resources

Im not sure if this has been discussed before bu the only thing that really bothers me are the lowered number of resources. I was thinking if we could maybe discuss the reasons for this kind of change. What could drive the development team to 3 resources? Anyone thought of any good things this change could bring?

Pretty sure that has been discussed over and over again. Personally, I rather wait for the actual game to come out and play first before judging about that.

Great, I've always wanted to have decent healers in my favourite faction!

Seems I'm gonna like Heaven more than ever before.

Haven are really starting to look like a half decent faction. I like the way some of these creatures (from all factions) are going. Going to add a lot more statagy to games now that creatures like the priestess and succumbus seem to be very low damage dealers and very good support creatures. Can't wait too see their actuall abilities.

Ok, female monks, Kudos to ubisoft for knowing how to hit the community with a wall of nostalgia, and  still be able to innovate.

They're not monks, they're priestesses, AKA HEALERS. I've not seen monks casting a single healing spell in previous games, have you ?

Except for the one-time healing spell from the paladins in H5, healing has not been in HoMM since the H4 hero spell.

If the difference between monk vs priest(ess) is that big then surely angel vs (female) more-human-like-double-sworded-seraph is a crucial difference as well.

Super cool, IMO this is the best human line-up. Personally I think that the pegassus will fit better on the place of the griffin but the griffin has a connection with the human history in Ashan (and previous Heroes Games). With the presence of the female healers we will no longer see grim humans walking around in madness (because of inquisitors, the idea of the religion is not to purge the unbelievers but to focus on the spirit, unlike real human history of course )

I like a lot that the Angels are swinging two swords (in one human build I had this idea of Angel of Light as basic unit, Angel of Judgement and Angel of Mercy as alternative upgrades, basically these are the two of the three types angels according to the jewish Kabhala, connected to the three pillars of the Tree of Life) - the visuals of the Angels with two swords are not the best, another idea will be one dual- edged sword that changes in color when hitting different enemies or when performing different actions - like blue light when resurrecting and red light when hitting.

I would like to see real changes in the spell-casting units. LETS forget the random logarithmic idea Nival had when calculating the offensive spells, and return to plain linear formula - and for the supporting spells like bless or haste - small numbers of spellcasters cast bless on one stack, medium numbers of spellcasters cast bless on one stack but can attack after that, large numbers of spellcasters cast bless on few stacks like area spells, huge numbers cast area spell and can attack after that (or cast the spell wait until the end of the round and attack after that). Why? Because these supporting spells are of value compared to the damage the stack of spellcasters can do only in the earlier stages, when you can kill many enemies you  usually dont waste the turn casting bless on a single stack or haste.

Another idea is implemented by 1C in Kings Bounty - your units can MOVE and than attack, lets say you have 4 speed - walk three squares and than attack.

Priestesses look cool, and I like that they'll be able to heal.

However, for a unit who "dedicated their lives to bringing light and warmth to all the people in need," they don't look too happy lol.  What's up with that?

You mean the numbers Alcibiades gave to the pictures when he uploaded them to photobucket ?

The original pictures are uploaded with names like this : http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs978.snc4/77096_466244539587_161184829587_5380046_3911044_n.jpg Have fun trying to find out anything interesting with such a name

Why should I if Alci is giving them the correct positions in the new tier hierarchy?

Now about the priestess, maybe she is like Jean Gray and sometimes freak out, start flying on fire and get more powerful? xD

I put the numbers based on the information that comes with the unit, equivalence with earlier games and guesses. If you'd looked closely, you'd have noticed that several units changed numbers along the way as new information came out. So there is no higher truth in my numbers.

the point is that it's the most accurate classification so far, at least I believe so... with some people that were absurdly believing that griffin could be core or not sure who would be elite between succubus and tormentor

I mean, whatever, so much for conspiracy theory anyway

Well you're totally wrong there. What healing spell were monks/zealot casting ?

Priestesses are units dedicated to healing (and most likely some support spells). Monks were pure ranged damage dealer with very few support spells. It's like comparing a pikeman and an archer.

WHAT? isnt the succubus a elite? the decription even says something like "elite unit"

Maybe, with the new (and kinda weird) tier system, shooters are all being pushed into Core?

I know I always hated having a Level 6 shooter unit as a Dungeon player in H5, so I'm all for this. High-tier archers just never felt worth it for me, except for Titans.

Hehe I agree on the Dungeon part, the shadow witch was pretty meh if you didn't have Eruina. However high level shooters are nice as they add variation so I really hope they still have that(which I would assume).

I actually  assumed the demon would be a core creature, but it is hard to know when you can't see the size. However in the cinematic they are pretty huge so I guess they are elite yeah.

Yay my first post

What about Cyclopses in H3? Also, who says that archers have to use bows or throw things, isn't the Mage's staff kinda cool?

Well, I have to say, this "trickle down" of information is a shoddy way of marketing the game.  Instead of seeing how the creatures line up alongside each other, we're busy judging each creature by itself, critiquing the design, pointing out how stupid or silly the names are, nitpicking at details in descriptions.  Even the lack of mercury and gems has become the target of criticism, and rather than show the players how this change will affect the gameplay, the developers just said "trust us".

I know this has been rehashed again and again, but when Heroes 3 was being marketed, they revealed an entire faction all at once, so you could see the units side-by-side as an army, rather than trying to piece together the puzzle the marketing people were handing out.  What made Heroes 3 so exciting was the wealth of information that was divulged all at once; it allowed players to see right away what was unique and special about each town type, and it made everyone excited for the game's release so we could try them out.

The way they're doing things now may seem like a good idea for getting feedback, but as a means of building hype about the game itself, I think it was a mistake.  Elvin, Cepheus: think you could pass that along?

You don't have to tell us. We're dissatisfied that the game will be noticed or sell if promotion of this slow, scarce caliber continues, to say the least, and we've told them about it quite vocally. However I heard some reassuring word of a "marketing blitz" which will supposedly begin closer to the release date.

Spot on.  I think all of us have at one point or another complained rather loudly at the snail-like pace that they're doling out information.  AND the fact that they're doing it so haphazardly all over the web.  The "official" game forum...it's gone completely ignored for months now.

But, on the plus side, I got a VERY surprising e-mail today.  From the US spokesman for Ubisoft.  Considering my involvement with both h5 and now h6, this is the first time anybody from the US offices has contacted me.  There are very few US-based fan sites out there anymore and it always struck me as odd that the US Ubi offices would so blatantly ignore that opportunity.  That being said, they are indeed working on a "marketing blitz" as Cepheus so aptly put it.

Marketing could be worse... I hate it when companies say they're gonna release X information/tidbit at Y month and then withdraw that promise.

We better be getting a faction this month- rehashed or new, I don't care, just something new to make me stop wondering about form and instead start wondering about experience... if that makes sense.

In any case, I really like the bombardment of female units. Still wondering if that phoenix/jean grey thingy in the Sveltana picture really is our missing Haven elite or if it's the early concept for the priestess/Vestal.

Is this "Marketing Blitz" related to the 4th and 5th faction? because the end of the month draws near as we speak and the "We will release 4th on November and 5th on January" stuff is the hype generator that will went bad if they don't fulfill this soon.

Honestly, I grow tired of the creature release occasionally, I mean, yeah they were great stuff (I like the new art direction so far), I like Lamasu and it is as much as I want to know what this creature capable of.

I also heard about uniqueness on each creature, they could have released it along with the creature's art. Not to mention how they will look in-game.

I DO hope they release something about Hero's skill, spell, advance class unique skill and Hero's Specialty mechanism (if there are differences with the old Hero's Specialty system)

The Fate Spinner is my favorite creature so far. Of course, I'm biased when it comes to Necropolis, being my favorite faction.

Edit: Her dual form is interesting as well, I look forward to seeing how it works in battle.
