Of course.

Gomez, well.
He's played superior in Stuttgart, but never made even one good game in the national team; in his first or second game for the national he missed three chances, he'd have made blindfolded in Stuttgart, and from then on he has struggled.
In Munich, he played well in the preparation, but when he had one not so good game, after the league had started Van Gaal already sorted him out; at that time Munich was experimenting a lot.
When Gomez got his chance again, he took it and played quite strong until he got injured; he's sitting on the bench again for a week now.

So generally I'd say, Germany acknowledges that Gomez is a great scorer, when he is in good shape, but if he's not he can look pretty silly ans awkward, and in the national team he struggles dearly.
Now this MIGHT not be Gomez' fault, since Stuttgart clearly played a system leaving him more room in a 4-4-2 with a different type of attacker at his side than what happens in the national team and in Munich as well.

Personally I'd say that he's a pretty good scorer. He's maybe still missing, what Robben does each week: score decisive goals in decisive games against high-class opponents.

Highlights of the last football week.

ENGLAND

1. United reduce the gap between them and Chelsea to only 1 point with three matches left. Decisive seems the next two matches: Liverpool-Chelsea and United-Tottenham.

2. Tottenham move on the 4th spot, which will allows them to compete in Champions League next season. Man. City fall two point behind on 5th, but have an easier program. The two teams will meet in the last day of the season.

3. Portsmouth earned qualification in the Europa League by reaching the FA Cup final, but it's uncertain whether they will be allowed to compete. Because of their debts, they haven't received their UEFA license for the next season.

2. Norwich secure promotion from League One (3rd tier) to Championship (2nd tier). They haven't been as low as the third league in the last 50 years, so they kinda return to where they belong.

3. Notts County and Rochdale promote from League Two (4th) to League One (3rd tier). County seem a financial paradise at this level, and they might even book their second successive promotion next year.

4. After leading 2-0 until the 80th minute, Arsenal lose 3-2 against Wigan, and are officially out of the title race.

5. Luton Town are finally having a non-relegation season. Yeah, they were never even close to relegate this year, but they went from 2nd tier straight to 5th tier in three years. They might win the play-offs and promote back in the Football League (now they play at semi-amateurs).

6. Newcastle and West Brom were promoted in the Premier League. Old news, tough.

SCOTLAND

1. Celtic throw away their last chance of salvaging a disastrous season, as they lose the Scottish Cup semi against a second league team. This also means there will be a final without Rangers or Celtic for the first time in 5 years.

2. Rangers move extremely close to their 53th title after a win over St. Mirren. The title might be secured in their next match, against Hibernian.

GERMANY

1. Bayern squash Hannover 7-0, and are practically champions of the Bundesliga. Schalke will most likely come second, and join them in the Champions League.

2. Hertha remain with very little chances of avoiding relegation. If they really sold their matches and were implicated in betting fraud, as some suggested, it's high time last year's title contenders start thinking about their future in the Bundesliga.

SPAIN

1. Barcelona cruise towards their second consecutive La Liga trophy, even if they made only a draw against city rivals Espanyol. Real Madrid can move 1 point between their catalan arch-enemies if they win over third-placed Valencia.

FRANCE

1. The table is a mess, because many matches were postponed due to bad weather, but it seems it's Marseille's year.

2. Newly-promoted Montpellier hold there very well, and are on an amazing 4th place (ahead of en-titre champions Bordeaux).

GREECE

1. Panathinaikos won their first title in 6 years. This also mean they will play Champions League football next season.

2. The play-offs are played between Olimpiakos, AEK Athens, PAOK and Aris. So two teams from Athens and two from Thessaloniki. Olimpiakos seem hot favorites to win it and earn a place in the Champions League preliminary rounds.

NETHERLANDS

1. After beating Feyenoord 2-0, Twente are 99% champions of Eredivisie. There is only one match left, and they have one point ahead of second-placed Ajax, and an easy match to play. It would be Twente's first championship since 1926.

2. Ajax won today 4-0, and had their 12th consecutive win in the league. It will all be in vain if NAC Breda can't avoid defeat with Twente. They are still guaranteed to at least play Champions League preliminaries for the first team in two years. Ajax hasn't played in the group stages since 2005.

TURKEY

1. The title now seems to have remained for either Bursaspor or Fenerbahce. I think the canaries will win it, despite being one point behind Bursa.

2. Yes, yet another bad season for Galatasaray.

ROMANIA

1. Like in Turkey, two teams remained to contest the league title: CFR Cluj and my beloved Steaua Bucharest. Cluj are hot favorites, tough.

2. FC Vaslui squash Brasov 4-0 to reach their maiden Romanian Cup final. The final match will be played on their arch-rival's ground, against the last two years winner, CFR Cluj.

3. This year, the Romanian Liga I is certainly the most disputed championship in Europe, and perhaps even in the world. There are only 7 points between the first 6 teams. At the winter break (we are forced to have it because of bad weather), there were three teams tied on the first place. Until a few weeks, there were only 6 points between the first 8 teams. Even the relegation battle is very balanced.

BULGARIA

1. CSKA Sofia will perhaps play their last card against league leaders Litex Lovech, but even if they win they still have little chances.

2. Levski Sofia are having a miserable season. At least they won't show their face in the Champions League preliminaries anymore, allowing teams like Bate Borisov and Debretin free passage in the group stages. It's high time the Bulgarian champion wins the preliminaries.

Ok, so now we have subjects. Discuss.

England: The next round seems decisive for the title race,as both United and Chelsea face strong opponents. It seems that Liverpool,my favorite from here, will not even play in the Champions League next season, but at least they can still win the UEFA Europa League(and they will)
Scotland: Yes,Rangers will surely be champions, but they really need to imrove their performances in European matches.Same goes for the other Scottish teams.
Germany: Bayern have a very good team and they will most likely become champions once again, also they have a chance of reaching the Champions League final this season...
Spain:Well,I'm not quite a fan of Barcelona or Real Madrid, but Barca deserve the championship after outplaying their "galactic" rivals once again.
France: I don't have a favorite team here either, but I guess Marseille will prevail since they are five points ahead, and yes a nice surprise from the promoted Montpellier, somewhat reminds me of Hoffenheim last season in Germany.
Italy: Inter won the "Derby d'Italia" against the disappointing Juventus, but AS Roma won the derby of Rome against Lazio this evening and nudged back into first place,so it's still a close title race.Milan are out of it for good.I go with Roma for no apparent reason,I'm just bored with Inter winning all the time
Greece: After five consecutive championships won by Olympiakos, time has come for Panathinaikos to shine again. Not so surprising since after all PAO did knock out AS Roma from the Europa League by winning in Rome, they have a good team.
Netherlands: I think I like more how Ajax play, but then again only the final results matter, not by how many goals you win.I hope Ajax will return to the Ch.League group stage next year after a long absence. If Twente win the league it's another upset after AZ Alkmaar last year.
Turkey: It would be a huge performance for a team like Bursaspor to win the title, but Fener are hot on their trail.I hope Galata can still snatch the second place,it's not lost yet.
Bulgaria: It's time for Litex to shine after the domination of Levski and CSKA in the last years.I hope they'll do well in the Champions league qualifiers too.
And last but not least Romania: It's a great night for me as a fan of Rapid Bucharest, after the win against Steaua ( sorry,Zamfir). The funny thing is that Steaua are still fighting for the title, while we might(again!)  miss going into the Europa League next season. That's my Rapid

It was a miserable night for Steaua. We got nuked 5-1 by city rivals Rapid Bucharest, so we can kiss the title good-bye.

That Sapunaru should have gotten a red card, and there are also a few referee decision I can't agree with. We have no excuse, tough. I swear I NEVER EVER saw Steaua lose by that big a margin, not even when we got demolished by Real Madrid or Bayern. This might be Steaua's biggest lose in the championship in this decade.

And the worst part is that my best friend is a Rapid fan. He went to the match today and now he'll annoy for the entire week. Damn. Just damn.

EDIT: If any non-Romanian cares, here are the highlights. Rapid in burgundy, Steaua in red'n'blue.

Levski and CSKA, both - Sofia, are having bad times, while Levski is still having problem thanks to it's owner, CSKA is full of crazy scandal (like Orlin Orlinov, who was maltreating physicaly his girlfriend, or the romanian trainer who left the team - and I fully unredstand him, a good trainer must not risk his good name with CSKA nowdays). Most likely Litex (Lovech) is the new champion of Bulgaria, and since they are uber weak, I expect some new humiliation in the qualifications.

Completely random, not very well documented but:
Inter and Barcelona are teams whose best players are from Argentina. I think Argentina, after a hard time to qualify now have won the spirit of the people and after impressive champions league performance have players that'll take the WC 2010. Also as it shifts between European and South American winner every 4th year, it should be either Brazils or Argentinas turn this time around.

I hope it's going to be a european team though, I'd really like to change that statistic of ever since (56?) the WC championship has shifted between Europe and South America.

Just wanted to comment that french team was like its shadow yesterday and therefore was easily owned by Bayern.
Olic's hat-trick made it 0-3.

Seems we'll have interesting match tonight. Any bets? Barca? Inter? Who'll make it?

Barcelona are capable of scoring many goals.  However, each goal Inter score means Barcelona have to score more and more.  I feel Inter will go through and also beat Bayern in the final.

I can't wait to watch it with my friend today.

I also guess on Inter, I think the match of today will be the match that "decides it" (though of course Bayern can still win).

I think it'll be 4-3 to Barca or something like that, maybe 4-2, then they'd be kicked out like Real Madrid was vs. Monaco, in the last season of the former galacticos team:

1st match Real Madrid - Monaco, it was 4-1 until very late, when Morientes scored and made it Real - Monaco 4-2

2nd match Monaco - Real Madrid, Real got in from 1-0, then in second half I believe, Morientes scored and it ended Monaco - Real Madrid 3-1.
I'll see if I can find a link to the statistics.

Edit: here they are, first Real Madrid - Monaco 4-2
http://www1.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/matches/season=2003/round=1714/match=1062124/prematch/index.html
Notice how it went from Real - Monaco 0-1 to Real - Monaco 4-1 finally to Real - Monaco 4-2

So the 1-0 lead in Madrid was the only lead Monaco had, and at 4-1 it really looked like Monaco would be a walkover for mighty Madrid.

Oh well on to the second match:
Monaco - Madrid 3-1
http://www1.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/matches/season=2003/round=1714/match=1062128/prematch/index.html
Like I remembered it, notice how Real gets in fron 1-0, in total now leading 5-2! Yet Monaco manages to come back, scoring 3 goals, thouguh they never ever take the lead in total again after their 1-0 lead, and in principle being down both 4-1 and 5-2, they manage to go through with a 5-5 score!

It really shows how odd outfield goals are, one could imagine this scenario:

A - B 2-1

B - A, B leads 1-0 and are now going to qualify. A draws to 1-1, in total A then is in lead with +1 and is going to qualify. Now B takes the lead 2-1 again, and it's in total a draw, as both teams have scored an equal amount of goals. Finally A scores, going through, and now B must score twice! Before being able to go through.

Which means it went from, in the perspective of B: First goal meant we'd go through, if both teams scored again, it's only a draw (eventhough an equal amount of goals have been made) and if both teams scores once again, team A will go through (eventhough again, an equal amount of goals have been made).

So going from 1-0 to 3-2 is going from win to loose, which seems rather extreme. Though I think it's something that adds to the game, because it makes teams wanting to make many goals. (Though the boring 0-0 on homefield seems to be something many teams are satisfied with, going for a 1-1 on outfield).

Your forecasts is with quite many goals. I think there will be less or equal then 3 goals in the match. Mourinho is mature twister, he can build defence skillfully. Though we all know there is one player playing for Barcelona, who can cope with it .

Barcelona - Inter 1:0 and Inter goes to the Final.
Incredible and stressful match. As predicted we saw only 1 goal and that is only consolation for Barcelona. This match showed us beauty of defence, real fan undersand it. Even Eto'O played as a mere left defender half of match, and did his job well. Hosts had two few chances during the match which is very strange for current Barcelona and I think this is merit of Mourinho.
Strong attack wins particular matches, organized defence wins whole tournaments.

Jose Mourinho is often annoying with his arrogance, but he certainly knows his stuff when it comes to organising his team...
I hope Bayern Munchen will outclass Inter in the final,I've never liked the nerazzuri that much and personally would have liked to see a final between Barcelona and Bayern.Too bad Franck Ribery will be absent from the Bayern team, although Bayern may win the appeal to reduce his three-match ban...
