Sorry, I just think some statements are too .. stupid. And I have never, and don't know anyone, with that attitude. You know, "you can forgive each other" and that kinda snow.

And I agree with your above post btw! 100%

There is a rule.

Both sides must want the same.

Ie. I want to be with her and vice versa.

What happens when she wants to leave me for 2 years?

I want to be with her, but she prefers to develop her personality, life, career, whatever - alone.

Mutually exclusive. And doesn't work.

In any relationship you should never break the golden rule. You go with someone else then you dont deserve the other person no IFS or BUTS.

I think some men need to think more with their brains and not be lead by another part of their body

Why the stereotypical "all/most/some men are like this and that" ?

Generalizing sucks. There's as many sex-crazed men as women.

Well said ohforfsake if you love someone then you give youreself 100% who cares that you have to wait for sex etc just think of the great sex you will have when you are together. Anyway love isnt just about the physical stuff its about the inner stuff as well, its like being in the old days when a man and woman courted before jumping into bed with each other I think its romantic  it also shows that you care for that person deeper. I know I do
Erhm, i don't even agree 1% with you.. I love her, but it was her dream to see New Zealand and live there for 2 years. No person is worth givin up your dreams for. We both agreed that two years is a looong time to stay away from girls (Boys for her ofcourse). Shure, the sex is not needed, but its a big-ass plus in my book. I still love her, and i still get Air-male from her. But long distances just doesn't work. She will meet someone over there, and you cant force anyone to stay away from the opposite for that long.
And the new girl i met, Kathya, makes me feel like me and my x took the right choice when we broke up..

Wog_edn# Thanks for agreeing ;p

People are overestimating sex. It's the mind that suffers the most. The awareness that the person left you, put you in a cupboard like a nice toy that can wait until THEY had a good time, THEY fulfilled their dreams and they can finally return to you after THEY feel like it's enough of their solo fun.

Highly egoistic.

I also dream of seeing New Zealand But if I were in relationship at the time such an option became possible, I would either take my girl with me, or not go at all.

Because the fact that I'm going to enjoy it alone for 2 frickin years means I don't really care for her that much. Ergo the relationship is a waste of time.

But what if you want to go and the other doesn't?
There are no other issues about being able to go or not. He/she just doesn't want to.
What does that make?

Then I don't go.

Albeit I don't think it's that hard to convince a person that loves you to follow you to a paradise-like country for a lifetime adventure

nah, it doesn't. You see, the tricky part is that the partner would most likely want to go instead of remaining alone here for 2 years. A little convincing would do the trick. however, if someone has valid reasons why NOT to go, I have no problem with delaying it or even giving up on it - if that's not a stupid whim, of course.

No pussylike behavior here, friend

I already said that there was no other issue to it than you wanting to go and the partner not wanting to go. No hidden reasons or problems. You just want to go to to new zealand for two years and your partner doesn't.
A direct cross of interests.

I'm sure some compromise can be achieved. Even the hardest problems have some sort of possible compromise.

What's egoistic, however, is to say that you decided to leave the partner for like 2 years and he can faithfully wait for your return while you will be having loads of fun around the world.

True that.

But it's just as much egoistic for the other to be staying home having loads of fun while the other is faithfully travelling around the world. Makes no difference.

So what if they're apart for 2 years? It's not like that was uncommon just a few decades ago. In the end if they break up during that time or not is all up to how much they want to keep the relationship they have.

Not at all.. The mind plays a lot with you in that situation.. But i don't agree, i was at a alcohol vacasion to bulgaria last summer, and if i had my girlfriend with me down there, i would have been a stick in the wheel for my friends.

Thats just a stupid choice.. Take her with you, yes!!! But else, go for you self! World exploring is best when you are young..

Well, if it's friends or partner, and I really cared for my partner, I'd choose her every time over friends, no exceptions. maybe that's just me.

What's the point of relationship if we can't fulfill our dreams together? Or precisely: don't want to.

Certainly that wasn't pleasant. But her urge to go was stronger than the urge to keep the relationship, and there's no point in denying it.

I'm a kind of person that places relationship on the top of the food chain. Nothing is more important. and I suspect it's fair if I sort of require the same from my partner.

If she's a different person, there's no point in continuing the relationship if we can't be the most important thing to each other. Sorry. I have seen enough emotion-less, pointless marriages, where people just live with each other without any common goals or feelings. I think that's pointless. I'd rather be alone than to do something like that.

If my partner thinks otherwise, it would be best for me and her to find a more suitable person.
