Any plan for SimTurns for more than two players and other colors than red and blue?

What about integration of modern network protocols, to allow online play without the need for GameRanger/Tunngle?

Thanks for a great mod!

Quote:
Graphics Modes

original (16-bit) - original color mode with no changes.
16-bit (auto switch) - HoMM3 HD automatically changes desktop color mode to 16-bit when you launch the game, and switches it back at closing (incl. abnormal) which allows you to play in window mode without switching screen color mode manually.
32-bit GDI - HoMM3 runs in 32-bit color mode using GDI (component of Windows) conversion from 16-bit to 32-bit (that decreases graphics perfomance on very slow computers). So you can play in window without switching screen color mode.
32-bit (stretchable) - HoMM3 runs in 32-bit color mode, using fast MMX conversion from 16-bit to 32-bit. Also 32-bit (stretchable) mode allows to resize game window and allows to play full screen with any non-standard resolutions. To resize game screen HoMM3 HD uses one of selected filters: bilinear, bilinear sharper, bilinear sharper x2, bilinear sharper x3. Without stretching, 32-bit (stretchable) mode works faster than 32-bit GDI; however, if the window is stretched, 32-bit (stretcahble) works slower than 32-bit GDI.
32-bit True - HoMM3 runs in 32-bit color mode directly without any conversions. 32-bit True is the fastest 32-bit color mode, as fast as original 16-bit.
32-bit True (stretchable) GDI – Recommended - The game runs in 32-bit mode directly with no conversions from 16-bit into 32-bit.  As in 32-bit  (stretchable), you can change the game screen by changing window size, and play in full-screen mode with any non-standard resolution with different  scale filtres. The image is also GDI (Windows component) adapted. Combination of all the best components from all the above mentioned modes makes 32-bit True (stretchable) GDI the most stable and comfortable to play.

There should be a "classic" mod, where the game is exactly like the original but with higher resolution.

I don't like it that when fighting the game isn't full screen, I don't like it that the towns aren't full screen...Also, i would like it so that the program doesn't interfere with the buttons/other stuff.

This was probably discussed before....just my thoughts. Maybe it can be edited,I am reading the documentation now.

It would be cool to have a proper instalation guide( make it advanced instalation) And let me choose everything. Show 2 screenshots, explain, and I will choose what I like.

That's what I say.

Just for feedback, I always play in the original game resolution. That's because it's better to have towns and other things in fullscreen. It removes the distraction of having a cluttered background that one get's with higher resolutions.

The extra buttons and hotkeys are beyond awesome.

BUG

I guess it's not normal that when I turn on "system cursors" and then try to put on an artifact, the cursor changes into a spell book ("cast the spell cursor")?

Also, when I was switching towns from the town screen, at some point a glitch occurred, so that some part (a narrow vertical bar) of the Conflux town appeared on other town screens on the right (near a given town screen border). Unfortunately I'm not able to replicate this one.

I play at 1066x600 32-bit True with brown fillers.

My suggestions are JUST suggestions. 1) I didn't mean to make fun of anybody. 2) I can always be WRONG--if that's the case I'm sorry.

Hey guys,
at first: I love this mod! It improves the game in so many ways, there is no chance for the ubisoft-thing. Thanks (+donation ;-) a lot to baratorch!
And very cool, that we still have an active community.

I have three questions.
1. Sometimes i lose track of what enemies are already vanquished in 8 player game. They disappear in the thieve's guild, but it would be a cool feature to just somehow cross them out or mark them as dead in the scenario info.

2. Is there a way to generate random maps without the grail? I mostly play on hard and the enemy (computer) finds the grail always roughly in the second week, which makes it  impossible for me to ever get it.

3. Is the armorer bug fixed in HD+?
wiki said:
It should be noted, that due to a bug in the game, the damage from arrow towers during siege combat is not reduced by armorer secondary skill, but actually increased the corresponding amount.

best regards,
Tablerocker

I'm not entirely certain this method will work to disable The Grail but it will let you disable Obelisks. AI can't dig grail if they have no info about it.

Follow the steps in these posts. You'll need to edit all the obelisks lines:

AVXOBLB.DEF
AvXOblG.def
AVXOBLK.DEF
AVXOBLO.DEF
AVXOBLP.DEF
AVXOBLW.DEF
AVXOBLY.DEF

Or if blocking the grail itself works... AVZgrail.def

Beware that this won't make it possible for you to get it either

Thanks for your answers!

Ok, i also have no idea what the values mean, but i tried a bit around and this seems to work:
Change the values for all obelisks (AvXObl*.def) and the grail (AVZgrail.def) to
111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000 000000000 0 0 0 0
in ...\Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete\Data\Objects.txt
I always changed all of them, because obelisks are meaningless without the grail.

Or for the google guys, just use my Objects.txt.
You can just make a new textfile in Data folder, name it Objects.txt and paste that sourcecode.
To play with the grail again, just delete or rename Objects.txt.

Note that i downloaded the original Objects.txt somewhere and didn't change anything else. So there are still prisons, hillforts etc.
I couldn't find any crashes/bugs/problems so far. Nice!

At first i tried different values which were somewhere announced to be "removal values", but then i sometimes had some strange side-effects. For example one time all the obelisks were behaving like a prison, which means there were A LOT free heroes on the map :-)

Hi there.
I think that this is a great project anyway I have 1 suggestion:
Can you add tweak for max level of heroes or limit atributes ?
You know why... try to fight with AI 30-30-x-x when you have 20-20-x-x or 15-15-x-x...
Thanks in advance.

Anyway - (owner) flags on Windmills etc. also will be nice...

Are you referring to a specific custom map or do you use any AI-boost mod?

Otherwise you can read the the tactics thread about how to get the better of the AI.

I'm sure there won't be such cap - it'd be a major gameplay change.

What's Windmill flags? For real? You can't own them.

No. I mean like in Heroes V army don't get much boost from hero.
Tweak to avoid too powerfull heroes would be great.
For now crap units with good hero are better than good units with bad hero... IIRC Heroes V is more balanced in this matter.

And about windmills - "taking ownership" is like caravans, so you don't bother with them every week especially on big maps...

Same like deliver creatures from external dwellings to chosen town. I don't think you need Windmills or caravans, because we can get Earth Magic and TP, also with couple Ramparts and Treasury buildings, you never be poor.

how to restore sulfur reward for naga bank

SkeleTony said:
Okay I got the latest HotA english and successfully installed it along with HD+ mod. Have experienced numerous crashes so far. Sometimes the game just drops me back to desktop (with no message of any kind) and sometimes it drops me to desktop with the usual message from Windows.

But this latest crash is really annoying. Playing a random 'Giant' map, using Cove town and when it comes up for Orange player's turn (comp player) it just freezes after it gets about half way through the Orange player's turn. Animation stops, the spinning hourglass cursor stops and I have to ctrl + alt +delete (in task manager it shows "Not responding" for Heroes 3).

I am using Windows XP, 4 gigs of Ram, onboard graphics card (so it sucks for modern games)and my Heroes 3 is the GOG one.

I will paste my "Crash.Log" file:

HoMM3 HD - a non-official fan made addon (multifunction patch) for Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
Initially, the addon was created to change the original game resolution 800x600 to a bigger but now it has even more features.

HoMM 3 HD does not affect the original gameplay and improves the interface functionality, makes it more comfortable to play and fixes a some original game bugs.

All the tiny graphical improvements preserve the original game style.

Features:
Graphics (documentation under construction)
UI and game settings extended functionality
HD+ (original gameplay fixes and other essential features for online multiplayer gaming)
Original Game bug fixing
Sound

Latest version: 4.100 RC6

Download page

Changelog page

800x600 original game still works as it should after HD mod installation (no need to make any copy for backup)

Sorry for my English!
