@Cepheus:

Thanks for proposing to ask our questions for us , but as I see it the more important questions are ruled out by default,(Why wouldn't they be, though? ) further bits of trivia of the kind that we were told in the QA videos would only serve to completely eliminate the joy of discovering the rest of the little surprises on our own("Easter Eggs", if You will), technical details are yet likely to change(For example the stats-Fine - tuning them will most likely happen during the Beta, right?), therefore the questions that will be worth answering would only be the ones with which we could maybe sting them a little bit.(Not nastily, but just enough for them to feel it ) For example: "On whom exactly can we blame the untimely demise of Town Screens as we knew them?", or "Who is/was/will be in charge of marketing MMH6?"

Still, good to know that insiders really try their hardest to fill their roles to the best of their ability, and that ultimately, H6 seems to be in good hands...- development-wise, at least.

Edit: Questions regarding DRM are out, but could we suggest some alternatives ?
In my opinion, the Vuvuzela-trick Ubi has already used once with one of their games could be recycled, instead of boring old online DRM. After all, who would play the game WITHOUT the undiluted awesomeness provided by its soundtrack?(I know I wouldn't ) Deaf fans maybe, but in the long run, this would be the best(or even the only ) option to completely eliminate piracy, in the case of HOMM.

If nothing else you can ask a question to which you might expect a "tell you later". If the answer is as such, I guess there would be renewed license for more whining. Everyone likes more whining.

@Cepheus:

Yeah, but the thing is that the only two topics which truly deserve whining(resources+Town "Windows") have already been whined about almost too much(They even got their respective whiners' topics, as I recall), and no matter the possible additional reasons, whining will no longer be able to reach such epic proportions, taking the fun from continuing to do so(At least for Yours truly ). Fortunately, Ubihole managed to restrict the pointless destruction(split-seconds gained do not count! See my earlier post(s) why.) to these two areas, managing to mix classic elements with new(er) ones fairly well, at worst deserving only a "We'll see..." as a temporary verdict from most of the posters. Consequently, I cannot imagine an even remotely interesting question being answered, if, in fact we as a whole can come up with one in the first place. Anyway, it's the thought that counts! Thanks!

I agree with The_Polyglot here.
The hot topics: town-windows, 7 -> 4 resources and perhaps still area-of-controll and the new tiering are either answered or almost certainly get a "afraid we can't tell you" answer. And how much some of us rant and rave about them, they won't be changed before the release. (You know who I'm talking about and how I think about them)0 The rest are spoilers and very very minor concerns.
I wanna know about neutrals, but I don't think we'll get a sneak-peek at one of those.
I'd like to know if we still need a specific skill to controll our, thank you for making them faction-original, catapults. But that is again a very very minor concern.
I'd like to get to know a few premade heroes, but those are spoilers. And the same goes here as goes for neutrals.
As far as Marzhin's personal details go, who cares? What possibile use could I have to know the guys shoesize? Or wether he prefers Wonder-Woman over two others I never heard of and care far to little to look them up. Personally I think that was a complete wasted part of interview.
Don't get me wrong, I certainly apreciate the effort you, Cepheus and possible others, put in to arrange this. But other than a select few very very minor concerns, I doubt we'll get anything substantial.
And last and very certainly least, as a lore-hound, I'm not realy waiting for an interview with the map-guy. (I know he's more than that, but you get my drift.)

@Cepheus:

Remember the cause for the information drought? Too much info was released at once, info that should have been withheld to ensure a steady trickle of news. Instead, we got 1-2 heavily news-laden weeks, at the price of Ubihole running out of nuggets to share. Now, practically the only things at which we can only guess are the stats, the precise mechanism of the abilities, the price of the units, and maybe ideal build orders. I personally think that any further info would ruin the joy of finally getting to play H6. It's as if You knew what You would get for Xmas... 2 months in advance!

I apologize if some of these have been answered. I can't keep everything straight.

Do towns retain any structures when they are converted between factions? How is this determined?

Is there a neutral water elemental that is pretty much the same as the the River Spirit or is there another explanation?

Are mass spells still generally overpowered, or have they been toned down?

Can you explain the Sanctuary racial specialty/ability in greater detail?

Are there any spells, abilities, or artifacts that use different mechanics than what we've seen in previous Heroes games? Can you give us any details?

How will the beta be unlocked? I purchased my copy through Steam. Will it simply be available for download through Steam when the beta is ready?

Can you reveal any more unique buildings?

How many buildings are available to build per town?

Do the castle upgrades still increase creature growth?

Can you give us some examples of how different moats work?

Can units get onto and off of castle towers after battle has begun?

Are town portal structures expensive or high in the tech tree? Does it cost anything to use them?

Do the arrows icons on top of mines and dwellings point to the nearest control point? Can the enemy see your arrows?

Well I have a lot of questions but given that the answer to most of them will be "we'll talk about this soon TRADE MARK", then why bother? The Q&A session so far (all the... hm, two parts) has been regarding minor and - as far as I can tell - almost useless bits of information which many people managed to deduce from previous hints. Everything major and worth the attention of more than a few dozens of prigs is being kept for planned info releases. It's not about how interested are the insiders, Marzhin and Xhane (now without her) in watering the desert with a drop of rain but about Ubisoft's policy to keep the essential stuff for as late as possible.

I would like a little more info on the dwellings and creature pools and how they work. I found some info on it in the faq, but I would like to know for instance: Will you have a pool of core units that you can spend as you wish, buying 15 of one sort instead of 5 of each? [answered] Do the control points determine in which town the external dwellings add to the creature pool or do they add to all castles of the same faction?
Perhaps these things have already been addressed?

Some minor stuff that probably are not "can't tell you yet"-stuff:
Can you get more than one spell per skill point in some cases?
Since knowledge is no longer a stat, what will determine your mana pool?

The town screen is actually a town window. It is designed to remain the same size whatever your screen resolution is, even if you use a 16:9 monitor.
Something just died in me. And in my 1920x1200 screen.
This is beyond dumb, I simply cannot fathom the logic behind such a change. There goes my last shimmer of hope...

Please just avoid repeating what's been covered at the recent CH interview because we'll probably just get the same response. Luckily they didn't ask many pressing questions, so it mainly means "don't ask about town screens".

Sorry Cepheus, but the answer we received concerning town windows was - at best - lacking. They basically told us 'The dumb windows are still there. We know you don't like them, but this is how it is. Oh, and screw you with wide screens'

I suggest that we ask them the following concrete question:
What are they doing about town screens? Are they listening to the fans? Is this feature going to change (best case) prior to game release or (worst case) with an expansion?

I don't even have to start worrying about respecing and rare resource shenanigans. This is how pissed I am at the town screen mess...

Yes, you could. This is one of the things that has been revealed to us, by courtesy of our friendly insiders. Almost as soon as the new tiering-system was released.

Judging from what I've read here, that ought to be the minority opinion of the century

Thanks to those who are asking some questions, and thanks anyway to those who would rather not out of anticipation/scepticism or whatnot. I'll wait until tomorrow evening before going ahead with sending a list.

Hint hint as to other areas you might still be guessing at which could use an update: have you been told anything substantial about artifacts? individual heroes? number of heroes? hero specialties (if any)? map objectives? specific skills? design philosophy? remaining new features? map editor details? modding capabilities? patch plans? cheese sandwiches?

Personally I think that was a complete wasted part of interview.

There was a limit of ten gameplay questions, but non-gameplay questions were limitless, so no waste.

I know you're frustrated and I understand. I have my doubts that Marzhin has set out to screw those with widescreens though. He only clarifies the situation as it stands. After the beta I think the situation will be evaluated.

They come in 3 tiers: Minor, Major and Relic. There will be lots of them, over a 100 I recall. Many of them will be references to the previous games. There are several that are exclusive to the deluxe/collector's edition or to preorderers. And unless there gonna be specific descriptions of them, what more do we need to know?

Quote:
have you been told anything substantial about individual heroes?

Is it worth it? Cause I fear we're gonna get a "afraid we can't tell you".

Quote:
have you been told anything substantial about  number of heroes?

Barring campaign-heroes, there's always been 8, with specialties, that are usuable. I suspect that there's gonna be 8 again. And if they don't have specialties, which have been confirmed, what does it matter if you get 4 or 24 if they're all the same 'cept for the pic.

Quote:

We're getting them for the premades and we get to choose them if we make one our own. What more do we need to know.

I don't understand why they didn't evaluate the situation long ago? Many fans were clearly dissatisfied with the screens early on, but we were repeatedly assured that they were a work in progress. But all they've improved is the town-picture, which we've known all along was a placeholder.
There has actually not been much confusion over the screen matter as stated in the interview. All those details have been known for two weeks already, and many of them long before that.

Aw no multiplayer questions?... I wanted to find out how the extra content from collectors edition/preordering would work. (but then again I also wonder about that in singleplayer...)

My main question would be: Why the fixed size of town windows?

(yes it is a town windows question but not like the previous one). I don't see the purpose. Can't you make a click and turn it into a fullscreen or a full"playscreen" (covering just the map, not options, other heroes and such to the side and at bottom).

Edit: Good idea Cepheus! I'd like to hear how the specialities of the heroes are shaped this time. Since spells are no longer gained in the traditional way and with the new creature tier/pool system, how would specialities work? (Examples = yum yum!)

By evaluate I mean they should make a final decision. I don't think it's past the point of no return yet. Don't agree that there has not been much confusion though. It's easily been the most confused/berated issue in HoMM development since Forges.
This is one of the situations where I can't in good conscience recommend that you stop complaining and overreacting.

It's much simpler from a technical standpoint. Then you just have to make one town artwork that remains the same with all graphical settings. In full screen you would have to render the artwork according to the settings. And you also have the challenge with 4:3 and 16:9/16:10 resolutions, not making the artwork look stretched or compacted in any of the cases.

Although I understand this aspect I believe it's just lazy to go with the fixed-size solution. And I think they're hoping that the fans won't be too upset so they don't have to change it.
I would easily trade half the spells and artifacts for proper screens!

Also, we got the outline of the story of the campaign heroes, we know that their level is capped at 30, that their choices influence their story, etc... In addition, we know a bit about heroes' models,... Julien has already assured us, that this time, editor will be usable, as opposed to H5's, You repeatedly told us that modding H6 will be easier  by far... If I weren't so tired, I could go on and on and on like this, but alas, that isn't the case, so bye-bye for now!
