Evaline said: HD mod isn't related to DD distance. If You want to increase then do it by reverse ingeneering and without HD mod.
Ah, finally a useful post, that's what I suspected in the first place.
The F5 menu is kinda misleading as I thought it somehow allowed to change the max range in-game.
I'd still like to hear a confirmation from the mod creator that this is indeed a hardcoded H3 feature and not something that could be tackled from within a mod. Said HD mod certainly has many features altering fundamental elements of the game so I assumed max DD range was just a minor variable somewhere and I just missed it.
On a side note, I've been using cheat engine for years, I don't really give a damn about using it for single player games, as long of course as I'm not comparing results with other players. Since I never do that, the case is closed.
Warmonger said: There are certain game rules imposed on player and they won't change. You won't be able to teleport further with higher resolution the same way you won't be able to do more damage with spells in higher resolution.
Ah but you're jumping several steps ahead - one could argue that DD teleportation was restricted in range due to limitations of GUI. The spell itself however, could in theory work on much bigger distances as nothing within the game indicates anything to the contrary. You can teleport over the map's diagonal with town portal at half the cost of single DD cast and virtually non-existent movement cost and yet you can't even go a quarter of the way with DD? That doesn't stick.
Also, comparing higher resolution's impact on teleportation range with damage is a very poor argument as these are unrelated.
Anyway, I'm not really here to argue the finer points of HoMM magic system or the viability of any claims (or lack thereof) related to it.
In my book of PC gaming, fun comes first, rules and limits come second, but I understand people often have a different outlook. Whatever makes you happy.

Calm down, there's not really anything to argue about. Seems like we just had a bad start here, caught each other on the wrong foot.
Conclusion: HD mod doesn't alter the behaviour of dimension door compared to the original version and there's no option to alter it.
Maybe there's another mod or possibility to achieve that, but like Galaad said, that has nothing to do with HD mod.
Keep on happy gaming

Town Portal requires you to control the destination town, however .
But anyway, you don't seem to object to using a cheat engine for your own experience, so why don't you use a cheat like "nwcnebuchadnezzar"? Along with the Fly spell, you can move just about anywhere. Or does such a thing go too far, as it provides unlimited movement (well, not unlimited, but enough to cover the entire map multiple times over)?

DD range is hardcoded. Only in ERA wog you could find a work around by using a key to simulate dimension door then teleport at cursor position

Somehow nebuchadnezzar makes the game boring while DD doesn't, at least for me. Currently I'm playing on a smaller screen (roughly 1300x800) and I thought it would be nice if I could use the entire viewable space for DD destination, it's not that much more than the regular area.
If it was indeed 3k/3k I would have probably felt like it's boring too but with the resolutions I'm talking about, I don't think so.
Anyway, since it's hardcoded in the game engine, I guess I'll have to live with that. I don't feel like rev-enging the executable, did that once for another game a long time ago and it wasn't worth it.

I know this has been asked before, but I couldnt find the answer. Is the sim turns something that might be expanded to more than 2 human players?
Is this possible?

Hey there,
I got a minor problem with the HD-mod, however, it's driving me crazy for quite a lot of time now... I was wondering if anyone could help me on this issue...
I'm missing the detailed hero information when you hold right click on a hero at the "pre-game screen". I mean when you choose your faction / hero / bonus, like in this screenshot:
When I first played the HD mod (like a year ago maybe) I remember that it was shown as it should but at some point it just didn't show me the additional information on the heroes.
I searched all tweaks and tested a lot with various changes and I also looked up a lot of threads and posts on this forum but nothing helped and it kinda bothers me a lot... >.< So I now hope you guys could help me.
I'm playing the Heroes 3 Complete version in english, in case it matters.
Kind regards,
Avernus

You can only see this info in random map generator (rmg) for custom maps, map maker might have altered the heroes, making the information about heroes wrong.

Thank you a lot, Sir! Is there anyway to change this, so that it always shows this information? I like playing the standard maps like "Peaceful Ending", "Golems aplenty", etc. and I dont have any custom made maps, so I could rely on the fact, that the heroes are "untouched" and the information about them is accurate.
Kind regards,
Avernus

I don't know how to change it.
But can't you just check the heroes first in rmg?
I pretty much know all heroes skills and specialities by now, so it's just a matter of playing the game "enough", then you don't even need that info anymore.

Yeah, I could just check it before. Guess I will do it like this then.
I play HoMM3 since Shadows of Death got released here in Germany. Sure, I didn't spend every day playing it, but I would still think that I played it for more like 5000 hours.
But since I played only the same factions for quite a while, I'm struggling on the heroes of the other factions.
Thank you for your help. :>
Kind regards,
Avernus

Thanks for sharing, I hadn't noticed this new beta. I'm super excited that Bara is making progress on supporting more than 2 players. Good job, Bara/rest of the team invovled.
Currently, when you end your turn and there's multiple other players still active with their turn, you'll only see one flag colour in the status window. Like, red will only see blue even when, say, brun is also still active. I'm just wondering how they will fix this. There's many solutions in teory. The window could show multiple, smaller flags. Or there could be created a new flag that could represent all other players. It also be done with small diamonds like in Age of Wonder. Or maybe the timers could be used soly to tell which players are currently active while the status window will show something other than a single flag colour, maybe just a hour glass.

HD mod problems
I've got a problem with HD+
Whenever I play Heroes 3 (Complete edition if that matters) I can't use any of the extra features added by HD+. When I click on the more options button it only shows the chess timer option, none of the other options shown in the screenshots.
Help anyone?

Hi,
which extra features do you talk about?
It is normal that you can only see the chess timer on "more options" in game.
Most preferences can be set and found in the HD mod launcher under "tweaks".
What screenshots do you mean, maybe these?
There are some more options for multiplayer which are not relevant for single player and thus invisible.
Most of the other "cool new stuff" you profit from is active by default. You can see the changes in the documentation.

They are mostly multiplayer options. Replayable quick combat is always on in single player. You just need to enable quick combat when in game. For sim turns, it's for multiplayer HOTA.

I cannot speak about ERA but will chip in and make it clear there is no simulation involved. The battle is executed directly by the game's own code using the game's own AI.
