I think I have found my new favorite Necro creature even though I don't agree with the putrid/festering name!

But is it only me or does the upgrades of the newer creatures unveiled look for more similar to the normal creature than the first creatures they revealed did?

But yeah, the next creatures are obviously going to be Haven or Inferno and then Necros champion and then Haven/Necro core/elite again and then they should be ready to reveal the next faction I think.

Like I said comprehension would blow your mind. But you could look into Mesopotamian mythological creatures if you feel like it.

So my best guess it's a Lamassu... Kind of a weird choice for a necro unit.

Yes, very weird to have this thing as the strongest Necropolis unit...

It might not reach the heights Infernopolis, but it should make the Necro purists quite upset.

Ironically, this image on the first page of this thread is exactly what google gives you when you type Lamasu xD

This sphynx guys are really awesome, they seem to have some sort of putrid special acording to the description.

And it seems to be one of the creature that the wizards just threw away as junk and now the emancipating necromancers take them to give them the opportunity to show their power, cool story.

Does anyone here realize that the music from the trailer (the one with Pavel's death and Svetlana and the Archangel or whatever that is surrounded by demons) is almost exactly the same as the track "God Particle" by Hans Zimmer featured on the "Angels and Demons" soundtrack?

This might mean that the (or one of the) composers might be Hans Zimmer ()...

It's a dead manticore, not sphinx. LoL

In fact is a fussion between a manticore and a human (so technically a winged lion with human face, wich is exactly a sphynx, only that this one has tail), this is a completly new creature, you can't call bull a minotaur just because it's partially a bull.

And is called Lamasu, a female deity (with the male version named Sedu the one from the photo above)wich description is closer to a sphynx than to a manticore ("Phoenicians and Syrians linked the sphinx to the guardian spirit lamassu and made it a symbol of rulership and the guardian of temples and palaces"). The only difference with the sphynx is that the lamassu could have bull or lion body.

Anyway what this creature really resemble doesn't matter much, what it's important is that it looks really cool and I can't wait to see it in play.

Aditionally, they gave another reference to the seven cities... come on Elvin, just tell us if we will see any stuff about the cities soon just if we will see something about them, not what

Funnily enough they also made a reference to the beastmen. What I wonder about is, would they make the beastmen a non-faction at the time so 1 or 2 Academy units might be something that belongs to Stronghold?

Yeah, but the Bone/Ghost dragons were one of the two that I actually didn't mind (the other being the Black).

Oh, and those look more like Manticores to me.

I think them mentioning stuff a lot makes it less of chance that it will become a major thing in the game.
Such as Academy. They mention the Silver Cities all the time and yet they have not said a word about the Wood elves, a race that does something significant around this time and even borders the Griffin Empire in H5.

Unfortunately, I have to agree.
However I'm fairly sure that if Academy isn't included in the basic game, there will be an expansion with them(and hopefully we'll get 2 towns per expansion).

I'll give you that Bone Dragons were pretty cool but H5 just went overkill with the dragons.  I would like some more originality in my fantasy settings.

So it looks like we will know all creatures from necropolis, haven, and demonville in 10 days. There's 5 units left to disclose: 1 haven core, 1 haven elite, 1 demon core, 1 demon elite, and 1 necro champion.
Can't wait
After than, I'm guessing around nov 25th, the 4th faction will be revealed.

Haven Core: Crossbowman/Marksman, Sentinel/Praetorian and ?
Haven Elite: Griffin/Imperial Griffin, Sun Rider/Sun Crusader, Seraph/Celestial(Asssuming this, but could also be champion unit)
Haven Champion: ?

Would be seriously bummern if the Seraph is the champion unit of haven, so I am hoping the final haven unit is the champion.

Inferno Core: Tormentor/Excruciator, Hellhound/Cerberus and ?
Inferno Elite: Succubus/Temptress, Juggernaut/Juggernaut Ravager and ?
Inferno Champion: Pit Fiend/Pit Lord

Necropolis Core: Skeleton/Bone Guard, Ghoul/Grave Ghoul, Ghost/Spectre
Necropolis Elite: Vampire/Vampire Lord, Lich/Arch Lich, Putrid Lamasu/Festering Lamasu
Necropolis Champion: ?

Remember! All of these positions is how I think they are ranked. And I have only included those creatures, which have already been confirmed(hence the lack of the spider lady/Namtaru). Feel free to discuss the lineup, but so far these creature names have been taken from the official facebook page of Heroes VI.

Sry, had to make some corrections. Have had a some beers at this point, so don't blame me if the spelling is off.

Actually it started with H3 IMO, I mean, did we really need a dragon in Rampart, wouldn't the Dendroid have made a decent enough tier 7 (it's the size of a tree, and it's made of wood, which is both hard, and contrary to popular belief doesn't burn easily in big lumps, especially when wet).

Yeah, H3 already had too many Dragons.

Well now we have none in H6 Let's see how that works out, looking forward to it though ^^ Bone Dragon was useful and good in H2. Heroes 3 not so much, and in H5 it was redundant as it was not only without a useful ability it was also expensive, lol. Meat shield level 7.

I do like dragons but I hope they'll keep them as extremely powerful neutral creatures.

Could have Dragon Vaults with Dragon boss battles. Would be a cool way to implement boss battles into hot seat matches

Lama Su was a male Kaminoan who served as Prime Minister of Kamino at the beginning of the Clone Wars.

Lamassu is a babylonian myth creature.

I just wish somebody from the whole development team could spellcheck!

Edit: I did some more google research and apparently Lamasu is the alternative way to spell Lamassu (or vice versa), so no misspelling. Sorry for the doubt, dev team can spell check.

Also, why does the creature's head look like a woman when it's a beastMAN combined with a manticore that is then ressurected??!!

Or did they mean a female beastman? A beastwoman? A beastshemale?

The art looks great, I just don't understand such basic errors...

Yup, yet another bad creature description - it appears that all the subjects used for the wizard experiments were "usually" female criminals and female slaves. Damn, these wizards are awful sexists!  And there seem to be plenty of available-for-experiments female slaves and female criminals in Ashan.
Lamassu however can't be changed to something male or neutral, because in the source mythology this is the female version of the creature. They won't change the art model either, so it just screams for a new description.

Because of calling them beastmen? The term defining our species is human(s). Either way beastmen does not specifically refer to lamasu, it is a collective term for the 'monstrosities' the wizards created.

I'm sorry, but usually female? I didn't noticed that those minotaurs and centaurs were female... This is a game, not some sort of encyclopedia that needs to have female and male for every specie -.-

Btw, this Lamasu creeps me out, perfect necro unit, can't wait to see the other.

Cheers

Human AFAIK is not ethimologically related to the word man. We are not "hu-men" and "hu" is not a prefix.
Beastman is a composed word.
But ok, if it refers to more than the Lamas(s)u it's ok I guess...

Minotaurs and Centaurs were both depicted as male in all heroes games AFAIK. Name, art or descriptions of said creatures did not contain references to gender. I really did not understand that comment.

My point was, why refer to female looking creatures as generated from beastMEN? At least call those things beasts. GENDERLESS.
But if other people are fine with those trannies, it's fine by me. In a world where cerberus is a race of two-headed dogs, vampires fight with swords and misspelled babylonian gods roam the earth, everything goes*.

*Butchering existing lore and spelling conventions does not make original content. Just how those chinese sneakers are not original by naming them "Adidass" or "Mike".
