@Master_Learn

Thank you for reporting a problem and for uploading the saved game.

With a saved game which will produce the problem, I can try changes and see whether they make the problem better or worse, until the problem is fixed.  So the saved game must be at a point before the problem occurs, but also at a point where the problem can be made to occur by specific actions.  In this case I took the required actions to be:  fight a battle using Gem, and use her First Aid Tent to heal/resurrect her creatures.

Unfortunately, I have no real progress to report, just some miscellaneous information:

The game file does not work for me under WoG 3.58f (since it was saved under Era or some other form of WoG 3.59).  I have two Heroes systems which use Era 1.8.  One of them is heavily modified, and under that system, I had problems in battle which culminated in a crash of Windows 7 to a blue screen.  In my second, older Era 1.8 system which is not as heavily modified, the game seems to run okay, but after a dozen battles I have not had any transformed creatures among Gem's troops after a battle.

This may be because my fighting style is different than yours and I am omitting some action which you do in your battles, or it may be that your problem is a result of modifications that have been made to the system you are playing under, which interfere with the map in some way.

I looked at the game file with a hex editor.  It is not the very latest version (which is available at http://www.box.net/shared/bj1eh6b50e), but it has all the changes which were made to fix previous problems with transformed creatures.

I have begun to analyse the War Machines script, which adds special abilities to First Aid Tents.  This script at times changes the First Aid Tent stack from type 147 to type 173 (Santa Gremlin), but then changes it back after a healing action.  The First Aid stack does not have a troop slot number, so even if it was not changed back before a battle ends, it should not show up in Gem's troop slots.

This map was developed and tested, and played by thousands of people (mostly in China) under WoG 3.58f.  Therefore, WoG 3.58f is the best system to use when playing it.  I have seen cases where Heroes modifications (mods) introduced errors which affected certain maps.  I don't know whether that is the cause of your problems, but so far that is the best guess I can offer.

Thank you for trying to help,JimV and for pointing to the last version of the map, which I may later try.

In my case under WoG3.58 doesnt want to start the game(gives me too many errors in the beginning-its like the hundreds of time you have to press enter when reaching above 108 level),so I tried the Terry Pratchets mode and more important-the game starts for me only under TPM in russian language!!!

I play paralelly with all the colours and as a beginner in this map I gather money through sea battle in the early months, but this means for me later trouble with the longer battles I have to fight.

Thats why I read in this thread the very useful comments from you, Salamandre and other players that share how to prevent unpleasant results of useless tactic or stategy!
Be well and enjoy fixing and playing!

By playing under WoG 3.58 I mean with only those modifications which are included with the TDS.rar package.  That is, a system created as follows:  start with Heroes 3 The Shadow of Death or Heroes 3 Complete, install WoG 3.58f from allinon1_WoG.zip, using English as the language, then extract TDS.rar into that folder and run the update program.  There are no error messages when starting a game of TDS under such a system - but the game is in English.  Aleee was working on a Russian translation of the game, the last I knew - I don't know if he has finished it.

Game

Hey Valery hey Jim I just started this map on 200% dificulty with x4 Neutrals. Right now i'm in m:1 w:3 d:6 and this game is geting harder and harder as it seems Xarfar is unbeatable at the moment as he have 81 SAA as a 2nd henchman(I think its normal for this difficulty no?) but anyway he is a little buggy-if he is on water and no hero in range to attack he won't move and if there is one he moves step by step. Until now my area isn't fully defeated as I have 2 stacks of Mighty Gorgons which won't let me pass now. Also I saw that my SAA can't ressurect anymore-I just want to know if it is a bug as I can live without their ressurection as I got ressurection in Xarfar's town. Also is balistics useful for Lord Haart?

Xarfax is ridiculous strong I know. Without death stare on commander I don't know if he is beatable early. He moves weird because his radius is restricted, and be happy because of that
Most creatures on the map are random so if I get mighty gorgons in choke points, I would restart. SAA has no resurrect problems so far.
Ballistic is the weakest specialty, I agree. It shines very early, then shades for ever. But is compensated by SAA, best creature in Heroes.

I am not an expert in playing this game, having finished it once, as Orrin (Tan), and having defeated all the AI's but not finished the game (yet) as The Doctor (Pink).  In both cases I used 200% difficulty with neutral creature doubling.  So others may have better wisdom, but I will give my thoughts.

I think this game makes it very difficult for the AI players to determine any strategy.  They are surrounded by vast numbers of creatures, and are not aware (internally) of the special properties of their leaders and Henchmen.  Also, the game goes well beyond the normal numbers which Heroes III was designed and tested for.  To compensate for this, they are given powerful creatures once a battle begins, and the human player is forced to defeat them all in order to satisfy quest conditions.  So if they will not come to you, you must go to them.

I don't recall having Supreme Arch Angle Second Henchmen lose the ability to resurrect in my games.  It may be that giving them one of the special properties negates the Resurrection ability, but I see no mention of this in the scripts.  There are special properties which an opposing Henchman may have which will limit your ability to resurrect your fallen creatures, however.

Ballistics skill is key to some of Lord Haart's special abilities.  Without it I could not fight my way out of his home territory at the start of a game.  Later on in the game, it will less important as Lord Haart gains other sources of battle strength.

Ressurection and Balistics

The ressurection was solved I just had to check that SAA may cast spells (He was 1st henchman by the way),anyway im still in m1 w1 d6(I've waited your opinions)because the game offered me to choose if I accept balistics as a secret skill and I wanted to know if it adds some dmg to the Balista(The one with high power not the one with fireball) as this balista is a very big dmg dealer with pala's bless(2 towns no bless )

EDIT: Oh srry my mistake I wanted to say about artilery

Well, it depends of player's goal. The map is not so obvious to pass through, as there are many hidden things and the story does not say what to do precisely. Myself, I clean the starting area for fast leveling and get out, then head straight to the Battle academy where I park one hero and get all commander artefacts. Then level a bit the commander so he becomes a lvl 7 killer, then go for AI mains. Then I get the water walk scroll and start to scratch the monsters guarding the force field. Then go for emerald towers and palace of dreams, then map is over, as from that point, nothing can kill you anymore.

Well it's easy to say to clean your starting area but its really hard especially with Gorgons guarding the 2 red borders(there were the titans also but they weren't such a big harm as the gorgons were, well until now when they are legions

I don't see where is the problem: take the water path. I am often out day 4-5 and can't afford fighting those lords of thunder, thus I take the seas.

For those who want to play with the neutral-creatures-quadrupling option but find it excessively difficult, a new map version has been added to TDS.rar at  http://www.box.net/shared/bj1eh6b50e - the map name is "The Dragon Slaughter 2.07Dr", where the Dr is the English abbreviation of Doctor (Pink leader).  Also, the other two versions have been modified slightly to correct misleading information in the hint text for the Sorcery Specialization.

The background is that I recently discovered that the standard Sorcery Specialization ("5% increase of the Sorcery Skill bonus per level") does not work in TDS, because of a conflict with the Enhanced Sorcery Skill in the Enhanced Secondary Skills script.  That script uses a technique of negative skill values (which is not documented in the English WoG 3.58f Help) to increase the standard Sorcery skill bonuses of 5%, 10%, and 15% to 10%, 20%, and 30%.  Also, as a special case, it doubles the values again for The Doctor (20%, 40%, and 60%).  With this change in effect, my tests indicate that the Sorcery Specialization does not work.  That is, with Expert Sorcery The Doctor always gets a damage bonus of 60%, regardless of his Hero Level.  In other words, the Sorcery Specialization is useless in this map.  I have revised the specialization hint text to make this clear.

Then, since this seemed unfair to The Doctor (to have a useless Specialization), I made a new version in which the enhanced Sorcery Skill is not applied to The Doctor, so that his specialization will work.  I also boosted the effect to a 500% increase in the Sorcery Skill damage bonus per level.

Why did I pick this number (which is negotiable, if there are objections)?  Because at Hero Level 100, this will give The Doctor an effective bonus equivalent to Level 10,000, which (as far as I know), will make the Doctor the most powerful Sorcerer of all time (for a standard WoG 3.58f map using standard 3.58f ERM without any hacking), surpassing the previous record of about 6500.  I was already planning to do this in a new map, but then it occurred to me that the map and Hero most deserving of this honor would be "The Dragon Slaughter" and The Doctor.

With this power (which is only enabled if the "Leader of the human player gets a starting bonus" option is selected), I can clear out The Doctor's territory of quadrupled neutral creatures in about two game days.  Of course, some creatures have magic resistance or immunities, and as time goes on and creatures advance to experience level 10, there will be more such creatures; also the Commanders of the AI Heroes will have magic resistance.  But I don't think a time will ever come when an Implosion or Meteor Shower spell will be useless to The Doctor in all battles, and he will be reduced to only using Slow and Bless, like a common hedge-wizard.

That is as it should be, because in the TV series the Doctor uses technical magic, not brute force, to solve problems.

Well 3k Nagas and 1k Titans blocked my way. So I started a new game with
Xarfar,it's m:2 w:1 d:5 and I just defeated Gem(Lord Haart defeated in the first month).
My Henchmans are Banshee lvl 19 and Angel lvl 12.
Could you tell me at which lvl it becomes AA and SAA?

(This indicates the Heroes program is displaying an error message, which you can't see due to the black screen at the start of battle, and it is waiting for you to click "okay" or press Enter.  To see the error message, use the Windows key plus "D" to switch to the Desktop, then switch back into Heroes by clicking on the reduced WoG icon on the taskbar.  This will remove the black screen.)

I have played the new version for many battles (to where The Doctor is at Level 30) without ever seeing this, so you might be using options which I don't use, or perhaps are running under a different system.  I check the "Leader of the human player gets starting bonus" option near the bottom of the first menu, and leave all other menu items at their default settings.  For Neutral Creatures I selected quadrupling.

If you can upload a saved game which has your problem I will look at it and see if I can find where some other option which you have selected is interfering with it.

My other guess is that you are running under Era and that Era is warning about some ERM procedure is accepted under WoG 3.58f but not under Era.  This is one reason why I have not deleted my Heroes 3/WoG 3.58f folder, and why I am maintaining the ERM Help for WoG 3.58f, separately from the new WoG 3.59 ERM Help.

(There are of course other possibilities, such as a corrupted file download, or some mistake on my part which switched files, but those two possibilities seem most likely to me--from afar, without being able to observe your system directly.)

I am sorry you had this problem.  With all the modifications to Heroes which are currently available, it is becoming difficult to check out ERM scripts for all possible systems.

Thanks for your reply, Here is a save with only starting bonus for leader the rest are default:

As it turns out, the problem was entirely my own fault, for which I apologize.  I made a last-minute change which affected the Henchman, then played the game for a couple of battles with the change but forgot to buy a Henchman. (I am in the habit of waiting until I can get a Storm Elemental to use as my Henchman, as I like to have a shooter.)

The current version at http://www.box.com/shared/bj1eh6b50e has this error corrected.  Thanks for discovering it, although I am sorry for the time you had to waste doing so.

Bug

Hi Jim while I was playing your version with The Doctor I've found out a bug. I made and angel as 2nd Henchman from a Pheonix and in it's first battle he had stats like this:

That is an added bonus effect of the Sorcery Specialization enhancement.  I noticed and have decreased the effect in the current version at box.net, which I uploaded two or three hours ago, but you had already downloaded the previous version.

The Second Henchman has never done much for me in my play.  I use it mainly to resurrect Phoenixes which have used up all their rebirths, once the Angel Second Henchman becomes an Arch Angel at level 10.

I see now that the Hulk (Teal) has an enhanced Offense skill, which probably negates his Hero Specialization of Offense.  I am thinking of also removing this enhancement, but replacing it with a 50% increase in his Offense skill bonus per level, and putting this into the 2.07Dr version.  Then the Hulk could probably also handle quadrupled creatures.  On the other hand, perhaps I have gone too far already.
