Says that they've gotten rid of the always needs to be connected DRM and moved to once on startup of the game.

DRM will be but, if i remember well a couple of months ago the way it works has changed so You need Internet when registering (checks if a valid product) the game after that all is ok no permanent Internet connection needed, but there might be some official news on Ubisoft web site

That's usually how it works for digitally distributed games and it's pretty certain for the digital version, I can't speak for disc versions.
Those who don't have a choice but to get a digital version should buy it then crack it to work without the DRM. It's enormous BS to lose a non-multiplayer game if the connection goes down or you're on a plane with a laptop or something. It's not nice, but they just don't have a better solution that doesn't cripple their paying customers.

They haven't said "this is the DRM that the game will have". It is the system currently in place for games released by Ubi and is pretty likely to be the way for this one too unless they change their policy before release.
Like I said though, I'm not informed enough to speak for disc versions. It's pretty relevant though because it has been stated that certain countries (US for example) will not have a disc version available.

Why do you so much concerned about the DRM system. Every problem has a solution. Yeah, I know it's silly to crack a legal version but if you don't have a choice... you do it.

I completely agree with you. There are limits when anti-piracy becomes anti-privacy. On one hand, I want them to make great quality Heroes in the future, thus I will buy the game, but there is no saying of just how strong I disapprove with the using of DRM.

When does the open beta begin? Did anyone get their key from ordering the deluxe version from Ubisoft online yet? Does the key work yet? Does anyone know how long they are going to keep the option open to pre-order the game and get the extra items and heroes?
