Go back to page 1 of this thread and read GEM's special ability - or use the Help Menu in the game itself.

There is nothing wrong with your game version or saved game that I can see.  Salamandre could not play it because he no longer has a WoG 3.58f installation, and it is a WoG 3.58f game.  If you want to know what Era is, read the separate thread about it at this forum.

Ok .. there really is something wrong with this map version on my game version. I restarted the game and did a super fast right down the middle run towards Hell .. i got there in the 6-th day on the first week , gues what .. still 80 archangels (Dif:Imposible, 200% all other options are default i think)
also I cant use Hill Fort it tells me that my Angels are already upgraded, i cant upgrade them to Archangels i uploaded the save for anyone that wants to try and look at it but i will be dl-ing a new game version. I hope it workes if not i will have to find an older map version to try < at least i know that Hill Fort worked there

Getting the 80 would be consistent with selecting the highest difficulty from the first menu (Creature and AI power).  Recall that at creature doubling (not quadrupling) and 20% AI strength growth, I got 48 Supremes on day 6 and 49 on day 13.  You have gotten 80 on days 6 and 14.  What happens is that within six days, Xarfax has mostly cleaned out all the neutral gangs in his territory and gotten to a high level.  Those gangs started on day 1 at quadruple (4x) size, so that gave him a lot of experience.  In my runs, the creature bands started on day 1 at double size, so he did not get as much experience.

You are playing at a difficulty setting (creature numbers quadruple on days 1, 8, 15, etc.) which is intended to be impossible for all but the best players.  Live with it (or die with it).

There is an intentional difference between Angels and Arch Angels (High Angels) in this map.  The basic plot is that an Angel has stolen the Angel Wings so that the Arch Angels cannot fly.  This part of the plot centers on Lord Haart and may only be in effect when Red is played (I think so).

The ghost dwelling was surely added for the highest difficulty. You can not defeat Xarfax  super henchmen without a bunch of them. Or let him live, defeat others, visit the emerald towers and get deadly damage on our main creature, but is much longer.

Or defeat the ogres (5-6 consecutive battles with only henchman/commander, quick sand and sorrow combo-if very early-), get force field and attack Xarfax with only commander with no retal, death stare, max speed (you need the boots early) and antimagic on. He will run before the end, but it is enough the get the quest validated. Anyway, getting force field is the first step to take 2 emerald towers out of 3. For the enchanters you will need raw strength + 6 supreme phoenix with max revive/clone.

That was basicly my plan on dealing with him. The Sand/Sorrow/ No Retal combo .. Still working on how to get the emerald towers the best way. Btw Does the creatures infront of the tower reset each time you go there ? can you kill them a little bit at the time  ? Also i still have not tried the max revive on the phoenix i need ring of magi for it right ?

It is cool if he is supose to have that many that early , althou he has not cleared all his creep around the city, but i dont care how strong he is i think i can handle one and the think with Angels explains the other things so i can just sty on my current vercion and work with it i dl-ed ERA and will take a look at it on a later day thou .. just to get what is the deal about it  

If you recomend something , like maps ets. ets i will try them sometime (am also reading the rest of the forum but slowly

The sorrow/quick sand/slow combo works on 5 out of 7 ogress stack. Two of them will always have immunity to mind and fly, if I recall right, thus they must be eliminated first. For max Phoenix revive you need only max experience. And buy a clone ability for them before attacking the enchanters, so they are blocked.

Creatures do not respawn if reduced, so you can use hit&run until you defeat them.In general I don't have the patience to wait until I have enough power and I use a lot hit&run early. Mostly because the map gets a bit boring after a while, monsters everywhere, battles similar. After I get water walk, 2 emeralds and academy (is that the name?) then I can wait, time is worth.

But I NEVER played it at highest difficulty, as you do. It requires too many reloads/restarts on first week and kills the fun. (for me at least).

Well i try to do it with only 5-7 reloads on the first day, after that i safe only once a day and after the first week once a week ... it sometimes backfires ofcorse and i cant finish teh map succsesfully with all the Heroes yet but i am gething better at outsmarting the odds and gething good a win .. still it has been a couple of months sice i first found the map and even thou i dont play every day and no more than an hour or two i still find things challenging

It recalls me the endless threads where people whine about AI being stupid. Only answer: play once a map without any reload, as AI does. Of course, it does not apply to TDS, being one hell of map, but in general. Of course AI is pitiful if each time he gets morale or you miscalculated present forces, you jump on reload.

I am thankful for Salamandre and Vogan explaining and doing so much for the map to be more player-friendly!Its important for novices in this map like me,who play as usual at 200%,but cant(at least for now)
play past the difficulty of 10% grouth(5% artefact).

I suppose the editor Salamandre uploaded will be helpful for me later if a problem occur(at least I will try the editor first before posting a saved game).No problem for now.

Are there any english sites that offer tips of strategy and tactics with the 8 main heroes on this map?
I mean for those many who dont know chinese and are trying to play,guessing what tictics is good and what tactics is bad...
I know that playing is the way to get experienced in the map,but I am a little bit sad about the many reloads I have to make to avoid big losses in troops.

Defiance map

Hi !
Do you by any chance have the map Defiance from heroes 3 wog ? i`ve been searching like crazy and cant seem to find it. Its the one when mutare drake and dracon play as allies agains gelu, killgore etc. ! P.S: Sry if im posting in the wrong thread.

No, there aren't. TDS has its own pattern, and some regular strategies, as building secondary heroes will not work here early. But they will jump from level 1 to level 40 in one turn later, when they can use improved creatures. Just a matter of patience, if you manage well your commander and henchman you can go a few months in. From there, you need to visit the boost structures, or you can't continue with those only two.

A thumb rule is to get all commander artefacts as early as possible, or you lose your time fighting. The neutrals grow stronger every x days, and only those artefacts can cover the difference.

Hi. I have noticed that the doctor's summon elementals specialty also works on clones. In that case hitpoints for summoning seem to be

min(damage done to clone, clone's total hitpoints)

There is some potential for abuse, though I guess it's not even close to using ghosts. You still need to find a big stack of something that spawns clones, blind it or make it harmless in any other way. You also need to have a stack that deals good damage and, on top of it, remember that clones' hitpoints aren't multiplied by scripts.

@sercon: I don't know this map, but you could try ByteBandit's map archives (check this thread) if you haven't done so already. If it's not there, you could try posting in that thread, since there are already people searching for maps there.

Thanks for your advice,Salamandre!From here in the thread I find many other posts useful when playing the map!
I am curiuos also if the healing bugs can be avoided?
I mean sometimes when a stack is killed and I wait or defend with my first aid tent and then ressurect the stuck,the healing seems to be done automatically and I find that my tents become with signature of santa gremlins or catapults! And after the fight one of my stucks is replaced by santa gremlins for example.

Am I to pay attention and not allow that to happen or is there a way of generraly fixing the healing bugs?

If you will upload a saved game from just before the bug occurs (to wikisend.com or some other place) and publish the URL here so I can download it, I will look at the game and try to debug it.  Also, if you are not playing the latest debugged version I can replace older scripts (I think) using Bersy's DEE utility.

If by signature you mean the popup window of stack properties which is shown (if you select it in Battle Options) when the mouse pointer is over one of your stacks, this is not changeable except by removing the new ability of the stack, because the way the stack is given its unusual ability (e.g., a First Aid Tent which can cast Resurrect or a catapult which can shoot Fireballs) is by an ERM script which changes the creature type (BM:T, see ERM Help document) to that of a creature which has the property.  E.g., to give a creature the ability to cast a spell, its creature type may be changed to Santa Gremlin.  However, the creature type must be changed back to its original value before the end of the battle, or the battle stack will be converted to a troop slot of the changed creature type.  A couple bugs of this sort have already been reported and fixed, but your case may be a new one.

I am not sure what you mean by healing done automatically (but this might become clear from a saved game).  If you are playing as GEM (Blue), this is one of her special abilities.  (She casts Expert Cure automatically, with some randomness.)

I will be grateful and honoured if you help me,JimV!

First I have to write down these two things-
The bugs happen only if I have first aid tent(s) in the battle and use healing from the tent(s) in the same time with the ressurection spell-I mean when my stack is destroyed and the tent wants to heal anything and all the other stacks are healthy and I ressurect the stack,then the name of the first aid tent changes.After that change I dont know what else happens- only sometimes -so the result becomes stack replaced with santa gremlins...

The second thing-I am more of a newbie or just not willing to read many and many topics of wog forums,so I dont know where my saved game is...Yes,I feel a little bit ashamed.But my saved directory is empty and if the game can be found in my .lod files or other files that I have,I just dont know where to look for it.

Would you point to me in what part of the forum I have to read how to find my saved game?Then when I find it,I will upload it,so you try it.

And yes,I try with Gem to play and she have first aid tent in all the battles!

By saved directory I mean the games folder that in my case of Era with TPM installed is empty...

Its not a save after a battle with santa gremlins replacing stack in the army,but in my opinion every battle engaged may finish with stack replaced.

If necessary,I will try to do a battle and receive replaced stack and then upload save.
