Inter last won this trophy 45 years ago, they used to be the most successful Italian team in Europe a few centuries ago.

Perhaps it's their turn, but I can't stand them. Bayern for the CL!

From what I saw in the first leg Bayern have enough to win the 2-leg tie.  United look like starting with a fast young midfield and have Rooney up top.  Those are good choices so it is tough to call.

I see Barcelona winning the whole thing because they are the best team.  They keep the ball for most of the game.

I'm dissapointed that Real Madrid and Barcelona didn't get to meet eachother in CL.

Those types of dream teams (collecting the best players of the world on few teams) only last for a very short time (due to age and wage), which means those teams might be dream teams for something like 2-4 season more, and then I suppose that's it.

(Barcelona would not be such a dream team now, if their own players had not shown they could perform even without ronaldinho, so Barcelona escaped the tragedy that happened to the galacticos, but will they escape once more?)

Good thing they are playing each other in the league on this weekend then.

It determines the destination of the Spanish league title this year.  A very important game imo.

Sure it is 'important', but it is more 'important' for spanish people, than foreigner, in general, I believe. I am probably only going to watch it to see the great players show the best the world can offer.

Had it been a CL game, heck a CL finale, they'd not only be playing for the championship of Spain, but the championship of Europe.

Though one would probably then think I'd think the WC for club teams (brazilian team in final against a european team, most often), would be most 'important', but I don't, because the difference of economy (european teams can buy the best from the other continents) and skill (again due to economy most often), simply makes it rather pointless.

Like it'd be pointless, in my opinion. The key term is lack of competition I suppose.

Congratulations to all Bayern fans.
Though I think when Rafael got second yellow, Ribery was the one who deserved it more.
After this moment it was not very hard to a team with such class as Bayern, even against MU to control running match and squeeze out needed goal.

I think this game had quite a similar script as the first one.

ManU took the lead, thought everything is done, and stepped back.

But it seems they forgot Lineker's famous words: "Football is a game of 22 people and 1 ball, and in the end, the Germans will win!"

Or like another international player (forgot who it was) said: You can be sure you have won against a german football team, when BOTH teams went back to the changing rooms and you still have scored 1 more goal

Anyway two decisive factors yesterday IMO:
Olic's goal and Rafael's red.

Let's not forget Robben, who - I suppose - will make Real's fans and officials wonder why they sold him in the first place. If it wasn't for Robben, Bayern Munich wasn't anywhere this season.

At 3-0 for ManU I thought it was all over, but Bayern proved me wrong.I'm expecting a final between Bayern and Barcelona, though Inter aren't bad either. And as for Lyon,I know they've knocked out Real Madrid, but I don't see them capable of reaching the final.

If he can do a goal like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bwtg5qjoMY

some 20 minutes into overtime in a semifinal game (he played from the start), there isn't much he can't do, is there?

Whether the second goal yesterday was unavoidable or not, it feels like the 20th time Robben scored the decisive goal for Bayern this season.

I have been told that Real Madrid did percieve Robben as a player of sufficient quality by far to play for them, however they needed stability in that period and Robben, due to his many injuries, were thereby, independent of his high skill, not very useful for them.

I am surprised that Lyon defeated Bordeaux. Bordeaux are not only the french champions, but also the current leading team in France.

I find it alo a bit surprising, isn't this the exact same Bayern team that two seasons ago were huge farvorite to win the Uefa Cup, but lost against Zenit, 5-1 or 4-0 away, and last season got a huge beating by Barcelona in the CL?

Ohforf said it right - Robben is fast and skilled, but too many injuries. Even in Bayern he missed matches because of that, yes?
But when he plays - together with Ribery they make Bayerns flanking attacks one of the best in Europe.

I suppose, since Robben has so many 1-1 situations he's simply fouled pretty often, and sometimes hard.
Anyway, no it's not the same team that lost 4-0 to Barca. Half the team is new, Robben, Gomez, Olic, Müller, Pranjic, Badstuber; Van Buyten didn't have the standing he deserves, then, and some players couldn't play due to cards or bad health, among them, I think, Ribery and Toni.

Edit: No, I checked. Ribery and Toni played, Klose was injured, Lahm didn't play either, and both Lucio and Van Buyten were injured as well, leaving Munich with a pretty weak defensive line.

You left out one HUGH difference between those games:

It's certainly a difference, but whether it's a hugh one, I'm not so sure. When Bayern was demolished by Zenith, Hitzfeld was coach, and I daresay that Hitzfeld is or has been a top coach.

The main difference between Klinsmann und van Gaal as a coach is, that Klinsmann is no coach and never coached a team before. He was more like a supervising coordinator and motivator - without experience and succeses.

Van Gaal on the other side, has his very special views on things, like Klinsmann, however, he has shown that he can coach a team to titles. He has shown as well, that he is the dogged type, who can lead a team into desaster as well: not qualifying with the Netherlands for the WC 2002 has to be considered as a personal failure, even though I may add, that in Germany, as Bayern cach, this may be viewed as a succes as well.

Anyway, Klinsmann or Van Gaal, this season is still rather open, and as I said in the forum of my favorite soccer team, which is NOT Bayern Munich, they still have all chances to draw equal with Bayer Leverkusen's record to lose THREE titles in ne year, either in the final or in the last match.
At this stage of the season there is the big danger for Munich, that they overrate themselves. They have a very, very tough match on he weekend, that might lose them the title; everyone expects them to walk over Lyon straigt into the final - losing out in the semi would be a big disappointment despite the fact that semi as such is great. And he Cup-final, who cares? It's a title sure, but, well...

So let's just wait and see just what happens further.

What is the attitude toward Gomez in Germany?

About the game, I knew Rafael would get sent off when he got the first yellow card for a stupid retaliation foul.  Ribery was good at keeping possession in the corner after they went ahead.

What are United playing at leaving Rooney on when he clearly couldn't run?

JJ, nice Robben video.  I suppose he got a yellow card for taking his shirt off?
