectoid "demons in disguise" creatures.
Plus there are no Ancients or Kreegans anymore. They dont exist anymore (yes, I know you will say "LotA" but I consider that as a fan made mod and its not a game) and will never do again.

I had no intention of mentioning Legends of the Ancients. Mods are mods; not canon.
As to dragons being traditional, it's a boring tradition. It's lazy.
"We need a story."

I agree with OmegaDestroyer, the Dragon-centred sutff is a little overused, some new faces would make some good (altough, in the faction I am making, they are tier 7, but I have some alternatives for it. Besides, I haven't posted it yet because the forum says I can't make threads )

No they're not...
I mean, you know, it's quite an uber-brainless argument to say "X is better than Y because Y is stupid". Have you no better reasoning than opinion? Also, what robotic creatures, and who is a Demon in disguise? Agrael?
By the way, Dragon Gods are indeed the epitome of generic plot devices. Especially when TotE shows everyone that they - ie Arkath - are really just oversized versions of the normal ones.

I agree. Let's get some Hydra gods maybe!
I have to say, I preferred the thought-provoking, just plain odd post-apocalyptic technological regression of the previous M&M world to the more generic fantasy with bog standard demons/angels/etc we have now.
However, let's not add in any more dragon gods. I'm all for Dragons in HoMM, they tend to make some of the most fun units (playing with Armageddon's Blade dizzying array of dragons was awesome) but as gods it gets kinda lame after a while.
As far as towns go though, just give me my beautiful Fortress back and I'm happy. I want lizardmen with gorgons and basilisks and HoMM 6 will be fulfilled for me.
For the other towns, I want Dungeon to remain the same but would be fine with any other changes, I think.

I don't see the problem - Dragon Gods or Elemental Gods, it's not like there is an ingame problem anyway, do we even SEE any references to the Gods in game except perhaps for some odd creature descriptions and a campaign passage in HoF?

There's nothing inherently wrong with dragon gods, but they are a bit clichéd by now, and H5 does have more in-town dragons than any previous version:
H1. 1 town in 4 (1/4).
H2. 2 towns in 6 (1/3).
H3. 3 towns in 8/9 (3/8, 1/3).
H4. 3 towns in 6, but exclusive alternatives reduce it (1/2, 1/4).
H5. 3/4/4 towns in 6/7/8 (1/2, 4/7, 1/2).
Yes, Dragons can be useful as a filler for those difficult high-level holes, but let's keep it in perspective shall we?

Damn, couldn't get in the posting... Oh well.
Heres what i think the new races should be, looking at who got in the top 12.
1. Nature Elves
2. Lizardfolk (I refuse to call them Lizardmen)
3. Undead (but creative undead (Dwarf zombies and skeletal elf archers as well as human skeletons, that sort of thing)
4. Demons
5. Orcs + Beastmen (This includes Trolls and Ogres)
6. Tinkerers (WOW gnome and WOW goblin based. Steam powered city.)
7. Humans
8. Wizards
9. High Elves (Sort of like the Blood Elves)
The last two are possibilities for races.
Just nine races, and i suspect any more than eight and the game will never make stores, especially if they want to improve graphics. And i suspect nine is cutting it close anyway.
