@Doubledeck

Probably not but you know how to change that

Armageddon with phoenix cape and 20+ power from a wizard kicks serious @ss. Amusingly though the armour breaking effect triggers for both players so while the magnetic golems are healed they are easier to kill. The gargoyles though are rocks! You *could* use the elemental gargoyles for the elemental boost but in case of armageddon, magic protection artie is heartily recommended Btw there is a turnaround against the fire's armour breaking effect, that's fire protection from the light tree.

@RedEmperor30
I don't have H5 installed anymore due to formatting my pc sometime back. That said.. It has been a long time, I could use a good match Check your HC messenger.

Well just finished a great night duelling!

For the Wiz against the Orcs I only used Dark and MotW with controlling spells (frenz, pup) and was very effective, my Wiz won! Although RedEmp did say he built his Orc badly....still....was great!

Yes, the Armageddon vibe above would rock, but isn't there a reason you left it off the duel map on purpose, balancing issue?

Yes. But frankly, I miss the banned spells, more interesting even at the cost of balance.

Great duel night Emp!

I particularily liked my swift-minded demon hero casting puppet in your Haven Cavs......just shows the flexiblity of this 1.2 duel map where you can have so many different openings, it's replayability is fantastic and never gets boring (hence why we are still playing this even though H6 is out!)

Duelling deck, sounds like Yu-gi-oh

Btw I plan to make a few balance edits like luck giving +50% dmg and morale +30% atb Should make things fairer. And of course return the missing spells, save maybe rune of charge and divine vengeance.

I was like 10 years old when H5 came out so I never got into dueling, but I thought of a potential Sylvan build just because I was bored.

How would this work?
(its adapted for a level 21 hero since apparently that's the max level in duels?)

- Ultimate Avenger, Imbue Arrow, Rain of Arrows in order to deal max damage with imbued spells. Put avenger on the lv4, 5, 6 and 7.

- Expert Destruction, Master of Ice, Cold Death.
Cold Death with Imbue Arrow will help killing the high level stacks with imbued Deep Freeze aswell as incapacite them with the freeze effect.

- Expert Attack, Battle Frenzy, Retribution, Cold Steel.
For max damage. Cold Steel adds +10% additional damage.

- Expert Leadership, Recruitment, Battle Commander, Divine Guidance.
Maybe you could use Divine Guidance to boost your army's iniative while the enemy's most powerful creatures are being frozen by Master of Ice? All the additional low-level troops also benefit from Battle Frenzy.

For destructive overkill try imbued arrows with a quadruple imbued ballista and the archery set. The ballista acts 30% faster and if you also add the freeze effect.. Ofc a rain of meteor followed by 4 ballista meteors can end a game before it even begins, all you need is some luck with druid initiative, maybe get the dragon greaves.. If you do not have the archery set it is best that you have empathy so that your hero plays before the ballista - when the imbued ballista shoots, your hero's turn is reset.

I love cold play (pun intended) so maybe something like this could work with Vinrael and a ballista:

- Advanced Avenger, Imbue Arrow, Rain of Arrows.

- Expert War Machines, Improved Ballista, Tripple Shot, Imbue Ballista.

- Expert Destruction, Master of Ice, Cold Death.

- Advanced Leadership, Diplomacy, Empathy.

- Advanced Enlightenment, Intelligence (starting skills), Wizard's Reward (2 spell power)

I had thought of a bit more exotic build

rain of imbued arrows and triple imbued ballista with expert mass vulnerability (high druids not needed)

how do you think that would work? from what I remember, there really is no counter to vulnerability (except the armored ability)

of course swift mind could help too. not sure if the hero can play before the dragons?

I would prefer using meteor shower with the imbued ballista, with favored enemies too, just think how your hero and ballista can destroy many different stacks at once....(and slippers artifact for 50% bonus on earth spells)

the original idea was for you to use it with Deep Freeze and then move in with your troops which would deal extra damage with the deep freeze effect

I just wanted to vibe with something....

In Heroes V, the morale and luck stat maximise at 5, but is this for the hero stat or the creature stat? I ask because a hero stat could be 5 but a creature stat say 6 for morale.....

runemage...the ins and outs

I think the issue with runemage is the levelling up and how it goes one of 2 ways - it would be great to be able to focus on their speciality - runes and really bolster this, however faced with high moral, attack factions - rune just seems to come up short.

Do you choose to go magic or do you go attack/ defence??

Both. The dwarves are amongst the most adaptable classes, capable of pretty much everything. But unlike necro and academy you are better off with just one magic school and will rarely have the opportunity for a pure destructive caster - though it is awesome when it happens. And that's just as well because one school plus complementary might skills are enough. The runes are just the icing on the cake.

That is the basic idea yes. Even with rune of charge, divine vengeance and armageddon banned they are pretty good. But their gameplay is as complex and unconventional as it can be annoying, they take some getting used to
