I'm quite sure there will be some designs that you'll find entertaining.

A detail on hero's skill and spell? a detail on racial skill? a detail on Hero's Specialty Mechanism? Advance Class System detail? Creature ability and trait? I hope it will be one of these.. and hopefully in the next few days. Told us to wait another month and I will greatly question the March 2011 release date.

Can we make an influence on Blachole/Ubisoft and ask them to change this copy-paste design for  3rd creatre?

It's rather dissapointing, cause even though it's cool, just like Don said, it's a tipical skinny, tormented, violence loving creature...
1-2 I said okay, no one really likes zombies(I do), and inferno needed something fresh, but what te hell? Another one of the same thing in the same town?
Neither of them looks like an elite unit to me either, but having both of them as core units is also absurd..
I'd have been much happier with a human in red, called "possesed"

Right... hold on a second.

Core: Hell hound (Light Offense), Maniac (Heavy Infantry!?!?), Succubus (Caster? Battlefield control?)
Elite: Juggernaut (Heavy Offense), Tormentor (Light Offense?), unknown unit (Caster/Utility?)
Champion: Pit lord (Tank/Caster)

I dunno, I'm very confused right now how this line-up is supposed to hit a balance of synergistic unit types.
Maybe the Hound is now the more resilient type, I mean it looks quite beefy, these Maniacs look quite fragile by comparison.
And Succubi obviously are going to be some kind of advanced tricky unit.

I still don't like this Succubus core business, Succubi don't strike me as a species that work well in large numbers.
I mean isn't stealth, trickery and manipulation their whole theme?
Highly specialized role for a basic unit...

about the similar creatures... maybe this is just for artists save time and in game they will pose and behave quite differently from each other? /silly_hope

So I guessed it right then

(take that Mr.Dragon ^^)

Maniac doesn't seem interesting as a design yet, but it could have some nice ability. Sounds like it enjoys taking damage, maybe it reflects some of it back to enemy creatures? would love that ^^ low damage, fast, average hp. Nasty ability of inflicting damage whenever it is hit.

Yeah yeah, I kept on saying Succubus is obviously Elite, possibly because I am quite fond of Succubi as a creature in various different games, they're almost always portrayed as mid to high ranking demons specializing in espionage and manipulation.
Call em, Hell's version of James Bond, but then female.
An elite group of demons tasked with jobs to subtle for your average brute or other hell beast.
I still, even after hearing they are Core, find it hard to believe how you can convey everything a Succubus stands for in a basic unit.

But let the record show: my prediction was wrong, and people are entitled to mock me.

Also as for the Maniac, considered that, that it might be tanky, but the whips seem to contradict that image, I mean it could work.
I dunno, the inferno line-up has me thoroughly confused right now thanks to this new creature.
Maybe the last creature will bring back my usual Inferno enthusiasm.
Maybe I left it in the car that broke down, I'll probably have it back by the time the next inferno beasty is released.
Here's hoping it's not another gangly humanoid and really is a beasty.

Note: The poster above, another person who thought the Succubus should be elite.
There are many like us.
Edit2: And Maken two posts down.
Not to mention aside from a few people that stuck to the hints in the flavour text, the majority of the forum around the time the picture was released believed it was an elite.
This does not mean we aren't wrong (and thus we are allowed to be mocked), it just means it's not a strange thought.

Some similar creatures seem to have same core/elite power. A lot of you argued over succubus being elite and now you take it as core, being similar to this line succubus-ghost-sun spirit thing from heaven. Griffin was taken as core and now elite, maybe it also follows this rule: griffin-lamasu, both being similar by being a LION (at base) then the 1st is altered with a giant eagle and lamasu is manticore and then again altered, so (lion + bat + scorpion) now + human. If indeed this rule is applied in game creatures, they also want to balance the game from the anatomic-esthetic point of view.

Well, for some time I suspected such lineup (excluding the just revealed chain-guy) as Cepheus and SirCharles said. And I share with you my pseudo-theory-suspicion (and that goes against my wishes, as I wanted a elite succubus):

In the Artwork thread, there are numbers indicating the .jpgs . These numbers range (in increments of 10) from 10 to 70, plus 1 for upgrades.

So, creatures with 10, 20 or 30 are core, 40, 50 or 60 are elite and champions 70. Plus they are related to Heroes V tiers.

According to this, we miss:

Haven = 30~31 and 50~51, one core and one elite.
Inferno = 60~61 one elite.
Necro = 70~71 the champion.

Yes, I waste a lot of time doing useless stuff like this. I wish I wasted more on stuff I need to do.

Indeed, actually MOST people assumed it would be elite. That is the reason I posted that hold your horses, it might be core ^^ I didn't wish for it to be core although I can perfectly understand it (humanoid look vs. demonic like tormentor) This even though it definately is my favourite creature desing so far, and I loved it in H5 too.

Actually, it kind of looks like the Ghoul is playing dress-up, trying to make himself look more like the Tormentor.  And that's more comical than hackneyed, in my opinion, as a zombie ought to be.

As for the Maniac...I don't know.  I get the feeling that all Inferno creatures have the curved spine as a holdover from their imprisonment.  In which case, you're going to see a lot of hunched over creatures.  I'm interested to see how the Maniac animates, though; we're seeing his chains in stasis at the moment, and I imagine they'll be moving around a lot more than that in gameplay.

If the theory about the numbers is correct, the Lamasu and the Griffin would be elite, but the Lamasu would be a more powerful elite (if at the end there is some sort of balancing between power and pool consumed by each creature) as the griffin is "40" and the Lamasu "60".

BTW, I realized that according to the numbers, the Lich are supposed to have a supperior rank than vampires. Wasn't the lore changed so the vampire was now a veteran lich rejuvenated?

I think it's going to be more like the sun girl is an elite. In the necro vs. haven pic, you can only see one of them, this is why I think they are a rare unit, but maybe I'm wrong the same way than the elite succubus supporters (yeah, I too think they should be elite, probably they are the most powerful core).

Btw why are you guys still guessing after ceph and sir Charles told you?

Wow, that is an excellent discovery. I wish we had come up with that earlier but now we can use that for the 4th and 5th faction later on.

Before the stupid Maniac came up I thought the line up would look like this (Succubus down because the description actually says they are a low caste):

Core: Hell Hound, Succubus and Gog 2.0
Elite: Tormentor, Juggernaut and Efreet
Champion: Pit Fiend

Now I guess it will be something like this:

Core: Hell Hound, Succubus and Maniac
Elite: Tormentor, Juggernaut and CASTER, I hope for Efreet. Hopefully not the stupid Sorceror-Demon from Clash of Heroes.
Champion: Pit Fiend

I don't see any flyers here but that's because I think the Inferno creatures will have the ability to teleport around the battlefield and that will be their unique thing other than Gating.

I am guessing that early in the game, Inferno is supposed to use Hell Hounds as the main offensive unit, Succubus probably have some crowd control or seduction ability which could help a lot early and maybe Maniacs have some sort of ranged attack?

New Inferno creature is up! the final Elite we have been waiting for.

The Fury
Furies are the spawns of Ur-Vrashnu, the Demon Overlord of Anger. These demons are fast walkers who deal a lot of damage and get angrier the more they fight. Similar in appearence to Tormentors.

The Vexxed is the upgrade of the Fury.

And... they changed the gender of the monk

BTW I like this new concept, but I think it's less "feudal and puritanical" than the haven is supposed to be in this game. They remind me more to the bretonian ladies of Warhammer. Probably a hevy heal oriented spellcaster to bring this "outheal the enemy damage" strategy that has been mentioned other times.

Yes haven's theme is getting more spiritual than feudal. After all it is a race that is balanced between might and magic.

This new swing in Haven might just be enough to sway me to play them regularly instead of ignore them like I did in all the previous titles.
