Yeah, it will be stupid to have orc mauler, giant orc and orc shaman.
Because the Ogre and the Troll will fit perfectly into any Barbarian/Stronghold town.

I'm curious what's your deal If it's the same thing under a different name complaining about is much like investing points on self delusion skill. I do agree that this stronghold has one more orc than it should but I really like the shaman and the tall guy. I'd obviously prefer a thunderbird in centaur's place but oh well. Spilt milk and all.
That said centaur abilities are pure awesome. It's a unit worth investing in apparently

I believe this tall guy using the fist weapons is a troll..
If i remember correct trolls are taller and more savage, a description that might actually fit that image with them and the orcs next to them...
But, since they have that armor of their i guess it doesn't really matter what they are since we can't really see much
Honestly..i think this is the only unit i don't like so far...appearance-wise. They somehow remind me of the dwarf brawlers of ToTE.
Given Elvin's comments though, i hope they've got a neat ability...
Shapeshifting anyone?

Probably the Goblin or the Shaman, all the neutral units are Stronghold on these shots, I guess this is a placeholder thing once again like the Haven on the previous screens, surely the actual map will be different.

Sir Charles more or less confirmed Stronghold's line up on the official forums, so further speculations are rather pointless. The Elites are Centaur thing, Shaman thing and Husky thing, the Champion is some Cyclops thing. Almost no changes compared to the previous Stronghold, just some re-arrangements and one Harpy refugee from Axeoth.
Now, about the racial skill and their Magic hero - these are the more interesting questions.

The thing guarding the town is CLEARLY not a cyclops... it's a mutated cow. I mean think about it Wizards were most likely trying to find the receipe for cow goodness but along the way they must have realized that infusing cows with Demonblood didn't yield the best results. Ergo we have mutant super cows camping in front of Stronghold towns in order to be accepted. If you're a mutant supercow you're bound to go look for someone that accepts you. Poor thing...

Damn there is a lot of whiners on this board! Who gives a frack whether the Centaur is male or female?! Are you all gay or what's with the 'NOOOO why is the centaur female?' ..it's only GOOD that there are fresh elements, otherwise what is the point of a VI?
I think the Stronghold faction looks great, fun and colorful designs, and I trust Black Hole will make the units great to play with on the battlefield!
I hope and beleave that Naga will be the final faction, but I'm sure once they get revealed this whole board will start to whine again!
For the developer: You're doing an awesome job, ignore the whiners, do your thing, and we'll love Heroes VI with all our hearts, when it gets released next year!

So much with diversity of units... Are the devs running away from their promise for balanced units - theme and racial based? There was so much rant about 4,5,6 same type creatures with different clothing and colors.
Dont get me wrong, probably I will buy the game because 50-80 bucks are less then pocket money but if I dont like it and if I dont have fun with it I will move forever from Heroes games. That was the case with Heroes 5, I didnt like it but I am giving one more chance to the series. The other thing I dont like is that the map looks empty, few resources here and there, towns, mines, I saw only two special buildings in all map-pictures until now. This means so much running around (empty moves) without visiting a building. But maybe they want to spoil some surprises at the end (I hope so)

Just browsed through this thread a bit... holy **** why so much hate towards my most beloved orcs? They're big, mean, nasty, smell bad, thirst for blood, low IQ, had a "They've killed Kenni - You snows" reference in their campaign, have epic sideboobs, no regards for tier 1 labour unions (read Bixies epic epic story of the Goblin Agitator´), use their tier 1 units as ammo, have a Cyclops that can seriously f*** s*** up and SHOOTS LAZORSSS OMG!!! and and and they haven't invented the bra yet Oo! COME ON GUYS!! What's not to love? Oh yes baby orcs are in and going to kick some serious a$$! Eat it all you sissy, wannabe treehugging, poetry loving, metrosexual greenpeace activists!

it is an upgraded cyclops... i think it looks cool though
remember, in Ashan orcs were created with demon blood similar to how most of the orcs drank Demon blood in warcraft.

I fear the mauler is going to be a bit generic, but it looks like all factions are getting a creature of that kind (juggernaut, ghoul, praetorian)
goblins looks much weaker than maulers and harpies. do they compensate with speed, dodging abilities?
new design of the harpy is a big surprise

Personally I am more worried about the heroes of the different factions. If you look at the screenshots released, you will see that the hero of the orc faction seems to be riding a regular horse covered in skulls. IMO this is a step backwards compared to H5, where we had these diverse mounts(Mammoth, T-Rex, Horse, Elephant and an Ox). I am seriously going crazy if we are moving back to just regular horses for all races. Get that they are taking the genre back to it's roots(H3), but that would just be dumb.
As for the Stronghold faction I might as well add some things as well. So far I am loving the overall look of the faction with it's new Aztec/Maya/Indian/Aboriginal look, which IMO is a huge improvement from H5. As for the core units I actually like them all, which may seem odd to some. But I can't imagine an orc faction without the goblins, liked how they added a sort of comical relief to the faction in H5 + you can't help but love the sacrificial part they play. Loving the Harpies, they just really fit in with the new theme. Reworked mauler/warrior/warmonger is fine enough not really anything special except for the new looks.
The Elite units is more of a mixed bag. Think it is a little weird to put the centaurs in the elite tier since I always thought of them as somewhat weakin the heroes franchise. Don't care about the male to female switch, but do like the new zebra look despite the fact that it's just adding some stribes to the previous centaur. I actually like the look of the new shaman (Think that the female version could be the magic hero of stronghold, which could explain why they aren't in the regular lineup.), but what I don't like is the fact that Blackhole was so lazy, when they made the upgrade. look at it! There is almost no difference! And Finally we have the new guy(Won't comment on the cyclops since we don't have any clear shots/artwork of it.), which I honestly don't like. They should have gone for the thunderbird.

But there IS diversity, 3 different types of Orcs is still the "smaller half", the balance is still kept, Harpy and Centaur are the "theme" units. And judging by the screens, it's not like they look interchangeable so not sure why complaining about this in particular. And does it mean having both Sentinel and Crossbowman is already too much because only 1 human should appear in Haven? And Priestess gets a pass in this case because it's female?

Quote: I think it's good that the centaur is champion. I didn't understand why it was always a level 1 or 2 creature, whereas it looks like it should be pretty strong.
The funny thing is that in H5 centaur looks like it should be level 4 and is level 2. In h6, it looks like core but is elite.
